Well, one of the commentators on ES said she had. After showing MP of Dementieva vd Domachowska, the commentator said " Dementieva, the finalist of 2004 losing to Myskina in the first russian grand slam final. Of course, Myskina is retired now"

:confused::rolleyes::confused:

Comentators on ES often says bulshit, no need to take them seriously. Nastya retired? Officially not, but is there anyone who still belive?

Well, she is retired. She hasn't played for over a year and has no intentions doing so in the future. I'm not waiting for an official statement, it's crystal clear she's not coming back. Sad, but true.

Hmm, I guess so. Maybe I am deluding myself a bit that she may return. :sad:

I guess it's official now. I'm not surprised, it still makes me a bit sad though.
I'm still a tennis fan, but I don't have a favourite right now to root for. Tennis won't be the same :sad:.
I understand and respect her decision and I wish her all the best in the future. I'm sure she's enjoying her after-tennis life and I'm convinced she's a great mum :hearts:.

Well, I would invite you to join us Dementieva fans, sinterklaasje, but I'm not that cruel. :lol:

I'm glad Nastya has made up her mind (although Nastya is fully capable of contradicting herself at any time) to retire. Her injuries made her a shadow of her former great self.

And while her career was all too brief, the fact is she packed more entertainment value and delightfully screwball behavior into her time at the top than 100 other players.

The Czarina is dead ... yet she still lives.

:sad: It's strange to think it's all actually over. Hopefully these decisions are all at her own terms, and I wish her luck. :awww:
