And people think Sharapova screams loudly! Venus shattered any effort I've hear from Maria. I was surprised to hear Serena so quiet though.

I haven't ever seen a Venus vs Maria match but I imagine earplugs are mandatory.

However I thought it was a highly entertaining final, despite the fact I'm, not a fan of either sister. However if one of them had to win I wanted Venus to win and was pleased that she did.

Screaming means they are into the match and into the point. When they don't scream, you know something is up. It shows how intense the match was for them that they were heard all the way in China.

I agree with this... the screaming aspect seems to pump them up get more adrenaline(known fact)... Im more concerned when they arent...

Only people who complain about the screamin IMO are prudy people who arent getting enough good sex in their life. which i guess thats why its always a hot topic at Wimbledon....

Venus' scream is, for some reason, beautiful to listen to for me. Well, okay not beautiful, it's just awesome to hear Venus let out that roar, and smack the ball with all her might. Just like Sharapova's.

Oh let me check is Davenport in the top 10 hold on......NOPE Old school. Here is an education for you read any books about Karate of Kung Fu Arts that have been around alot longer than Davenport. In fact thousands of years. They mastered the generation of power from a small frame. Hope I did not get to deep for you. FYI

They don't have to scream.

Did Zheng Jie scream? Did she fist pump? Wasn't she intense in her second set against Serana? Wasn't she putting everything she had and more?

A few bad apples gave an example, and now a lot of players, especially the younger ones (vide Azarenka), are aping them.

Occasional, or low intensity, sounds exuded by a player are world apart from high-pitch high-intensity noises produced at every contact with the ball.

Ummm Lindsay is coming off an Injury and a Pregnancy. Williams weren't in the top 10 when they had their knee surgeries either.

Get over it. Zheng is not in the top 10 she had a good showing she will have to do it alot more to be in the group we are talking about. Maybe if she did she would have beat Serena.

Dementieva in the semis made a sound you only hope you hear from your partner during orgasms.

Ultimately though, Venus and Serena are quite used to the noises the other makes. No competitive advantage, and that's what's important.

Still, compared to the men's final...

Well, there is no comparison.

There is still so much finesse in men's tennis and, deplorably, so little of it remains in ladies' tennis (with a few honorable exceptions). And what a technique! The best, like Federer and Nadal, can sustain very high level for more than 4 1/2 hours. None of the ladies compares, even remotely...

So many poeple have selective hearing and vision. Nadel groans with every contact of the ball. If one compares the women's final vs the men's and consider the sets played, The quality of these two finals was quite similar. Winners to UFEs were about the same. Perceptions still differ in spite of facts.
I am NOT saying they could play the men competetively but both finals were relatively error free and competetive.

I didn't say I liked Nadal's groans! Don't impute me things I didn't say! I actually, prefer Federer in this respect. He is a superb sportsman. Nadal, apart from groaning, was also behaving admirably throughout their match despite so many tense moments.

Many times throughout their match I was thinking how much ladies could learn, in basically every department, from the best men playing tennis.

With the second part of your response I don't agree at all.

Sharapova tends to scream at every points. she tried too hard to impress us with that  but the sisters are different. they won't start screaming until the match goes to a couple of games. that's when they are into the match and put their efforts to fight. i love that.

WOW you just continue to show how dumb you are.... The most dangerous fighters in Kung fu are the quiet ones.... not the loud ones... and from someone who took karate and did not "READ" about it in a book. I can tell you that screaming in kung fu is used as a tactic to strike fear in an opponent....:tape:

Davenport had a baby less than a year ago.... had she not been injured during Wimbledon/ she'd have been knocking on the top tens door this summer...
Clearly you are the product of what happens when mothers leave their uneducated children alone at a keyboard..."FYI":help:

Haha KARATE KID part IV You don't know sh.. Kia has nothing to do with fear. Tell me where you are so you may repeat the "mother" part to my face. "My style is the art of fighting without fighting" If you are a true martial artist you know what I am saying. If not shut your pie hole. Before it gets you into trouble.
