Just wondering if CTA is monopolizing its coaching on the Chinese players? And didn't she get coached my Michael Chang before?

Don't know what you mean by the first question.

Yes, Michael Chang did coach Shuai exclusively for part of 2007. I saw them practicing together at Charleston daily, and he was in the stands for her matches. Shuai has talked about it and there are quotes/interview about it in her forum. She was happy when she was working with him, and he really did help her a lot. But afterward, what she has said seems like she was not so thrilled with the arrangement.

I meant to ask if CTA requires all Chinese players to be coached exclusively by them, which was perhaps the reason why Michael Chang stopped coaching her?

CTA hires coaches and fitness trainers. A lot of them are foreign, so no.... it's not Chinese coaches.

Unless that's who the player wants.... Na for example works with her husband.

Shuai has had a coach from Florida that she liked and CTA hired him in the past; and I think a second time too.

Not sure who is with her now.

One of the big concessions CTA has made in the last few years was to allow the players to have their own coaches. And they made a big deal about hiring the foreign fitness trainers after so many injuries in 2007. CTA knows they need outside help.. that is not really an issue.

I believe MC stopped coaching Shuai because he could not get a long term or guaranteed deal with CTA - it was too temporary for him.
