Wierd year, since the Olympics are two weeks before the US Open....

Jul 14 T2 Stanford, CA
Jul 21 T2 Los Angeles, CA
Jul 28 T1 Montreal (Rogers Cup)
Aug 11 OG Beijing
Aug 11 T3 Cincinnati, OH
Aug 18 T2 New Haven, CT
Aug 18 T4 Forest Hills, NY
Aug 25 GS US Open

Brings in issues of jet lag and split focus we don't see mos years. And I don't really know if Cinncinati and Forest Hills are all that relevant.

This year's slam winners have all shown weakness at slams they haven't won.
OZ RG WB
FR CH 3r Ivanovic
CH 4r 2r Sharapova
QF 3r CH Venus

Not exactly world domination by any of them. Ivanovic has performed the best this year (hence her ranking), but the worst recently. The highest ranked player to amke the 4th round or better at all three slams this year? Elena Dementieva. Not my pick for US Open champ. If she's playing the Olympics though, she's a good bet to medal.

Obviously we all have out favorites, but for once, the year-to-date offers no clear favorite going forward.

2008 US Open champion .... Agnieszka Radwanska?

many top players are expected to skip Montreal if you ask me. The field will be like eastbourne when the MD matches begins.
New haven got a weaker field than last year probably due to olympics a weak before.

So it hard to predict who will have the best HC record this season

Maria or Ana can't win the US Open Series.
I think Maria can win Montreal, but she must rise her level.

I could be wrong, but the sadder part is only Jankovic, Dementieva, and Radwanska have done it this year.

It seems the top players aren't playing shit this summer hardcourt season.

Tough call. I'd give Serena Williams, Venus Williams and Anna Chakvetadze the best chances but I would not be surprised the see the winner of US Summer hardcourt season go to someone completely unexpected out of the top eight.

As for the US Open itself, again a very tough call. I'd say any of the two Williams sisters, the two top Serbians, Kuznetsova and Radwanska.

Somehow I don't see Sharapova as a factor at the moment, she seems distracted by other things right now. I can hardly blame her if truth be told.

Actually, everyone but Serena is entered in Montreal. Even with a few withdrawals, it'll be so much better than Eastbourne.

Jul 14 T2 Stanford, CA - Serena
Jul 21 T2 Los Angeles, CA - Venus
Jul 28 T1 Montreal (Rogers Cup) - Venus
Aug 11 OG Beijing - Venus/Serena. Not sure. Probably Venus since she will have a weeks rest.
Aug 11 T3 Cincinnati, OH - Zvonereva
Aug 18 T2 New Haven, CT - Don't know who's playing
Aug 18 T4 Forest Hills, NY - Vesnina
Aug 25 GS US Open - Venus
I just have this feeling about Venus. I may be wrong but although there's these articles about her being tired, she seems mch fresher than last year and shes only playing weeks in a row twice (WImbledon - WTT) (LA - Montreal) unlike last year when she had a similar schedule but with Fed cup also. Go Venus!

Whoever wins Montreal will win the US Open series.

Only if they play another event. I think (but I could be wrong) that you have to play at least 2 tournaments to win the US Open Series. Since I don't see Maria, Ana or Serena play anything besides Montreal - Beijing - US Open none of them will won for sure.

So there's Venus who plays L.A and Montreal and JJ who I think will play more then 1 tourney.

Besides these two I think that Chakvetadze will have good results and defend a lot of her points from last year as she is not playing the Olympics but will enter tournaments when the top players are preparing for the Olymoics.

do you really belive serena will show up there. ?
beacuse serena has history of pulling out the events she committs to.

Anyway, the draw will look just like Eastbourne. (with or without Serena.)

I don't think you read it properly... Everyone but Serena is entered into it. ;)

Anyhow most top players have historys of pulling out of events to commit to why? Because of the WTA forcing players to certain tournaments... Either that or they stay entered and only pull out of the last moment so that more tickets sell. Go read Maria's website.

Whoever wins Montreal will win the US Open series.

The funny thing is who ever wins Toronto goes on to win the USO(2007, 2005, 2003) and who ever wins Montreal doesn't.

I think Venus could win USO series since she entered LA and Montreal, but doubt she'll play both.

Y'all bitches best stop putting Vee in the same category as Maria and Ana.

When she wins a slam something positive normally comes out of the next slam. And this is Wimby and USO. ;)

Wait so Serena is playing Stanford, LA AND Olympics?

And Vee LA, Montreal and Olympics?

I fancy one of them two winning it.

Actually sorry Vee i am going to go all out and say Serena. She hasn't lost a match in america yet and i don't see why she should lose at Stanford or LA.
