This year Roger didn't have one match off centre court, and Venus was flung out onto the cold, cruel and harsh court 2 :sobbing:.

So next year, do you think both players will/should be treated equally, that is get only the 2 main courts (either Federer moved onto court 1 for once or Venus on centre only)? Do you think these is still a justification for Federer getting centre only (if he is still world number one, and number one seed)?

Any thoughts?

I'd just like to add that the moderating is disappointing. :bigcry: Even threads about equal prize money get closed down. This is like some police state, even Zimbabwe seems more liberal. I've lost count of the number of threads of mine, that stimulate some reasonable discussion have been deleted. What do they want us talking about.. dresses? cameltoe? FHM covers? :awww:

its just not going to happen. theres still going to be 2 mens matches on the showcourts and 1 womens. maybe they can add another womens match on CC because of the roof

but after a match like todays, theres no way tht federer will ever be put on court 2

One is the 7th seed and the other has been the number 1 for how long now?

That obviously has to do with court placements.

What do you expect when these threads turn into a bash-fest... and we've had about 100 of these before?

They want us talking about... Maria Sharapova!!!!!

The overreaction to Venus being put on court 2 still amazes me. People make it out like she was banished to Siberia or something.

Anyway, on topic, Venus is not to women's tennis what Roger is to the men's game. When she has twelve slams and been at no.1 for as long I'm sure she'll get top billing as well.

Perhaps, but even had Henin on court 2 last year, her matches against Vesnina and Chakvetadze at least were on outside courts and she'd been number one almost consistently I think.

The new Court 2 is a stadium though so it won't be as cruel and cold ;)

They do, damn Larry scott must be paying them. Anything reasonable discussion that isn't favouring Maria ... LOCKDOWN!

BTW, I was gonna post about how gentlemanly you were, defending my honour and all

Venus is one of the best women's players now, even if she only wins Wimbledon these days... I don't get why it's Venus vs. Roger though. It's not like they banished Venus to make room for Roger.

Yeah, so? She doesn't deserve to be on center court all the time.

And with Venus being seeded 7th and playing crap almost everywhere else through out the year, I can't see why she should always get an automatic ticket to cc either. She's NOT the She was relegated on a very busy day that at the end saw more interesting women's matches that were rightly out on cc and court 1. Really people need to get over it.

Serena vs. Radwanska? :tape:

Yeah, cause Serena vs Radwanska was played at the same day Venus was put on court 2.

I'm talking about Kuz vs Radwanska (on cc) and Vaidisova vs Chak (court 1).

The better question is will she be seeded #1-4.?? LMAO at Wimby.

Venus should play Center or Court 1 and nothing less, the same goes for Fed. They both perform well on grass and have the grass slams to prove it. What they won or lost on another court has no bearing.

You're right the moderation is getting a bit silly. There was a closed thread about this earlier and it was a silly thread that should not of been closed in my opinion.

This isn't exclusively about Venus being out on court 2, it is also about Federer ALWAYS being on centre. There was a whole discussion on this by commentary that Federer too should be moved around a bit, least of all so that those who can't get access to the main show courts get to see him in action too.

I bet Sveta vs. Radwanska was a classic with Sveta making a 1397356785687 UEs.

Show court? No according the very best in British commentary. Show courts is 1 and Centre, that's why they started at 1 as opposed to the others. Cruel and COLD!

Yes but they didn't banish Venus in the first place. Court no.2 is a show court not some minor outside court in a corner somewhere.

I agree that it shouldn't be Venus vs Roger but that's how the thread starter titled it. I'm just saying that if Venus were being touted as possibly the best player of all time, she's more likely to be on Center Court all the time as well.

I think they should be treated equally at this tournament!

It's like if Rafa was ranked #7 and still whipping out the RGs he wouldn't be shoved to the other courts.

Venus and her family were whining that they were put on court 2, more so than Federer was receiving some special treatment.

The bottom point Federer deserves the treatment he got because 1) he's been the dominant player in the world for so many years now 2) he had already won this thing for 5 consecutive years 3) He's the number 1 seed 4) he's frequently called one of the greatest of all time and potentially the greatest 5) when he's beating the crap out of somebody it's usually because of his amazing shotmaking and skills, more so than the weakness of the opponent and would still be enjoyable to watch.

Venus has become a Wimbledon legend and she definitely deserves excellent treatment (which she got anyways. all of her early early matches were on the show court except of rd 16), but she still doesn't match up to what I described above. When she's beating the crap out of someone in the early rounds, it's usually because she's playing a fat chick who can't run, someone with no serve..etc. (and that goes along for most top women).

I'm just saying that if Venus were being touted as possibly the best player of all time, she's more likely to be on Center Court all the time as well.

:yeah:
