View Full Version : As of July 7th, Justine is still the real #1 !

 ..... with 3970.00 points, based on only 11 tournaments! :worship: Versus Ana having 3828.00 points based on 17 tourns.

5695.00 - 1000 (RG) - 275 (Eastbourne) - 450 (Wimbledon) = 3970.00 points.

Only after the Canadian Open (last year mid August) she will lose another 430.00 points.

Even if Ana wins Montreal (end of July) after having lost in 1st round last year (and if she indeed won't play LA), she still will not overtake Justine's pole position!

:worship: :bounce:

Even from your point of view, that has nothing to do with it. :o If she wouldn't have asked to be removed from the rankings, which could have happened with the same ease, her points would have been visible.

So I guess you were already aware of the fact? How can it be boring if it is the first time in history this has happened?

This is just a little teaser. I don't mind being told that Hénin would still be #1 without two slams and a Tier II tournament.

No need to be angry.

Martina was not #1 when she retired. Justine's case is the first ever in the history of tennis. That is why it is such a groundbreaking event that months after she said farewell to the sport, after losing points from two Grand Slams, she is still #1!! I mean, WOW! As a tennis fan I am always astounded by achievements that have never been done before. This is the most amazing statistic event of the decade!!!

I AGREE! It is really amazing that she would still be #1. Had she played any of those tournaments, she would be even further ahead. I was hoping she might play the Olympics for Belgium, now I am hoping she will get a WC for the USO. Stranger thigs have happened-LOL!!

She was probably asked to have her name removed so as to not further embarrass the WTA. Also, it was a way for Maria to be #1 for a week-lol! For those who so resent this thread, CHILL OUT! Noone forced you to read it.

What living in the past?

This thread is not about 'living in the past', but about that Justine Hénin, without participating in the last two slams and a Tier II tournament would, as of today, still have more ranking points than any other player. Just that. Nothing more, and nothing less.

I hope you undertood now.

Though I am completely neutral in this matter, yet I can't help noticing how does this innocuous trifle teaser act as a potent irritant to some people in this forum.

For me this is a sign, that there is a real and thorny issue behind the story of this and similar threads.

:o Nah I don't really care about Ana's ranking but reality is Justine isn't on top of the rankings.. she's retired she asked for her points to be removed for a reason. So when #1 has more points than her will you make another thread Justine is still the real #2 and so on...

MrSerenaWilliams
Jul 8th, 2008, 03:59 PM
She won a major, the YEC, like 3 Tier II, 2 Tier Is  I don't see how that wouldn't qualify someone for #1 anyway.

But honestly, it's not her fault that the players that inherited her ranking are having some trouble right now
