Nadia made the 4th round of the AO, 3rd round FO. It's time for a good result at a major.

Nadia plays the third match of the day, against makarova who beat Vera....the matches will start at 11.30

goldenlox
Jun 18th, 2008, 10:54 PM
The draw is wide open for Nadia.
If this was 2006, I'd be very confident of a title.
But in 2008, just go one match at a time.
Win this QF.

goldenlox

Nadia down a break *24. Not a well played start

goldenlox

Nadia played well and she enjoyed stay on the court, smiling sometimes.
good win...she can win this tournament. GL against stosur

goldenlox
Jun 19th, 2008, 03:12 PM
Stosur will be more aggressive than Katya. Nadia will have to hit some passing shots. And Nadia has to come in on short balls and force her to pass also.

Excellent tennis from Nadia

:bounce: It's time for her first Grass Court Title now!

goldenlox
Jun 20th, 2008, 02:06 PM
I think she's playing really well now.
Bartoli or Aga will tell more.
This is a big final, usually big names win this title.
Then on to Wimbledon in good form.
Nadia is returning serves low, and so tough to volley those. She will be tough tomorrow.

TennisPlayingFox

great nadia!! now take home this title!!
however very positive week for nadia and for her wimbledon

goldenlox
Jun 20th, 2008, 05:28 PM
Nadia plays Aga, who beat Bartoli by hitting in the corners and making her run.
I think Nadia will win with the tennis she played today.
But it's a different opponent. Aga will make fewer errors, but put less pressure on Nadia. She'll hope Nadia makes the errors.

Ferosh

Good luck in tomorrow's final, Nadia! It's awesome seeing her smile SO much.

goldenlox
Jun 20th, 2008, 07:25 PM
I thought this return to form would bring back some of her fans.
I saw Nadia's last 2 matches and she's really playing well. She schooled Stosur, and the score could have been worse.
Her return of serve is impressing me the most. Aga has a weak serve. I think Nadia has a chance to get several breaks tomorrow.

I always believed that all she needed was one good tournament. Whatever happens tomorrow, I hope that Nadia can continue to build on her momentum. I may have been gone from the forum for a couple of months,... but I've still been following & recording all of Nadia's matches. ;)

I really have the impression that the old Nadia is coming back. It doesn't matter if she wins this final or not (of course, I hope so and see many chances), but she's back in a final!!!

I hope her serve will work as good as yesterday and then she could really win her first title on grass and improve her ranking again... :bounce:

goldenlox
Jun 21st, 2008, 10:57 AM
I think it's important for Nadia to win this final because Aga is not a great grass court player. She has a weak serve and is a defensive player.
If she's back in form, she has to win this

goldenlox
Jun 21st, 2008, 11:36 AM
Nadia has been broken twice early *25

goldenlox
Jun 21st, 2008, 11:47 AM
Nadia gets the break back then gets broken at *45 40-15, 46. Nadia got 2 breaks and was broken 3 times. That last one was a choke

goldenlox
Jun 21st, 2008, 11:55 AM
I don't think Nadia is any better mentally than she was. Just blew a bp in game one, 46 *01
So from 45 she loses 2 games, up 40-15 and up 30-40 bp

goldenlox

goldenlox
Jun 21st, 2008, 01:17 PM
bp after Aga's first df, Nadia hits a weak approach, deuce 21*
Bad drop shot by Nadia. She had this game won, *22
That could cost her. She had that break on her racket

goldenlox
Jun 21st, 2008, 01:22 PM
Nadia needs to play one good game on Aga's serve
32*

goldenlox
Jun 21st, 2008, 01:25 PM
Normally I wouldn't want this kind of long final right before a major.
But with Nadia's tough draw next week, this final is important.
Nadia keeps missing backhands down the line
*33

goldenlox
Jun 21st, 2008, 01:34 PM
Nadia leads 43*. She needs one more break

goldenlox
Jun 21st, 2008, 01:40 PM

Aga has to play on Monday, which seems unfair.
Nadia gets another day. I'm sure she's tired after last week

goldenlox

Aga won easily. I think the Eastbourne final was a good match, and if Nadia continues that level of play she will win a few rounds here.

goldenlox

For a QF at Wimbledon, this is a good draw.
Nadia knows her game, and Lena has never had good results here.
From what I saw of Lena v Dulko, Nadia has to be the favorite.

Still, a decent run to the QF after an Eastbourne final.
But she still can't take those last few steps

Elena Dementieva - Nadia Petrova 6:1 6:7(6) 6:3

Nadia should had cancelled mixed yesterday ... seemed to me in most of the points that she wasn't really at the right time on the right position to stroke.

Amazing come back in second set!

goldenlox
Jul 1st, 2008, 04:36 PM
Nadia should have attacked the net much more.
In the 3rd set, she was pushing, doing nothing to put pressure on Lena, who had to be frazzled after blowing a 61 51 lead.

Ferosh
Jul 1st, 2008, 08:02 PM
