OK, in the first round Iva will face Dechy. This could be a though match and because Iva always loses when she I expect he to win, I won't make any predictions. The winner of that match will face either Myskina or Fernandez and then Martina Hingis in the third round. I think Iva has a good chance to go far, but she has to take it one step at a time.

Based on their H2H, this will be tough:
Iva MAJOLI (CRO) v Nathalie DECHY (FRA)
1996 Paris Clay (I) QF Iva MAJOLI 4-6 6-4 6-1
1999 Paris Carpet (I) 16 Nathalie DECHY 2-6 6-2 2-6
Tied 1 : 1
I so much want Iva to win her first 2 matches and then play Martina and beat her!!!!! That would be the best result of the year for me! Please win a few rounds here IVA!!!!!
Her result in Finland was quite a shocker and disappointment I'm sure for her. Hopefully she will come back with a vengence here. Perhaps that early round loss gave Iva a little more time to find her hard court game....

wow, she's only played Dechy twice? I thought they had played more than that...anyway, thats a very tough match. Can go either way really. And Myskina has a commanding record over Iva too, so things dont look good from that perspective :(
But as Ive said before, when we expect her to do well, she doesnt....and when we dont, she wins a lot ;) hehe. Hopefully she can have a great birthday week here :D
GOOD LUCK IVA!!!!

Iva lost 6-3 6-1
She started off by breaking Dechy's serve and held on until 3-3
She went down 2-0 in the second, held serve, and then had 0-30, but didn't get to break point. She saved five match points in the last game.
This is very dissapointing. Let's hope she can get her game together for next week.

I saw the match and it was a very disappointing attitude from Iva. Dechy hasn't the toughest serve but Iva just whacked them all out. In a self-destruct mood which reminded me of Lucic's last couple of seasons. Mirjana has been improving again and Iva looked to be getting back as well. She still needs to work hard.

I'm going to chalk this one up to a birthday hangover although Iva does seem to be in a tailspin lately. I really hope she regains her focus in New York because I really need a pick-me-up. Such wonderful memories last year of me and Sandrine in the players lounge watching that wonderful center court battle with Martina. :D
*Memories, like the corners of my mind, misty water-colored....*

I remember those wonderful reports you gave us about that moment *sigh* Cant believe its been a year
David...I know, very disappointing attitude :( :( :( I dont understand it. I saw it against Husarova at the Aus Open and against Elena D at Wimby. As a fan its quite distressing to see, as Im sure you know. Hopefully she sorts herself out quicksmart.
