Aga's schedule: /last year result/
Birmingham (tier III) /r32/ (seed no.5 i guess)
Eastbourne (tier II) /r16/
Wimbledon (GS) /r32/

last year was poor. really poor, taken it's isia's favourite surface. she has a huuuge chance to improve her ranking points here :D

shitty decision to play both birmingham & eastbourne for me. really nothing to win in this tier III with many matches to play which may only cause her shoulder feel sore again :o

I agree with you.. It is too much, and she has no week off at all, onlt this week.
But I'm surpised it's her fave surface! She has nice net game, but she doesn't have a serve to get some free points, or play some serve&volley..

and what's even more important i expect aga to go like SF, QF, QF there which means 12 (4+3+5) matches in 21 days, which is A LOT indeed. let alone if she goes even deeper :tape:

Aga wont be playing Birmingham... she will be resting for Wimbledon and will be playing only Eastbourne...I like this decision... she will rest... treat Eastbourne like a training (you never know if might be like Istanbul again;)) and do her best in Wimbledon...

I am glad to hear that. As you recall I put my trust in Agnieszka's father. He has been often bashed by some of Agnieszka's supporters yet it is him who is responsible for developing Agnieszka's natural talent.

He sometimes may commit mistakes -- who does not? -- but I have no doubt that his top priority has always been his daughter, two daughters, actually, not a short term financial gain.

Good decision taking the week off before Eastbourne. Very important Aga is 100% for the Grass season. It is very short but it is Aga's best surface and she needs to make the most of it.

With the exception of Venus playing her "A" game I think Aga is in with a chance against any other player on the tour on grass. Yes, I have pretty high expections for Aga this year. :)

I hope she will recover as well; it sounded that her arm was in some serious pain. I also believe that Agnieszka has to prove that she can consistently beat the top 10. She certainly has the capability. Also I have noticed that Agnieszka falls into strange patterns this year. There was period of three setters, lately there is a period of weak beginnings and strong finishes. It may be a side effect of her development and that not all the pieces of her newly developed capabilities fell solidly into place, if so I hope it will happen soon.

just read that Aga is going to have her arm in temporary plaster for a week:eek: ... hope its anything serious and she can be fit and ready for Wimbledon...but it doesn't look too good for me...

She is coming back to court for training on Monday, so maybe its not so bad...

I can even see Razzano beating Davenport anyway  What will be more worrying is if bartoli withdraws, am i right in thinking zvonareva will move doen to bartoli place in the draw

I don't think Agnieszka should be affraid of Lindsay or anyone else for that matter. As someone mentioned the time is comming when she should be able to beat anyone. However it doesn't mean that the match will not be hard and it is just too bad that this will be her first match on the grass and right away against potentially very strong opponent. I would feel more comfortable is she did not have bye and played someone else for a grass "warm-up" in the first round.

1. I see no reason why Aga should afraid of Davenport, actually there is no player Aga should afraid of :)
2. If Aga wins this match, there's an open road to the final
3. If Aga loses to Davenport (well, that's only sport, such things happen :p), she will be fresh for Wimbledon, and it won't be lost chance for practise on grass, every grass is different, Aga will find her play in Wimbledon early rounds

Although it is a great draw for Agnieszka I am not sure if I want the pattern to repeat. Her arm is not quite healed, if she goes to the final that means a few matches, then Wimbledon singles and doubles. I would rather see her deeper in the slam .

Don't be so certain about them losing in the first round. Agnieszka and Urszula put up good fight at RG. I sense that both of them are close to breaking to the next level relatively soon in singles and perhaps in doubles, although I have no idea how they Agnieszka will perform with Marta.

Razzano - Kanepi 6:3 , 6:4. Razzano isn't good enough to win with Agnieszka, furthermore she isn't playing great tenis last weeks. So good for Aga.

I hope that it would be another one of winning traning, but this time on higher level :)

And that is best option for me to do their best here in Eastbourne and later in Wimbledon but only single. Debel is a really bad idea.

they suspended this match at 8pm which was 9pm in Poland. Here its not dark yet, and 40 mins ago it was still pretty bright...
GBR is more in the North than Poland which means in summer the day is longer than here, so why for the fuck's sake did they stop the match :o

Dexter
Jun 18th, 2008, 07:43 PM

UK=GBR+Northern Ireland isnt it?

You are correct, but all I am saying is that the term of GBR is rarely in use while UK is commonly used obviously describing larger territory. If one separates the countries of UK he speaks of England, Scotland, Wales and Norther Ireland rather than speaking of Great Briatain as one entity.

God, she was lucky that Virginie gave her the match with those stupid mistakes, I felt that at the end Razzano was the better player. It's in those conditions that her consistency pays though. This long rally at 5/4 40/30 illustrated that, she slowly won centimeter after centimenter on Virginie and the French woman made the mistake. Very clever from Aga!
As you said spriwi, it was a real lottery, but Aga stayed calmed when she needed. That makes her strength.
