Depends on which Serena shows up (willing to win from the get go or slowly getting in form for the Olympics and beyond?): she'll probably be a bit rusty, so better to wait and see. She can win this steamrolling the opponents, or have a bad day against Schnyder (who always causes her some headache) and exit early

I don't like Zvonareva in QF though, and Schiavone is a tricky player, but if Mamaport is healthy we might have an interesting SF ;).

Anyway, Serena is the favourite but we'll see how Lindsay's injury holds early in the tournament.

Cake walk for Serena Lindsay might have something to say about that. Lindsay has a good draw even though she got a seed in the first round. Should have very little problems with Franny in the first round but Vera should be Lindsay's first big test in the quarter finals. If Lindsay's knee stays healthy she had a great chance to add to add another title to the collection. :)

Yes you are right, but the question is who wins this?
There are much stronger and better shape players in the draw.
You can't ignore this fact.
I personally admire Patty, she has such a special game style, I am thrilled watching her games.

i see it as the easy half of the draw . as you said, she has got peer (probably) in round 2 who hasnt been in good form as of late but had a good wimbledon. bartoli (slump) or mirza (coming back from injury, unpredictable) in quarters. then hantuchova (coming back from injury) or petrova (unpredictable this year) in semis.

compared to 1st half which features serena, davenport, zvonareva & schnyder - the top 4 favourites IMO

i was agreeing with you untill the schnyder bit, shes a great player but not a favourite, i'd put chaky as the 4th favourite and your right the other 3 favourites are on the other half of the draw. if chaky could make the final i would be over the moon and realy win or lose the final i'd be happy!

Everyone watch out for Kleybanova-she is a big girl and just smacks the ball so hard. She doesn't have much control, but if she has a good day, yikes!! She had me worried in the 2nd set of Wimbledon match against Venus.

It's unfortunate that Dementieva didn't play here. It's a pretty decent field (compared to what the event usually gets) and Dementieva would have been 1 more big name.
