I will give you one more story before I leave our virtual SKF house and go to sleep, I absolutely hated sewing (hasn't anyone heard of superglue to put a button on?)at school and to this day I still do and I think my teacher sensed this and gave me stupid projects so I got sick of it and threaded a massive pin up through her seat so when she sat down she would get pricked, well she sat down and I never attended a sewing lesson ever again, it was a win-win situation

One of my teachers blames me whenever people talk in the lesson. He actually swore at me in the middle of a lecture but it was not even me talking i was day dreaming and sitting on my own because he moved me away from everyone.

I did things like that too. put a pin on you teachers seat or blow up a condom and when clas begins throw it in the air they dont know how to react. or put glue on the door handle. I ones throw something at the teacher and saw him turning:fiery: I blamed a other student and he felt for it. just things like that I can go on and on

I quit drinking Coca Cola,Pepsi and all that shit this year as I have had stomach problems in february, not as serious as yours, but doctors told me this was very unhealthy and didn't help me.Before that I was a big consumer of coca cola,I drank it every day of my life :o I don't miss it at all.I feel better since I drink and eat healthier.

In addition to Women's Day there's an an actual Mother's Day in Russia as well. I'm guessing it's not a very big deal for some families, but my grandma always reminds me to give my mom a call :) It is celebrated on last Sunday of November. I know for sure there's no Father's Day in Russia.

Well, I think all of you can send me a virtual hug in a couple of weeks, then ;). I committed parenthood.

On another note, I'm not sure about bringing up "heavy" subjects here, but rarely have I sat down and read a book in one sitting (well, broken in half by my son's soccer match), and even more rarely has a book been life-changing. I read Monica Seles' new book today. Back in the early 1990's, she was my crush du jour, right up there with Gabby ;):hearts:. Then, the stabbing happened, and she really seemed to flounder for a long time.

I too went through a trauma, and started eating to avoid dealing with myself and what happened. Then I just repeated that pattern through anything else that happened-having a Downs' child, my marriage falling apart, the deaths of my parents. Even "good" things could set off so much anxiety that food was the only answer. I hope I have Monica's strength and courage to face this in myself. What's strange to me was that I was in the bookstore, but nowhere near the new releases or even the sports section, and saw the book on a table, the last copy. I need to do this. No program or diet or whatever will work long-term until I do.

Apr 24th, 2009, 04:39 PM
I can't wait to read Monica's book too.Not only because she was my big favourite for a long while (I also had a crush on her and on Gaby.Seems like we have similar taste ;) ),but also for the subject she writes about.I read the other day an extract of it and I found it very touching.I definitely have to read this one.

I too hope you find your inner strength  everyone has it but to find it and then use it can be the biggest challenge, keep searching, you will find it!:)

I just adore Holland. My favorite cousin and his family live there and I've never had a bad time. Xmas and New years at Holland is the best! :D A little sad I can't go to holland this summer but at least I went at new years :)

NO ONE I know likes tennis and that is why I went to wimbledon last year alone :sobbing: I think I may have some volunteers but sheesh they're hard to come by once they realise they have to pay Ł30+ :p
Tennis does a lot for me, I can't believe I only got into it recently. I mean I was and still am a hardcore football fan therefore the transition to a individual sport was rather interesting but it's great!:D

I also don't have friends who enjoy tennis as I do,they are into other things,so when I go to tournaments I go with people I've known in this forum (from Spain). We first met in 2006 for YEC in Madrid. Now everytime there's a good chance to go watch tennis together and we can go,we plan trip together. For Moscow last year it was different.I was on a trip there for my holodays so I went to tennis on my own and still enjoyed it.Also in tournaments you get to meet new people as well, other tennis fans,as crazy as we are,I still write from time to time with a french lady I met at Madrid in 2006 who was a huge Amélie fan (it could not be any other way ) and that invited me among the french fans and even lend me a "bleu, blanc, rouge" tshirt for all of Amélie's matchs and that was very nice as she knew I also loved Sveta and as I missed her practise session but she was there, she got Sveta to sign a poster for me.

Back to Anne's post,I agree with you and I feel the same way. This place has become special not only because we follow and discuss Sveta, but because I love reading what you all write,I have fun when you write funny things,I feel bad when you write not such funny things, and in general,it's a place where I feel among friends. It didn't use to be like that. When I started to follow Sveta, there was not a lot going on on this forum, but little by little I've met in this forum people that I appreciate a lot.

Hi SKF's, honestly I'm still a bit devo (devastated) about Fed Cup, I definitely don't blame any Russian players and have resigned to the fact that Fran was just too good, I’m also sad that Sveta probably won't be playing Fed Cup next year but it will give other players a chance to step up.

I really, really, really enjoy the company of all SKF’s :) partly because of the common bond we share but also because I can learn more about different cultures, different personalities etc. I always notice when people are missing from the forum for longer than a day or two, and right now I miss Mel though I don’t even really know her . I have observed other forums and there is so much in-house fighting, I’m so happy it doesn’t happen here. I have been following Sveta for years and if I knew this site existed I would have been on here sooner.

I actually enjoy hauling my ass out of bed to go online and follows Sveta’s game with everyone, btw I can only watch livestreaming on weekends because my internet is wireless during the week

Two of my friends follow tennis (ATP) and I go to AO with them every year, we always split up within 5 minutes of entering the grounds and go to see different matches, I text them if I see any of their favorite’s hitting up and they do the same. I don’t normally eat while watching tennis because I’m usually in bed ready to sleep or just woken up
Anyway that’s enough from me, I’m started to go all mushy….ugh!

I had a mini-dream about Sveta earlier tonight, Amelie was playing at Stuttgart but it was in the Colosseumm, the court was red clay, she was against Barbara Schett and all the chairs were smurf blue. Anyway Sveta was running around outside getting really angry because she didn't have livestream for Amelie's match, so she starts texting Amelie who has already started her match to get a livestream....then I woke up = How bizarre!

Speaking of dreams, does anyone else ever have that horrible dream that their teeth are falling out or crumbling? I'm thinking this is universal but I'll put the question out there anyway.

Ugh, I've dreamt that. Do you know any of the interpretations?

Ziggy Starduck
Apr 29th, 2009, 10:59 AM
Thank goodness Anne, I was beginning to think it wasn't universal at all, the dream usually means a fear of growing old, dying or change which I think is total :bs: because I don't have a fear of any of them  btw only just over 2 hours left till Sveta's game :bounce:

Hiiiii Maaazzzz, thanks for time check. Not scared about swine flu, would love to be quarantined for a few days with my laptop, there are unconfirmed cases of about 80-90 people in oz with it because of a plane full of New Zealanders who have potentially spread their love around a little too much  I just hope I don't get one of those swine tails because then I'd have to cut a whole in all of my pants to accomodate it

I'm usually a pretty early riser, even on weekends, all my life. :). On school days, the bus comes at around 7:00 AM, so everyone's up by 6 AM. Today was one of those mornings where I woke up way early and decided it wasn't worth going back to sleep, so I just got up and futzed around.

My one concession to old lady-hood comes at breakfast :p. I fix myself a juice smoothie, then it's usually Cheerios (an oat cereal) or All-Bran for me, but I make the best eggs and French toast in this state, bar none ;). You would always be welcome, with that Oz accent like the crocodile hunter . How I wish I really did have company to pull up a chair and talk to.

Hi, Karen :wavey:. I'm not worried for myself, but I am for my son, who has a depressed immune system. I am going to call and find out if he needs an immunization of some kind.

Once you learn the alphabet, Russian isn't too bad (spoken by me, who has little knowledge :p). At least it is a very phonetic language-what you see is what you say .

English is the worst. Lots of silent letters, words that are spelled the same but sound different, silly grammar rules, and lots of idioms ;). How do you explain why "cough" and "through" sound the way they do?

PersephoneDisco
Apr 29th, 2009, 01:25 PM
Yeah I think once you get the hang of the alphabet, everything should fall into place.I've forgotten russian and I still can't believe I ever spoke it because it sounds so foreign to me. English is easy for me for obvious reasons :p But I totally understand, the only similar language would be the inuit(if I remember correctly) language that has like a gazillion words for snow :p

damn, again I missed a lot of conversation here :( but I have read Maz's dad thinks russian is easy:eek: I heard from lots of ppl it's hard to study russian. I have 3 classmates at Uni who r abroad students and even living in Russia for almost 6 years they still can't speak it perfecrtly (well perfectly is a strong word, they can't speak it understandably). It's so hard to speak with them, sometimes we ask to change for english.

for person who knows language it always seems that lang was easy to learn. as I speak ukranian I sometimes has a bad habit to put ukranian words in conversation. my friends are angry with this and I angry with them cause it seems for me that Ukranian is so easy to understand. but it's not that easy esp for person who never never was intrested in ukranian.

PS: forgot to add- I'm off from hospital! I spent there about 1 month and now I'm so happy to feel ok again!!!!:bounce:

we had something strange in our country today maybe people saw it on tv know it was on tv in germany and belgium. it is queensday over here today but a crazy guy drove in to the area where the bus was riding with the royal family he drove through 2 securty zones and drove into the crowed and tryed to ride into the bus with the family but he just missed it. there are 5 people dead and 5 in danger and 7 lightly injured. he was fired from his job and thought this was a good idea he is still alive but also in danger.

Yes it's pretty shocking what happened today.
I wonder what is wrong with this man.

I have no idea why he thinks it but maybe he just picked it up really easily? He's fluent and sounds russian too even if he really doesn't look like it. I think you should give it a go! :d

well he didnt say it himself cuz he was in surgery but he got fired and he was working in securty himself so that is why people think he did it but he also could do it against the royal family but I dont think so cuz they do nothing wrong nobody in this country has something against them

Please don't delete it Mel :D, it's only a link so people can choose whether they subject themselves to it or not, I hadn't heard anything about it so I'll look at it later.

I am so Sorry for all the people involved

Just out of curiousity, Is the monarchy in Belgium only constituitional/figurehead like spain's or is it actually functional?

I am very sorry, too .

I agree with Stef. Everyone can decide whether to watch or not-there was nothing wrong with posting it.
