As I'm sure many of you know, X is the Roman Numeral for 10. And Venus Williams and Serena Williams have now been reaching Grand Slam finals for X amount of years. :yeah:

It's a remarkable achievement, and I'm surprised it's not getting more attention. Venus has now been a factor in the Grand Slams for the past TEN YEARS. She reached the U.S. Open final in 1997, and she's a five-time Wimbledon champion in 2008. She also reached the final in 2009 (the XI factor?)

Serena too, as she won the U.S. Open in 1999, and has now reached the Australian Open final in 2010.

The list of other modern players who have achieved that is rather short, and contains some of the true legends of women's tennis. Here they are:

Serena Williams - U.S. Open 1999 - Australian Open 2010

Venus Williams - US 1997 - Wimbledon 2009

Mary Pierce - Roland Garros 1994 - US 2005

Steffi Graf - RG 1987 - Wimbledon 1999

Martina Navratilova - Australian Open 1975 - Wimbledon 1994

Chris Evert - RG 1973 - AO 1988

Billie Jean King - Wimbledon 1963 - Wimbledon 1975

Margaret Court - AO 1960 - US 1973

Venus and Serena always had the numbers to prove their greatness. Now they have time on their side, too. :D

Serena is also 10. 1999-2008.

Venus is actually 12. I expect Venus to extend this and very much so. :)
