With Serena at #3 and Venus at #8 in the YEC race, respectively, in singles, and 9th in the doubles race.

It's a fair statement to predict that both of them will qualify for the YEC in singles, but do you think they can do it in doubles too?

And if they do, could one of them win both titles?

Has anyone ever done that before?

You have to be in the top 4 in doubles don't you? Even if they won the USO that would be tough, although they are playing in the Olympics, too. But I doubt they will qualify for doubles?

They plan to play LA, Olympics, but I doubt the USO, so I don't think they'll make it

I don't know for sure, but if there was an equivalent, I'd be shocked if Martina Nav didn't do this.

Hingis did this in 2000 with Kournikova. She won the Chase in singles in 1998 & 2000, and won Chase in doubles in 1999 & 2000 (both with Anna K.)

I'm not too sure, but Lindsay Davenport and Martina Hingis may have.

Martina Nav did it in 78 and 80 with Billie Jean King, and 81-86 with Pam Shriver. :)

Jana Novotna did it in 1997, partnering Lindsay Davenport, and beating Pierce in the final in singles.

Billie Jean King also did this in 1971 partnering Rosie Casals.

I wish we'd have more singles players in the top ranks of doubles... near impossible these days tho :(

not likely they'll even play.... I mean Venus has qualified for the YEC at least 5 times now right? I think... and shes only played twice.... i dont think they'd play even if they qualified...

Dementieva won the doubles Year-End Champs in 2002. She'll finish the YEC sweep this year. :)

:haha:

They would never play both! It is a struggle to get them to play in singles let alone doubles as well

But yeah :)
