"It hurts a lot. I don't know how i will play tomorrow. I don't know if i'll be playin at all"

Interview for the Serbian national TV

Louis Cyphre

Ohhhh please !!!

Before every tournament I read 5 interviews about how injured is Jankovic , during the tournament there is another 5 and after the tournament another 5 ... then the next week she play the next tournament and its 2 years like that. And a bunch of blind "fans" are keep posting dozens of threads every day how hurt is Jankovic till the next week when she is playing again. Dont u get it ? She is so high in the ranking because the other players are injured , otherwise she will be out of top5 for sure !

The last months she annoys me the most and I started to dislike her more. Every time she gives me a reason to it.
If she's so injuried as she says then withdraw. If not, then just shut up finally and play.

You can call her a fighter to play while she has pain. If that really is the case, she must be totally brainless.

I love what happened at Hopman Cup with Jelena. She said she was risking her career by playing with a "career threatening" injury, and this was why she had to pull out of her singles match, but she was "healthy" enough to play the mixed doubles final with Novak? :tape:

Then later at the Australian Open, she compared herself to Heath Ledger.

"Yeah, I was in pain. I took so many painkillers. I was telling the doctor . . . I'm going to overdose, and I want to live."

"As you know, it was a sad story that Heath Ledger died and he took so many things, so I was like saying to the doctor, 'Please don't let me take so many'.

"I still, I am only 22. I want to live."

Serena is nowhere near how dramatic Jankovic is, i.e. calling the trainer every match, "injured and not 100% healthy" at every tournament, having her make-up get in her eye and making a fuss about it, fake limping, etc.

i am a big fan, but this kind of atitude is not helping jelena at all. as hard as it may seem she should just withdraw and think about the future. she should have just sit through the US hard-court season and rest up for the olympics and the US open.

and stop calling jelena a cheat. lots of players have showed up and then withdrawn (Davenport anyone??), so just leave the girl alone, she had the desire to play and she should do it. she was asked if it hurts? she said yes it does. whta is so dramatic for you in that??? she will certainly try and play. and if she wants she should. it's her life her career. you can all have an opinion, but for calling someone a cheater just because she is hurting, well come on now. that's really too much.

i'm sure she would have been happier not to answer the questions in front of camera, but leave and in visit a docotor, take a rest or something, but the media were probably after here, i'm sure she didn't call them and arranged the interview just to "get the attention". because she has it in serbia trust me. more then she would like...

You could CLEARLY tell Serena was injured. She couldn't even move when Daniela sliced serves spinning away from her. She basically gave Daniela points if Daniela could move her around. It's not our fault Daniela is a choking, mentally weak, idiot with no game plan and no sense of purpose.

She took Justine to three sets with her serve and FH only. Anyone who saw that match knew Serena's injury was legitimate. Jelena is morally corrupt and uses gamesmanship all the time like Ivanovic and Djokovic. I guess that is what they teach people in Serbia, or maybe Carlos Rodriguez was their coach.

Jeez - not just you but everyone here - are you lot thick or something. The basic problem with Jelena is simply she's playing injured. I wish she'd pulled out but that she's injured is so fucking obvious - that either your comments are in bad taste and are indeed very personal - or you're too thick to understand that she's bound to be asked about it all the time when she's playing injured like this. She can't control the media and what they ask. There's no theatrics at all - she's now just having to answer questions.

Furthermore - what with the organizers none to happy thanks to the likes of the Ana, Tati and Lindsay late withdrawals - she's obligated to state her situation all the time.

The only way she could stop the questions is to pull out. She doesn't usually quit when playing for her country and right now she's no doubt under even more pressure from the Serbian Federation to "see what it's like and play if possible" now that Ana has pulled out with her sore thumb.

JJ's whole game plan is based on her movement and she could barely move today. Anyone who denies it is either blind or :cuckoo:

Ever heard of fighting through injuries? Seriously, every player has done what you just mentioned at one point or another. I can assure you when JJ has an injury, she is not moving flawlessly.

Wimbledon 07 anyone? Serena acted like she had just torn her ACL yet still managed to play comfortably later on, not to mention take Justine to 3 sets.

But not every match, or every match that they lose,
Serena was genuinely injured. Please don't try and compare that to a Jankovic "injury."

Oh, and before when I was listing JJ's endless amount of drama and fakery, I forgot to mention her blowing her nose non-stop and complaining about being sooooooooooooo sick and feeling like she was going to die because she couldn't breathe. :help: :help: :help:

You can take the Kit Kat bar and you and JJ can go enjoy it! Please spare me the Serena fans bit, because unlike Jelena when Serena is injured she pulls out of a tournament and not hardly ever harp on it until the last minute.

You never heard her say during Wimbledon 2007, before her match with Justine that it hurt and she might not play or any other tournament, then played the next week and the week after that.

People are trying to give JJ the benefit of the doubt but she keep harping on it but yet she's still playing. Hopman Cup she was playing and threatening her career yet she played doubles. And practically every tournament she could since then. It becomes really ridiculous after a while and even as a fan you cannot seriously deny it or pass it on to another player.

Wimbledon 07 anyone? Serena acted like she had just torn her ACL yet still managed to play comfortably later on, not to mention take Justine to 3 sets.

Sickening and classless, and almost makes me want to rant and rant about your favorites, but I'm better than that because I respect Serena and Venus. Too many people on this forum live by double standards. I love how people make it all about slams. I'm not laughing. I do think she is injured. Anybody who ABUSES their body like she does only has one place to go and that is DOWN. It's really common sense. Jelena does plays too much and will never win a slam. She is a good player and will beat some players, but her game hasn't improved and her mentality is still the same. Tennis is mental. She still doesn't have the smart mind to ease up on her body and train properly. She can say she is smart all she wants but passing a test doesn't amount to a hill of beans if you don't have common sense and good social skills.

You can take the Kit Kat bar and you and JJ can go enjoy it! Please spare me the Serena fans bit, because unlike Jelena when Serena is injured she pulls out of a tournament and not hardly ever harp on it until the last minute.

Spare me the Serena fans bit? And why should we do that? I, personally, love Serena...but anytime any Serena fan starts bitching about JJ I dig something up about her. If you're a fan of a drama queen then you don't go around calling other player that no matter if she's an even bigger drama queen. Serena (WS) fans came in here bitching and got some of that back...So what?

You never heard her say during Wimbledon 2007, before her match with Justine that it hurt and she might not play or any other tournament, then played the next week and the week after that.

They are different. JJ smiles and talks a lot.
What tournaments are played in weeks after Wimbledon? My guess is JJ wouldn't play them either. :tape:

People are trying to give JJ the benefit of the doubt but she keep harping on it but yet she's still playing. Hopman Cup she was playing and threaten her career yet she played doubles. And practically every tournament she could since then. It becomes really ridiculous after a while and even as a fan you cannot seriously deny it or pass it on to another player.

Wow, people are trying to give her the benefit of the doubt. Please, stop it, there's no need for that. Anyone who saw JJ's match today knows she's injured. Anyone who watched Wimbledon knew she was injured and could have seen the exact moment of the injury. Why would JJ retire against Golovin after breaking her in the very first game of their match at HC if not because of injury? If she plays the next tournament it doesn't make her not injured, maybe less injured...Who knows? Players play through niggling injuries all the time. JJ talks about them and that is the difference, but she's also being asked about it a lot. So, she's a drama queen...It doesn't mean her injuries are "fake" and that when she's blowing her nose it's because it's part of a conspiracy...:weirdo:

For me, personally, the thing I found most irritating is that she continues to play at such a high level despite the supposed injuries.

It's something I'm not used to. That is what's sparred most of the dislike I had for Jelena before. I've learned to ignore her, though, and my toleration of her has increased rapidly in the process.

This time is different. Since Wimbledon, her level has dropped considerably lower, and from the reports I've read she was terrible against Black due to those injuries.

I hope she gets better soon.

My problem with her is that she is another predictable robot. I do think she is hurt and I do think she abuses her body and doesn't have the braincells to train properly. She has talent and coud win a slam, but it's obvious that she'll never stop being a robot. thus, she never win a freakin grandslam. Not unless she changes her brain and her mental mindset. Tennis is more than hitting a yellow ball. Esp. on the big stage. Just a matter of time and I am sorry if the truth hurts. She is good enough to win majors but just not smart enough. Anna K did the same thing. Heck, Anna K is still one of the most talented russians. Her net skills alone would thrash the top 10 Russians we see now. She just didn't have it mentally.

Between tournament - Jelena will give news on her web-site to her FANS who want to know - not hypoctites and haters like you. No-one is forcing you to read what she said in her answers. Noone forced you to come in this thread. If you don't want to know - like you "claim" don't read it.
What! a athlete now's when to stop playing and rest-up. they hit the gym. all what JJ does is loose and complain about her injuries. her management are idiots for letting her play.

True, but it's fun to rub in,

Adds to the drama?

I'm off to sleep...I leave you to bitch about "officially" the best player in the world...and that is JJ, the "real" #1, if you had any doubts. ;)

What was hypocritical about what I posted?

I think it's dreadful that a player would rather KEEP playing while injured, as opposed to taking a couple events off to rehab and get better.

As irritated as I may have been in the past about Serena's rogue tournament withdrawals, at least I've never doubted that she's done what's best for her body.

And I'm not a hater. She's the #1 player in the world right now. She represents the WTA to the rest of the world. I just want to make sure she's taking care of herself. People are going to be talking about her now and watching her from here on out.

I mean, if she's injured and can't get through a tournament w/o medical assistance in every round, then maybe she should take some time off. Lord knows, with all of the deaths we've had this year, we don't need the WTA Tour #1 player in the world dying of a Tylenol overdose :o

I'm so bored by this post that I have to reply...;)

Spare me the Serena fans bit? And why should we do that? I, personally, love Serena...but anytime any Serena fan starts bitching about JJ I dig something up about her. If you're a fan of a drama queen then you don't go around calling other player that no matter if she's an even bigger drama queen. Serena (WS) fans came in here bitching and got some of that back...So what?

Hold your horses cowboy! Not every fan of Serena is a fan of Venus, and not every Fan of Venus is a fan of Serena, so first of all let not lump everyone and call them WS. If you are talking about Serena let's just talk about Serena.
Now there are degree of everything in life so one can be a bigger drama queen than another. Again Serena may retire from matches because of injuries or not play a particular tournament but she does not point to the injury every two seconds and tell the word that it's career threatening if she does not play. If she's injured and she feels it's not worth the risk to play on she moves on end of story.

They are different. JJ smiles and talks a lot.
What tournaments are played in weeks after Wimbledon? My guess is JJ wouldn't play them either. :tape:

I never said they were alike, not to persons are alike but just like you have issue with Serena, her fans can have issues with JJ. I also never said that tournaments are played weeks after Wimbledon, I used the fact that Serena after her injury at Wimbledon in '07 did not play again for some time but JJ has been known to have career threatening injuries in one tournament and still play the following week or two if there are tournaments available. Is she injured? Maybe! we may never know some feel they are exaggerated, right or wrong that's their opinion.

Please don't tell me to stop what I'm feeling. Yes people are willing to give any player the benefit of the doubt, but after a while if someone has a particular pattern people will question it. Again right or wrong as they may be it's only human nature to speculate. I never said JJ was not injured at Wimbledon so I have no idea why you would go there. And I don't have a clue as to why she would retire after breaking Golovin in the FIRST GAME of their match at HC. I do know though, that the first game/break of a match does not win so who know Golovin could have broken back. It is the WTA after all! Again one does not play with career threatening injuries week after week, and no matter how you slice and dice it, you know that would be ridiculous. I agree she's asked about them but I'm sure if the words were not thrown out before hand all the time she would not be asked as much. And please I never said that her injuries were fake, so please don't put words in my mouth. And I never brought up her blowing her nose, I did however say it can be irritating to hear someone mention being injured yet doing nothing obvious to the viewer to not get further injuries or aggravate the situation.

Just wonderful!

JJ's pearls of wisdom for today (from Serbian website):
http://www.b92.net/sport/peking2008/tenis/vesti.php?yyyy=2008&mm=08&dd=12&nav_id=313050

"Like yesterday, against Cara Black, the injury was my biggest opponent. My leg still hurts, so in some moments of the match I was thinking more about how I should move than how to win the point", said the #1 player in the world.

Jankovic said that she was fighting for every point today and that she had to work very hard to win.

"Nonetheless, I'm satisfied cos I played better than yesterday. I think I'll be more stable and more sure of my shots on Wednesday. I'll need to play much better because my next opponent is a tough one", Jelena said.

JJ reminded the reporters that Dominika Cibulkova, her next opponent, is a fighter and "tricky" opposition.

"She moves very well and she can play long matches. I saw that last year in Kosice. The most important thing is that I get better (injury wise)", added Jelena.
