Oh Zi
I think she really felt the pressure, which didn't help combined with her slump.

Poor Zi
I hope this serves as a banishing of nerves for her and Jie's doubles campaign. GO FOR GOLD!!

Before Yan Zi is condemned, can anyone provide at least a two paragraph report on the match?

Another quick win came from Russian ninth seed Vera Zvonareva, who wrapped up a 6-2, 6-0 win over China's Yan Zi.
"The opponent put a lot of pressure on the baseline, and I made too many mistakes," said Yan.
"In the pre-Olympics practice, I paid much attention on doubles, I think it is more important to me."
To a noisy home crowd, Yan became another casualty of unforced errors, registering 42 to only 24 of her Russian opponent. Yan, having won the Grand Slam two times in doubles event, only managed one break but lost six serves of her own.

Zi has left the building as far as singles is concerned. She needs to drop outside the top 200 and then she'll start rocking out the qualies again.

Vera was in a slump coming into Beijing. But her mom won an Olympic medal, so she's probably very motivated for this week.
