Not a great draw for Lucie. She faces Loit in the first round. She's played her once before in Miami last year where she won 60 75. It will be tough. If she gets by Loit, she would face seeded Peer. Peer has been struggling a bit so it isn't the worse seeded player she could have drawn. But Peer leads 2-1 in their H2H, with Lucie losing both previous matches in 2007 (her lone win came in 2004 in the quallies). Then, if she can get to the third round (which would be great) she'd face most likely Safina, who she leds 2-1 against. But Safina won their last meeting and Safina has been on a hot streak.

It's a very tricky quarter of the draw. Sharapova, Davenport, Dementieva, Petrova, and Azarenka are all in it. And if she made it to the semis (no offense, but fat chance!) there's Venus and Jankovic that are huge threats.

2007 Result:
3rd Round
Jankovic d. Safarova 57 76(4) 62

Not a bad draw IMO, she could reach the 3rd round. Wouldn't expect her to go any further as she is on track to face Safina in the 3rd round which will be a very tough match given Safin's form. However Lucie is always capable of an upset and on any given day she can beat just about anyone. Given the fact that she is unseeded it's not a bad draw and about the best we could have hoped for.

Yeah, it's hard to think what a great draw would be for Lucie right now. If she got one, it could be wasted.

This one certainly could be much worse, though Safina is looking like she can trample Peer, Lucie, and anyone else nearby.

She could of faced a Venus or Serena or a Sharapova in the first round since she is unseeded, so I guess facing Loit in the first round is a good draw. :-/

Lucie has 67% first serves in. She was down a break 1-4 and faced break points to go down 1-5. But she's fought back and now she's on serve 3-4.

I'm not expecting her to win this with these injuries though. I am just praying she won't pull out.

Lucie lost 63 76(4). 5 aces, 9 double faults, 30 winners, 64% first serve percentage.

Not much to say except at least the injuries will get a rest.

I was about to say I can't believe she lost to Loit at Wimbledon, but then I remembered who I was actually talking about here. :tape:

You all need to give her a little credit. I mean, this was her first grass match of the year. She had TWO injuries. So it's not like she was ready and just crumbled. Have some faith, even if her year has been disastorous. Look at the fellow Czech Nicole Vaidisova. She has been having a ton of trouble this year, and she was also talked about having so much potential. And despite at one point having a 6 match losing streak, she's in the third round of Wimbledon. So you never know.

That she's been awful since Wimbledon last year is what it means.

Lucie and Petra lost to Camerin and Dulko 63 62. :( :(

Don't worry. Lucie will sweep the singles, doubles, and mixed doubles at the US Open. :p

You never know!

You are denying she's been awful? :spit: If anyone is still posting in here and hoping she wins by this point, I don't think any of us can question their loyalty. :)

That's for sure. Yet here we are -- might as well be nice to each other. :wavey: And about Lucie.

I'll admit it: today I was on the verge of photoshopping Vaidisova and Lucie's faces onto a photo from the original version of Stepford Wives. :tape: But Vaidisova is turning things around. Lord knows when Lucie will.

Alex, I wish Gulbis and Rafa both could win. Cutest guys on tour by far.
