I don't know what to begin from. So much happened! I am really happy with this win. It was tough but I played a good match. I didn't also used a lot of chances and I must tell that Laura really didn't play that bad. I have never played such a tie-break in my life. The first mini-break was at 8-8! Luckily, I managed to win a first set and I don't hide that I had a luck at tie-break. I got to "free" points because of double faults of my opponent.
The second set was not mine and in the first game of 3rd set I had three break points! At 5-2 I had two match balls and I was incredibly stressed. Luckily I managed to win while I was serving at 5-3. Just after the match I couldn't believe it. But it just happened.
Tomorrow I play also with left-handed player - Channel Simmonds from RSA. I am optimistic and I will try to do my best.
Keeps your fingers crossed!

Zania won first round :)Next opponent top seed Timea Babos
Too bad she lost in doubles, many points out now.

Found an article about her match against Robson, I think it's worth posting:

-----

The 15-year-old lost to Sandra Zaniewska of Poland 7-6, 1-6, 6-3 after one hour and 54 minutes of highly competitive tennis at Roland Garros.

At two years her senior, Zaniewska had much greater strength from the back of the court than Robson but the Briton fought valiantly only to come up short in a tense final set.

Murray, who faced Fernando Gonzalez on Court Philippe Chatrier this afternoon, has honed his game on the slower surface after spending time at a clay-court training camp in Barcelona as a teenager and that is a route Robson intends to follow.

The top seed said: I hate losing so it's never easier or worse than anywhere else. Andy struggled on clay when he was younger and now he is in the quarters. So I am going to try and do the same as him and keep improving.

She [Zaniewska] hit a lot of drop shots and that's how she won a lot of points. That was her tactic the whole match and it worked.

I ran a lot and now I am pretty tired. I tried my best and at times I could have served better and done a couple of things better but at the end of the day I tried my best so there wasn't much more I could do.

Once you get the ball it's hard to know where to hit it because if you hit it short, she is going to read it so you have to think about where you are going to hit it as you are running and hitting the ball.

By the final set I was extremely tired of running.

Robson battled back from a break down in the opening set to force a tie-break. Zaniewska had the first set point on serve at 8-7 but Robson produced a superb return and forehand winner to draw level.

She then earned a mini-break to force a set point of her own only to serve a double fault.

Zaniewska eventually took the breaker 12-10 but Robson raced through the second set in just 27 minutes to level the match.

But Zaniewska's superior stamina eventually won through and Robson, who will now focus on taking two English GCSE's, admitted: She is definitely more physically developed but I don't think age matters unless they are a whole lot more experienced. She was a lot stronger.

Robson must now wait until next Monday to find out if she has done enough to earn a main draw wildcard into the Wimbledon women's singles from the All England Club.

Top300 at the end of the season isn't that unrealistic for her. Already with her result from Cairns where she is in SF at least she is around top330. Sandra wants to approach the top 200 in the next months; hopefully she will make it :yeah:

Duan will take on fifth seed Sandra Zaniewska of Poland who upset South African teen Chanel Simmonds, the top seed in straight sets 7-6(4) 6-2. Zaniewska had made just one previous final at US$25,000 level, Cairns last year but says she’s just pleased to be there challenging for the title.

“Obviously I’m happy. It’s great to be in another final. I’m really, really happy to have made it through. I don’t mind if it’s indoors or outdoors in the final. I’ll just keep the ball in play and hang in there. I want to move from around the 300 ranking to around 200 in the next six months which means I can make qualifying for the Grand Slams,” said Zaniewska (below) who believes Polish tennis is on the rise and she wants to be part of its high profile. “There are top ranked players who are leading the way and for me as I change from juniors to seniors I can see there’s potential to make a good career if I keep on improving.”

I would have never thought she would get anywhere close top200 when I watched her 2 years ago. She's pretty much a shoe in now.
Got to the final in Bundaberg beating Namigata 2 & 1 and will face another Japanese Aoyama in the final.

Im afraid its another Linette-case though.

Linette seems she changed her coach and something changed in her life (well Kasia Piter's brother is travelling with her for the tournaments now :tape:). About Linette it's most about the confidence. Zania is training in Turkey in the same academy as Gajdosova. She's totally a different case.

Caipirinha Guy
Jun 9th, 2012, 01:07 PM
Sandra until she found Tina didn't have any coach who could actually travel with her (she trains in Turkish Academy in Istanbul as well - the same as Jarka Gajdosova). In Poland she has also one coach but he works with other players as well so he can't travel with her. That said, I think she will cooperate with Tina for a longer time as she needs someone who will introduce WTA world to her and Tina is the best person to do that as she was herself top30 player.

Impressive from her :) I hope she won't have to play US Qualies and that she will somehow keep up her form :yeah:

Spotkanie trwało dwie godziny i osiem minut.

- Peng to druga tenisistka z pierwszej setki, z jaką miałam okazję grać. Dwa tygodnie temu w Birmingham przegrała ostatni mecz w eliminacjach z Jie Zheng.

Dear Fans, please forgive me my long absence in tennis and Facebook.. This week I have played my first tournament, since I lost in US Open qualies. In the second game of my match in NY, I sprained my sacroiliac (SI) joint. Because of that, I was forced to get some rest and after two weeks I started rehab. Tournament in Clermont-Ferrand (ITF 25,000$) was meant to be a test for my joint, I still wasn't able to serve fully, but it went quite well overall. For the rest of this week, I'm doing rehab and from Monday on I'm back on court and I will continue my practices, my next tournament will be 08.10 ITF 50,000$ in Joue les Tours, France.

Her rank is 350 right now. Good news, it cannot fall any lower this year. She's defending nothing...
Next week she'll play 25.000 Koksijde.
Expect her to play all the clay tournaments until the end of October. She needs match practise afterall. Clay is her best surface and it doesn't cause so much injuries like hardcourts.

Actually I'm not sure she's really trying to win them, I guess she plays these little tournaments mainly to get some practice before coming back to higher levels. There's an event in Sharm El Sheikh each week all year long, so it's quite convenient

Witajcie w Nowym Roku! Mam nadzieje ze rozpoczal sie on dla Was pomyslnie. Wstrzymac, poniewaz nie jestem gotowa by ja zakonczyc. Pozdrawiam

Hello in New Year! I hope it has started well for you. In this post I would like to update you on my health condition and probably the hardest decision I have ever made in my life. Beginning of this week I had a MRI scan for my lower back, the part of the back that is bothering me for quite some time now. Unfortunately, the results weren't promising. It turns out I have a complete herniation and spondylosis, along with some other 'minor' injuries. Because of that, I am forced to put my career on hold for now. I am putting it on hold, because I am not ready to quit just yet. In the next days/weeks/months I will be observing how my body reacts on physical activity, currently I am not able to practice without pain. I hope my future posts to You will be more optimistic and that I will get a chance to fight for my dreams once again. Best regards, Sandra.

Good news on facebook:

Mam nowe wiadomosci.. dobre! Zaciagnelam opinii jeszcze jednego lekarza, z holenderskiej federacji tenisowej. Bedziemy ewaluowac moj postep co kilka dni i zobaczymy gdzie nas on zaprowadzi.

Good news again :)

Wczoraj mialam ostatnia (miejmy nadzieje) wizyte u mojego lekarza i wszystko idzie w dobrym kierunku. Jezeli sie dostane, to bede grac eliminacje 50ki we Francji w ten weekend (obecnie jestem 8 oczekujaca).

Good evening! I'd like to share some good news with you tonight. Yesterday I saw my doctor for the (hopefully) last time and everything seems to be going well. Last two weeks have been physically tough for me, as I have been working on my fitness level a lot and I was gradually increasing the amount of time spent on court. As of today, it is not perfect yet but I can't wait to get some tournament rhythm again. If I get it, I will play qualifying of the ITF 50k in France this weekend (for now, I am 8 alternate). After that, I will play two 10k's in Egypt, 31 March-14 April, to see how my back reacts on playing couple of matches in a row. I would like to thank everyone that has been with me during those tough months and all of those that still believe in me, my parents, Agisko, Intime Tennisschool and You!
