A hardcourt win. :yeah:

I really hope Peng wins the next round. I like them both equally but it would be nice to see Peng do well in China.

Uhm...this isn't really an upset.
Cornet will develop into very good HC player IMO, she just doesn't have as much experience on it. Plus she IS the higher ranked player and is having a much better year by far. Congrats Cornet!! Excellent win!

I think Nicole just needs a bit more time. As long as she stays dedicated things will turn around. This was a very close match too, not a terrible loss. Hoping for good things at the USO Nicole!

I think it is time for Nicole to either take a break or even retire at such a young age. She is miserable and doesn't seem to care anymore. obviously she has other things going on in her life and i think it's time she hangs up the rackets and pursues another profession...she is a very intelligent girl. she has definitely left her mark in the past, but has little hope for the future.

congrats to alize though! a good win for her considering the surface.

gives Vaidisova more time to rest for the USO.
that might help her a lot of if a lot of top players come into the USO all tired and shiz.

Nicole is just fed of with tennis. That's all.
She was sick last year, so she had to build again a good physic for tennis, then she is 19 and engaged, she surely dreams of a "normal" life with his fiance... you can see that this year she often attends Radek Stepanek's matches (like in Rome) even she was in Berlin yesterday... :weirdo: in two days, she travels from Berlin to Rome in order to join Radek... She cares again for tennis, because she did a semi in Wimbledon (we must say she had a very good draw... not like today in Olympics), she switched coach and mainly she is still playing. But I have the feeling the fire is leaving...
She must take a break, I strongly believe she needs one, I don't want her to retire, she has so much potential... it would be a pity she retires.

I thought the problem was firstly in her mononucleosis , draining her strengh, her muscles... for an athlet, it takes what? near six months to a year for recovering... and overall she switched her coach, and I don't think miracles happen with them : once your father fired and another coach hired, you cannot perform well on the moment  she needed some time to settle herself, to find her bearings again... those detail who made her game and her trainings sessions...

I hope that's this which makes Nicole more and more tired... because soon, things will turn off... and she will be back.

But I don't think this is the case. I am afraid she will take a break or worse, she will retire.

Because she has been keeping the ball in the court the other times this year, right? :spit:

Aug 11th, 2008, 05:21 PM
it is not ALL Radek's fault...so stop saying that. I'm sure she knows what is going on and if she wants to choose him over tennis, that is her choice. a marraige will last longer than a tennis career.
