*pokes* Yep, there's a Stef in there ;).

I don't mention my personal life much, but I think after this week I'm ready to go live on a mountain somewhere so I won't fall for anyone EVER AGAIN . I won't, of course, and it's OK. I'm throwing myself into my work and getting healthy. But, yuck.

 Oh Anna, you'll get back on the love horse when you're ready ;) And stop poking me  it hurts :p

Well it looks like JuJu has got TF all in a frenzy, I personally think it can only be a good thing, I just hope she doesn't bomb out in her first few matches.

To be honest, I can't say I'm particularly excited by her comeback. Her matches with Sveta were cruel to say the least:sobbing:

Anne  Escaping to the montain is something I've also thought before :tape:

So Justine is really coming back? :D I might be the only one here happy about it but I really think this is good news for tennis.Kim's comeback made me indifferent because I never liked her,but Justine it's different, her tennis is so beautiful to see :hearts: I know Sveta's head-to-head against her is cruel as Anushka said (but she still managed to beat her twice and I'm sure she'll do it again ;) ),but at least when Sveta will be bounced out early of the tournaments,I'll have the enjoyable tennis of the belgian to watch on tv or live.

Talking about Sveta, any news that she's already in Tokyo or when does she leave? She's been so quiet. Not even updated her blog as she does before a long series of tournaments. She probably really needed a break after the disappointing hard court season  but I miss her a lot :sobbing:

Just got said I have tomorrow a job interview. Finally some good news :D

I am not really happy with justine coming back. and I dont think her matches with sveta wont be as cruell as they used to be. justine was already playing worse when she stopped and now she has to come back in to the tournament en for some reason I dont think she will do it like clijsters. clijsters is making a big start but I am still wondering how long that will take.

Sep 22nd, 2009, 08:35 PM
thanks girls ;) No,Dorien,I don't have a stable job at the moment, only some translations and classes when I'm asked for, which is not all the time unfortunately.

Well I think at this point it's difficult to know what will be Justine's level of play when she comes back.Let her be back first. For Kim I think she exceeded her expectations and everybody's expectations, but I'm also not sure how long it will last.As for Justine apparently she wants to win Wimbledon, that's one of the reasons why she's back. We'll see.Anyway this only makes the tour more interesting imo.

Back to Sveta, someone should maybe open a thread already for Tokyo? I think we'll have draw on weekend so it's coming closer ;)

maybe a song for her? we can all say what we want to express to her and as you write very good you can put it into some known tune? or is it silly again?
then the idea would be when some SKF get together for a tournament,we sing it to her if we are not too shy about it :tape: and if she doesn't make a strange or horrified face,we send her the lyrics or even a video of us singing. But this is only fun if we can be a group of people and at this moment I think it is not clear when and if we are to meet next year.Am I sounding too crazy here?

Анна
Sep 28th, 2009, 08:17 PM
That's not a bad thought, but if I could be paid not to sing, I'd be a millionaire :p. My voice is even worse than Sveta's karaoke attempt.

My idea, and it's probably silly, is each of us send one SKF (okay, I volunteer) a postcard from your country with a message on the back for Sveta. Then I'd send them all together to her (assuming we could even get an address or Laurie to help us do that). Told you it was sort of silly...

Анна
Sep 28th, 2009, 08:20 PM
Oh, and speaking of cards, it's almost October and I want to get my address book updated for Christmas/holiday cards to those of you who want one from me. So if you do, please send me a private message with your address exactly as I need to write it out. I know there are some new SKF's here, like Stef and Maz :). This time I'm planning to do international cards early, around our Thanksgiving at the latest.

Света_мой_№1
Sep 28th, 2009, 08:38 PM
yeah I would love a card but you already have a adress from me..

and if anyone else want one from me please pm me too.

then I got a adress to send cards to sveta but you send it too wta people and they give it to sveta if you want I can give you the adress and we can do that plan.

then vero's idea maybe its not smart singing something and you know how I sing and annette to so it would not be smart. but we could make a video and we dont have to be all together(we could)but just post a part with what you want to say to her and then we have to find someone who can make a video of that all together maybe some of her favorite music in between. this is also something we can do more then ones. like on her birthday maybe we could sing happy birthday then.

and maybe we should make more plans like this that she hears more from us.

Bероника
Sep 28th, 2009, 10:09 PM
I don't know why everybody is afraid to sing even when they sing bad. It's funny even if you are a disaster at it :p I'm also not a good singer but I don't care

But ok,the card and video part is a great idea too.I'll have to find out how to make a video and send it. If we do this I'm sure she'll think we are a crazy bunch, but a dedicated crazy bunch so she'll like it.and yes,we can do it if we plan it with time, for everytime there's some important date, like Xmas,New Year, birthday, maybe some other one?

well we all have that and sveta too.

but then about the RG final what if she doesnt win or what was your plan vero

Bероника
Sep 29th, 2009, 10:51 PM
It doesn't matter if she doesn't win it again (besides the final is not played on the same day every year),but she'll always remember that date because it's the day she won her first RG.I know I will remember it and we should declare that day official party day for SKFs :p

Ok,so back to the project think,we rule out the singing since nobody but me seems to appreciate the idea.

The video is very nice idea and I think more personal than just writing, but if you don't feel like speaking on a video like Dorien,it's no problem, you can only write her.But really you shouldn't worry about not being good at talking english,I'm also not (you can ask Mel and Annette about it  :help: ) and as Mel said Sveta herself doesn't speak perfect english, she has a huge accent if that's what you fear.If it's about what you are going to say,you can write it before and then tell it to the video like when you prepared a lesson for school and told it in front of the teacher, except it will be seen by a very special "teacher" Come on,it can be fun ;) Maybe I'll be brave enough and say some words in russian if we finally do the video thing :D

But if we are going to make one for Xmas (I think that's the first important date coming),we should start preparing it early so that later we make it get to her on time and all that.

Maybe we should open a separate thread for the project.Since the project was Mel's idea, she should be the one opening it.And also it would be interesting to know how many people and who is interested in participating in it.

Анна
Sep 30th, 2009, 05:45 AM
Well, even I don't speak perfect English :p. It is a nightmare language to learn, and you're all far more fluent than you give yourself credit for. And as for accents, I tend to pick up the accent of the area I'm in, so I sound like Scarlett O'Hara out of Pittsburgh . I need to spend a year somewhere else to get rid of it ;).

Sveta probably wouldn't understand a word of my English, but my Spanish or Russian would be even worse. But I'd definitely do the tape thing, and on second thought, I would even sing a few bars, Vero :wavey:. But how would the logistics of this work?

Well, each of us has to find a way to make a video (I think I can make short videos on my camera photo,so probably on most digital cameras this is a possibility),then we should put all the videos together,so we have to think how to make this.Anyone here is good with video things? that's why we need a project thread to put all the ideas in there and everyone says in what way they can contribute.

Maybe we can upload all our videos somewhere so that the person who is going to send them can collect them all together in a CD.Or have you thought of any other way,Mel?

BTW, is Sveta playing Kremlin Cup, or just the rest of this and Doha, do you know?

Bероника
Oct 8th, 2009, 08:03 PM
Unless she has changed her mind,no,no Kremlin Cup for her this year. With the change of dates,it's difficult for the top players to go there,it doesn't make much sense to go play on indoor the week before YEC and get to Doha with no time for practise.I see in next year's calendar it's also on the same dates. What a stupid schedule and a way to let the only WTA event in Russia without its biggest stars  brilliant idea  I read Safina and Dementieva are not playing either this year, for the same reasons as Sveta when the 3 of them have played there I think every year since they became pro.

About Momo, yeah,I'm not holding much hope that she'll be back next year.I prefer to think that way rather than wait and wait and wait for it to never happen as with Seles.Everything comes to an end, better to accept it

Just found this on GM,players entered in the first tournaments of next year.

Brisbane: Azarenka, Ivanovic, Bartoli, Stosur, Mauresmo
Auckland: Dementieva, Wozniacki, Razzano, Medina Garrigues, Vesnina
Sydney: Safina, S.Williams, Dementieva, Wozniacki, Kuznetsova
Hobart: Pennetta, Razzano, Vesnina, Wickmayer, Dulko

I guess no real big surprise to know she'll start her season and preparation for AO in Sydney.

yeah she should just play another year, no pressure, just relax and see how she likes that, oh and with a giant party at somepoint.

the millions of beijing pics are giving me an avatar crisis  i think i am just going to make loads and change them every day :o

1.Well,Sveta probably wasn't there anymore. And she had not much to celebrate.I think the party was only for the medalists and sadly Sveta wasn't one of them

2.Vera is the cutest thing alive :hearts:

3.oh yeah, that is Larissa  I didn't pay attention at her when I first watched the video, but that is Larissa no doubt.

4.Ni idea, but maybe a russian basket player? I know Sveta went to watch and encourage them on some basket matchs, and some of them were probably at the tennis too,so maybe they were also invited to the tennis party.

just to let her know we feel for her and we should to this fast so anne you posted it last time could you help us again or someone who can react to her blog also.

what is the rough draft?

its what she will put in the letter but she will make little changes.

I was thinking about just one piece all together and then much love skf (svetlana kuznetsova family) and then who is in the family so our own names.

and think the explaining of skf needs to be in there cuz whe never used it writting her something.

Okay, this is what I wrote. I did it in a hurry, so any changes are welcome :)

Dear Sveta:

We are a group of fans from all over the world, some of whom have followed your career for years and some of us are new! We all became good friends on a tennis forum site, and enjoy our friendship, not only the tennis. One of us is Spanish, yet speaks fluent Russian, and I (Anna) took up Russian last year. It's a very difficult language, but English is harder, I think. Since I'm writing, it's English. Strangely, I don't believe any of us plays tennis, or not with any skill. It is enough to follow your career, and that of your friends on the tour.

We want to congratulate you on a terrific season and on the latest championship in China. It is obvious to all of us that your decision to go back to Russia was the correct one, and we have so enjoyed watching you play, win or lose.

I am sure I speak for all of us when I offer our condolences for the loss of your friend. Even though you were far away, I am sure he knew how much you cared for him. We are moved that you dedicated the tournament to your Slava, and we send our support in your grief.

We send best wishes for your upcoming tournaments, which we guess will be Doha, and all best wishes for a restful offseason.

Sincerely,
The SKF's (Svetlana Kuznetsova Fans)

:) I'm mainly just waiting for Stef to show up, before I put her name to something she hasn't seen. Then I'll put in on her blog in the morning (well, my morning), after letting everyone see it here again in final form.

But right now, I make an early New Year's resolution (well, I just had Rosh Hashanah, so maybe that counts ). That is, to stay out of stupid threads on GM, especially anything like "So and so must be gay because 1)She wears sneakers, 2)She has a deep voice, 3)She dresses like a man -*where did THAT come from??**-, or 4) she has muscles, and on and on. Whether Sveta is or isn't, it's threads like these that would drive anybody into privacy either way.

True equality will come when no one gives a damn about anyone's private life, and there will be no need to shout sexuality from the mountaintops. That includes the threads like "everyone must come out!" Um, many of us live in countries or states that are still very conservative or religious. Most of us have jobs we don't feel like losing in these times. Ditto for friends, parents, children. And as much as I would stand up for gay rights, my life and safety and that of my family has to come first. If that makes me a coward, well, okay.

I wanted to speak up and mention Rock Hudson and Montgomery Clift, both were beefy he-men as queer as the day is long, but decided it wouldn't do any good if someone's in their own little stereotypes. I myself NEVER ring anyone's radar . It might be laughable if trying to discern anything about a person out of appearance alone did not lead to the horrors in the 20th century. I think that's why it's hard for me to just pass it off as a fool and move on.

:fiery: I'm over it. I now return you to your regular thread.

Okay, this is a revision of my post. It's late, I'm tired, so if it's bad, tell me! Also, I wondered about putting Maz and Anushka in it, but they are SKF's too :

Dear Sveta:

We are a group of fans from all over the world, some of whom have followed your career for years and some of us are new! We all became good friends on a tennis forum site. I believe nearly every continent is represented by someone in our group: Veronika is from Spain, Maz is in England, Melanie is from the Netherlands, and Dorien is in Germany. We have a South African, an Uruguayan, several Russians, at least two Chinese, and I (Anna) am American. Stefanie and Anushka are Australian. We are all different ages and from different cultures, but all have a love of the tennis tour in common. Veronika and I are both studying Russian, about as different from both English and Spanish as possible. Strangely, I don't believe any of us actually plays tennis, or not with any skill. It is enough to follow your career, and that of your friends on the tour.

We want to congratulate you on a terrific season and on the latest championship in China. It is obvious to all of us that your decision to go back to Russia was the correct one, and we have so enjoyed watching you play, win or lose. Your sense of fun and your kindness to the other players is a pleasure to see.

Oh man, sorry, Dorien :tape:. And, how do so many great players come out of such a small country?

fnuf7 is from S.A., I think, if I read the flag correctly :tape:.

Stef's been around; the others are here and there. I'm just concerned about putting their name on something they haven't seen. I'm 99% sure Stef would OK this; she did the other version.

And pardon what is probably a very silly question, but is it correct to say someone is (for example) "Belgian", or is it better to say "She is from Belgium"? I wondered if "Australian" was all right to say. When I was young, we said, "Don Quixote was a Spaniard" (we had to read that in high school :tape:), but I haven't heard that word in years. "Spanish" is the name of a language, but I wasn't sure if it's acceptable to call a person "Spanish". Same with "Dutch"-I read somewhere that that's going out of use, too, and "from the Netherlands" is preferred.

It is also considered derogatory, for example, to call a person "Oriental" when you mean "of Asian descent". "Oriental" refers to an object or a style of decoration, not people. That's why I'm asking, if it's a similar thing.

As for me, call me "American"-but I don't know the etiquette in other places. In fact, many people here don't want to be "Irish-American" or "Italian-American", but just American.

I hope the question itself wasn't offensive . Offending any of you is the last thing I want to do. See what a simple letter to Sveta can bring up?

Dorien.

well I just offer you the ones I made I can post them again over here maybe the short one will be better but if the rest dont like it just dont. its just a offer.

Moving On
There’s never a right time
To say goodbye
It’s never fine
For someone to die
The shock hits you
You go numb
Not knowing what to do
Never expecting to lose someone
Who’s been there
For so long
You feel stripped and bare
Finding it hard to stay strong

The tears may come
If so, let them fall
But for some
None, nothing at all
That doesn’t mean
You’re not hurting inside
If anything
You’re just trying to hide
The pain you feel
Because if you do
It will all be real
It will all be true

Nobody wants
To lose someone dear
Their death haunts
You want them near
The memories
Videos and pictures
We need these
As reminders
To banish the fear
That you will forget
You need to keep them clear
Don’t want to be upset

But want to and need
To remember that laugh and smile
So you can be freed
From the constant denial
To accept that it’s real
They’re not coming home
Is upsetting to feel
They’ve left you alone
You’ve gone through
The rainbow of emotions
What’s left to do?
There’s no magic potion
To make grief go away
You’ll always feel something
It’s there to stay
Sometimes hiding

Like you can be happy
And just like that
You see
Where you’re at
How far you’ve gone
Without thinking of them
You’re angry all of a sudden
How could you let it happen?
You’re scared
That one day you won’t
Have cared
That you don’t
But it’s natural
Don’t worry yourself
You’re normal
If anything it’s a help

Life does go on
Just take each day as it comes
Let it happen
Slowly the pain numbs
You feel it ease
It’s not as hard anymore
Your heart sees
What it couldn’t before
That it’s ok to let go
Of that person
It has to be so
So that they may move on

Live in memory
Of who they were
Unlock the key
Discover the treasure
Their life was the gold
An amazing story
Waiting to be told
No more worry
As their memory lives on
No longer can we
See them as gone
But happy and free
Instead we celebrate
Who they were
Their life though late
Was the one true treasure

When the Sun Goes Down

There's a time in all our lifes
when tears just come easily
There's a time in all our lifes
when mourning seems to overwhelm us

Our tears are memories of others,
loved ones that we lost,
Our tears testify the sun
they brought into our lifes

But when this sun goes down
it's hard to accept the night
When the sun goes down
it's important to know

That the sun didn't vanish
...she's just not visible anymore...

In my senior year :). I love to read, so I got myself into the highest English class, which happened to read that book all term. I admit, I did not appreciate it too much at the time-too much symbolism ;), but much later, I reread it for myself.

Not now,but the next time I'm going to Russia it's going to be to Piter for a month course of russian language for foreigners.I still don't know when I'll be able to go,but I want to get informed.Last time I was there was in 1998,I didn't find it expensive at all, quite the contrary, but I'm sure things have changed a lot in 10 years.

I like this junior tennis player,Yana Buchina (she was runner-up in last USO ;) ).Asked if she's going to cheer for any player in Doha, she says that she'll cheer for Sveta. It's her favourite player and they train at the same club in Moscow, she says Sveta knows her and she considers Sveta a very nice girl. She sometimes go watch how Sveta trains and it's very helpful for her.

Piter is a bit cheapier I think, at least prices are the same as in my city. I can't judge accomodation prices cause I always stay at auntie's home but i belive u can find romms cheaper then 60 euros per night. My frinds last year stayed in hostel and it costed them 500 rubles per night (about 12 euros) . Food in cafes are cheaper than in Moscow. In Moscow my average bill was 25-30 euros for Caesar salad, apple juice and meat or fish course and I ate in very simple places, once we ate near Kremlim and prices there were HIGH!!! In Rostov I could go to the most expensive restaurant and took twice more dishes for the sum I spent in that cafe. So u see Piter is better than Moscow;)

ok,thanks,Tati! Well maybe when I'm there I'll look for the option of a residence for students ( общежитие ).I think it might be not that expensive as a hostel.

Hi Camilia,

yeah, that was me on facebook,I should have added a sentence or something in my request :o Well, see,I brought Tati back here :D

The off-topic thread is mostly used when Sveta is not playing in any competition as this week,we can talk about any other things to keep the forum active.Sorry that you are always busy but maybe that's a good thing.I don't like inactivity too much,it gets me nervous :help: Tell us a bit more about yourself if you have time and feel so.

I think the 2 players with who Sveta shares more fans in common are Dina and Amélie.

I hope while I was absent here a lot of new Sveta's fans joined our forum so I say "Hello" to all of them :)

 I'm sorry to hear that:hug: but welcome back !:D

Okay, done :). Here's what I just put on her blog (under the most recent entry):

Dear Sveta:

We are a group of fans from all over the world, some of whom have followed your career for years and some of us are new! We all became good friends on a tennis forum site. I believe nearly every continent is represented by someone in our group: Veronika is from Spain, Maz is in England, Melanie is from the Netherlands, and Dorien is Belgian.

Mel is a gifted poet, and wished to send you this:

When the Sun Goes Down

There's a time in all our lifes
when tears just come easily
There's a time in all our lifes
when mourning seems to overwhelm us

Our tears are memories of others,
loved ones that we lost,
Our tears testify the sun
they brought into our lifes

But when this sun goes down
it's hard to accept the night
When the sun goes down
it's important to know

That the sun didn't vanish
...she's just not visible anymore...
-from Melanie

Sincerely,
The SKF's (Svetlana Kuznetsova Family)

Veronika
Melanie
Dorien
Stefanie
Maz
Anushka
Anna
...and all the SKF's who join us.

I confess, I get a silly little thrill out of being able to read "Leave a comment" in Russian ;)

It was not only at SP. :p But as I said I was mainly annoyed, because I felt sorry for Estelle, she let you get into her head [mainly her fault, too] and Flipkens wouldn't have won without you and I probably just noticed it, because I couldn't stand Flipkens attitude in this match or her attitude at all. :p She is a player I really have come to dislike there along with Beygelzimer :p. Putintseva should calm down a bit and improve her forehand. It is pretty loopy I thought. And she needs to grow in order to serve more consistent and less DFs
Sorry didn't mean to attack or offend you. ;)

so Dorien, did you saw Eleni? And what other players did you see? Hope you had fun, which I think you did :D
Eleni should have won that second set, that I watched. She was closely superior, but at *5-3 in the TB, there was a bad decision against her, when a ball from Castano, that clearly landed out, was not called out. Eleni was pretty upset and she just missed a backhand really close on that *6-5 MP, which Castano probably wouldn't have reached. But her backhand is likely to break down these days.

Putintseva has a good game for her age. I find her funny  always pumping up herself.
Well Larcher de Brito hadn't screamed that much i found . But when she does it, it is loud. But it is really acted in my opinion. She isn't doing it everytime, just when it is going bad :p

Well it's sad Flipper is annoying you, she is really a great and sweet girl :) But it doesn't matter ;) You're right about that, Flipper really needs the crowed. I have cheer her already more to a win  And after the first set her coach (Who we know and she knows us) did a sign to us we have to cheer harder :haha:

She really needed you. :haha: She may be sweet, but her behaviour on court was meh. :p Putintseva is soo competitive and her built is a bit like Sveta's, very strong legs, especially for her age and she can play with quite some topspin, too, but otherwise they are so different. If she flattens her forehand out, it's rather good, if she doesn't, well as I said before, I thought, it's very loopy. Her attitude for a 14 year old is ok, but if she doesn't calm down, then I won't stand her and the majority here will hate her. :p

Oh I like Estelle for a while now. She clearly needs to improve her movement and lose some weight, because she is hardly able to defend well and reached almost none of Flipkens' stops. She got a pretty decent serve, first can be powerful, second is pretty solid, but tends to make DFs in tight situations. When she doesn't have to mve her groundstrokes are very powerful and she attacked Flipkens's second serve effectively on both sides.

I have been even more impressed with Laurendon. She has a compact all-around game. She got a solid serve, first and second. Her groundstrokes are pretty powerful and very deep. She had Zahlavova on the ropes and could have won Set 1, but I think she was too inexperienced. Her stops are pretty impressive and she volleys pretty well, too and mixed it up at times. She could make a run at the Top150, possibly even higher, but it will be tough considering her age.

Look what I found
Tejmuraz Gabashvili said that Sveta is his close friend since they played together in childhood, also Dinara is among his friends.

hehe I would be strange if Kuznetsov wasn't Sveta's fan

She wrote about situation in Chechnya, about people who disappers there and not just about Putin as it's described in western mass media. It's very sad that she was killed for her professional activity.

I didn't want to attack u, sorry if I did. I just don't like how western mass media covers her death and situation in Russia in general. Putin in western news seems like a murder and Devil. I don't like it, he is not an angel but to say that every murder of the person who doesn't support current policy is just silly and not right.(IMHO)
btw I didn't read Politkovskaya's book, but I read her articles to "Novaya Gazeta". they were about peoples rights in Chechen Republic.

Well,I can understand Tati being sensitive about this and unfortunately I have to agree with that. Here when they are talking about Russia in the news it's:to talk about any attack or accident ,to talk about russian mafia,to talk how bad Putin is and how democracy does not exist there.

They have never anything remotely positive to tell.If you only listen to what it is said,Russia is full of crime, violence,is one of the more insecure places and people there are all poor and dumb.It really irks me because I know this is not the truth.Sure this negative things exist there, but they exist in many other countries and in some of what they like to self-consider more democratics  So when they are trying to tell me that people in Russia can't think by themselves,I think it's the biggest hypocrisy because anti-russian propaganda here also is not letting people to think by themselves and only believe this brain-washing :help: and sure Russia might not be ideal but it's also not the hell they make it to be

It is the same here; maybe moreso because of the long history of ups and downs between our countries. Something breaks out and the media stirs up a lot of fear straight out of the 1950's and '60's . It's as if no one has moved on. Every place has strengths and problems; no one is perfect. As for me, next spring I'll be standing on Russian soil-somewhere -and see its beauty for myself :). And I've got it made if the rest of the country is as warm and friendly as the Russians here :).

I do watch travel programs in my country and they are regular about russia and they show the reall stuff. they do intervieuws with people on the street show the typical russian stuff like the hermitage wodka even a sex shop who claim to have raspoetin's(dont know if I wrote it right)penis. and there should be more programs like this and there is where I got my info about russia and that had me fall in love with the country.
