Amanda has been drawn to play seeded Rezai :o Ruutel drew Domachowksa - imagine the brilliant opportunity Naomi would have had if she qualified

Wimbledon 2006  Bet Marta loved that match against our Sarah ;)

Katie never seems to be able to win these matches easy, but good to see her get her first win on grass over a player who almost beat Venus at Wimbledon last year. Expected win from Mel. Great work from Naomi, didn't see her winning that given how indifferent she has been this year. Points defended for her :yeah:
Amanda :tears: The only problem there could be is that we, the LTA and the media* put too much pressure on her to deliver after almost being a very respectable player in Rezai
Bally

*That is if the media actually realise that women do play tennis :o

Maybe we should all send e-mails to the BBC about why the guys are getting loads of coverage and talk whilst the girls aren't - I just did  Amazing how we have 5 top 200 girls (1 top 100) yet on the men's we have Murray inside the top 20 and then nothing until Boggo, who is going to slip from his current position outside the top 250 :o

Well said, it is unbelievable how our girls are ignored by the media. Surely there will be cameras sometime this week???

Naomi :o
Katie :smash: Should have got a break in the first, congrats on coming through the second, good fightback in the third but shame you couldn't just hold on.

Wouldn't it be awful if she reached 101 next week? Career high in juniors of 101, career high in singles of 101 as well!

Correction: From TBE, highest Katie can now go is 102 ;)

From LTA website

On Thursday, Mel South became the first British player since Jo Durie in 1992 to reach the quarter-final at the DFS Classic in Edgbaston. En route, the world No 154 recorded three excellent victories against Anna Fitzpatrick 6-4 6-4, Sybille Bammer 6-3 7-5 and Aiko Nakamura 2-6 6-4 6-4. However, the 22 year-old eventually lost in the last eight on Friday against Yanina Wickmayer 4-6 3-6.

Terrific week Melanie, well done and good luck in Eastbourne:bigclap:

mel played a good match overall,, i thought at *4/3 30 all,, she got abit excited with a very short ball,, and lost her concentration,, she could have won the match,, but still ,, good match overall :D

Totally agree. also shows that Melanie can compete happily at this level and with good draws at Eastbourne and Wimbledon she could soon be in the top 100.
