"I am very happy with my draw" says Alize Cornet "If I qualify I will play the World #1, Elena Dementieva, a player I have a lot of respect for. However she is not in good form at the moment and I have nothing to loose, the pressure will deifnately be on her side. I hope to surprise her by altering my tactics from Wimbledon and using my heightened fitness and fresh legs to my advantage."

"I am a bit wary about looking ahead as I can clearly remember what that cost me at the last tornament. However I am salivating at the prospect of facing Serena Williams in the quarter final. She made many personal attacks on me during Wimbledon, which ultimately lead to my defeat as she got into my head. I desire revenge and think there will be an emotion filled match if we meet, I can tell she is scared, and rightly so. It'll make Good TV"

Kirilenko: "The REAL Maria is back, watch out on me!"

http://images.skysports.com/images/playerpics05_06/Gallery/WimbledonBabes/kirilenko.jpg
Maria back in Wimbledon after a serious shoulder injury

After a serious shoulder injury, young Russian star Maria Kirilenko is abck on the OWTT Tour with confidence.

Actually, Maria'first tournament played after the injury was last week Wmbledon, where she put preasure on the Australian Open chapion and former world nuber one Dominika Cibulkova, 6-7 6-3 4-6, a very tight match, where two beauties fought really hard. "It was not a nice comeback tournament for me, also it's a Grand Slam, but actually i was not felling 100% out there on court and Dominika plays so well, i hope i can do better next time!"

http://home.mchsi.com/~sonjajo/Maria_Lite_3908.jpg
Maria pratising in Stanford

And now it's in Stanford, the first American summer hardcourt tournament, also Maria applies a new coach. All the things are different here, also for Maria, she praticed today and she said she was feeling good here in America. "It is nice to play in America, the facilities here are amazing, also i love America, all the things here are amazing. Also i think my groundstrokes are stronger than that i played last week, so i am looking forward to this tournament! I hope i can reach the quarterfinal!!" Maria said these words confidentially.

About the Olympics, Maria said that it's honour to represent her own country Russia to play in a prestigious event, the feeling of playing Olympics is totally different than playing in GS or other professional tournaments, she is looking forward to the Opening Ceremony and the tournament, we wish her best of luck and i am sure her dream can be sure!!

Alizé Cornet trumped her Wimbledon upset, over World #3 Gisela Dulko, after defeating #1 ranked Elena Dementieva, 6-1 7-5, earlier today.

“With each upset the shock doesn’t go away. Ecstatic doesn’t some it up; shock and disbelief also spring to mind. Lena is such a great player, so fast and consistent I am still not sure how I did it. She came back so strong in the second I really had to use all my Dr Kawashima's Brain Training techniques to pull through.”

“However this time I am not going to get ahead of myself, I know full well what happened at Wimbledon and am going to take each day as it comes. My next round opponent is Miss Salerni, a player I admit I do not know a lot about, however I do know she is very clever on court and I will have to play my best tennis or I will be going home tommorow.”

Maria hits a backhand with her new outfit and after match point

Young Russian tennis star Maria Kirilenko moves to the second round as she beat the experienced Japanese Ai Sugiyama in two easy sets, 6-1 6-3, a good scoreline for Maria, who just cameback to the tour last week at Wimbledon. In this match, Maria hits 20 winners with only 8 unforced errors, compare with Ai's 10 winners and 30 unforced errors, Maria seems deserve this win to her own!

About this win, Maria feels very happy with what she played today, "It's just amaing, my hardwork seems paid off, i was feeling very good with my forehand and volley. But i think Ai is too nervous and seems a little bit tired as she need to finish two matches today. But i still think i did an incredible job today!"

About her next oppoment, American and number eight seed Serena Williams, Maria said th following, "Oh my!!! Serena is a fantastic player, her powerful strokes and serves are so powerful, i can't imagine that, but i hope i can just being myself on cour and i hope i can get more games from her!!"

There are some upsets in this tournament, like Frenwoman Alize Cornet beats Mairi's former doubles partner and world number one Elena Dementieva in two sets, Golovin beats Olaru and Jankovic beats Dulko, it seems that this tournament is deserved for the giant killers, we wish Maria good luck against Serena and hope this match can also be one of these upsts!!

Golovin upsets Olaru; Davenport loses yet again

The Wimbledon Semifinalist, Tatiana Golovin, is proving she is in great form once again. In the first round in Stanford she upset Ioana Raluca Olaru, world number 5, by 0:6, 6:0, 6:4. Golovin couldn't find her game in the first set as she hit 23 unforced errors and only 5 winners to lose the set by 6:0, but being the champion she is, she picked her game up and won the second and third set comprehensively by 6:0 and 6:4. She will face lucky loser Agnieszka Radwanska in the second round, who beat Lindsay Davenport by 6:0, 6:3.

A short interview with Tatiana after the match

Congratulations, Tatiana. Talk about the match a bit.
"Thanks. Yeah, definitely a good match. You know Iona is a great player and she beat me before, I think, so I knew I would have to play my best in order to win this one. I started playing really bad, but I picked my game up and won. I'm pleased with this win. This is also my first match on hard-courts, cuz we played on grass for a while now, so I still have to find my rhythm a bit. I take this as a preparation tournament for the bigger events(laughter)."

Your next opponent is Agnieszka Radwanska. Do you know her?
"No, I don't know anything about her or her game; I just know she is a lucky loser, right? Yeah, I expected to play Davenport, but you know she is a loser, so you can never be surprised when she goes out early. I saw a bit of the match and Davenport was dreadful as usual, she is slow as a cow and very, very lazy. She needs to work on that movement a bit, because it's truly pathetic. Maybe I could give her some pointers(laughter). No, she asked me to help her, but I hate her, so it's not gonna happen, she's gonna have to work it out on her own. I don't believe she can though. Loser is always a loser, that's how it is. She is also a mean person, what an awful personality she has, my god. Quite the whole package, right?(laughter)"

Any charity work coming up?
"Yeah, I'll be launching the "Help Jessica Whore" foundation in about a week or so, so you definitely have to check it out. I can't give too much away, but I've been informed by other players she might need a brain-transplant. She has a, what's the right term...Yeah a "brainus reatardus" so I'm going to do my best to help her. One of the symptoms of this disease is living in illusions and she definitely is. That's why she thinks she's a top player, poor thing. I'd like to publicly send positive thoughts to Jessica. You're in my prayers."

Thanks, Tatiana. We hope you enjoy your stay here in Stanford.
"Thanks. Oh, I'm already enjoying(laughter)."

Mari hits a backhand return and after match point

Youngstar Maria Kirilenko won her second round match against the hot American and number eight seed Serena Williams in two easy sets, 6-0 6-2, although the scoreline looks easy, Maria said this was a great match. Also by winning this second match, Maria has reached her goal as she said that she want to reach the quarterfinal in this tournament before the tournament starts.

"Yeah!! The scoreline is pretty easy for me, but actually Serena put a lot of pressure on me on court today, her powerful forehand and backhand, also those serves, are scary. Proballyshe hits to many unforced errors and i hit a lot of drop shots as i know she doesn't feel good at net. I feel pretty sorry for her, jut gives her two games, hopefully she can get back her form soon and play with me again in the future."

Her next oppoment will be young Frenchwoman Alize Cornet who beat Elena Dementieva and Maria Emilia Salerni en route to the Quarterfinal, actually Alize entered the main draw as a qualifer, also she beats many top players at Wimbledon. "Alize is a good player, she hits a lot of angled-shots, also i don't know much of her, but i know that she has already defeated many top players like Elena, that will be a tough match for me, but i think this run is enough for me as i don't want to hurt my shoulder again!! But i will try to do my best on there on court tomarrow!!"

We believe that although Maria said she didn't have too much confidence at this tournament, she will also play her best tennis tomarrow, we wish her best of luck!!

Moore Contemplates Future
http://www.theage.com.au/ffximage/2008/01/16/tennis19_gallery__600x358.jpg
A despondant Jessica Moore's future is clouded in doubt

Stanford, USA - After a disappointing run of pre-quarter final loses over the past few weeks, Jessica Moore is known to be waying up her future on the OWTT Circuit. The top ranked Aussie started the season well, reaching a host of quarter and semi finals in Asia and the Middle East before suffering a sudden downward spiral in form and confidence on the European claycourts. Unfortunately, she has not been able to regain her form of earlier in the season and is thus quite despondant.

'You know, I am really disappointed with my recent results. I really expected that I would be firmly entrenched in the top 10 by now, but instead I am struggling to maintain my top 15 ranking. I know I have been playing poorly in recent times, but maybe I have underestimated the potential and the ability of many girls in the top 10. Players like Dementieva, Vaidisova and Peer are relentless and rarely suffer a spate of early round losses. Even other players, who shall remain nameless, have done better than me. It's quite disheartening, especially when I know I have sunk about as low as Golovin in terms of form.'

'But life goes on. I'm still only 17 and this is my first serious downturn in form and confidence? What should I do? Hang tough and play through the bad patch? Sack my coach and agree to work with Borna Bikic? Have a break from the game? Or retire? I honestly don't know. But if my form doesn't improve in the next few weeks, then maybe I should take Golovin's advice and retire from the game.'

The always honest, ever frank Moore then left the interview room abuzz with looks and conversations of confusion and despair. Imagine the OWTT Circuit without Moore. As she herself has put it, she is the original bitch on tour, the biggest and the best. She came up with the craziest and most ingenious quotes which filled gossip magazines and helped make the jobs of journalists so much easier. This made her a poster girl for today's rebellious teenagers and she thus became the face of Coca-Cola's recent advertising campaign. If the results failed to improve, such endorsements would no doubt dry up and many would see Moore as a spoiled brat rather than the wonderful and quick witted media talent that she is. Or worse, she could retire, joining a long line of stars to vacate the circuit.

Leading officials within the OWTT were asked to comment on Moore's current predicament, but refused. Later, they decided to release a media statement which said, 'We understand that Moore is weighing up her future. We strongly hope that she finds her way again and continues playing on the tour. If she did leave the circuit, she would be greatly missed by fans, players and officials all around the world.'

Wozniacki's streak continues. Radwanska gave her a hell of a scare in the first set, leading 4-0 and 5-2, but Wozniacki managed to claw her way back. The second set was great tennis as well and Wozniacki made the crucial break. Nice week for Aga though, making the quarters :)

Big win here for Domi, who hasn't been in the semis since her win back in Melbourne. She did well to compose herself after blowing a big lead in the first set, and not closing it out at 5-2 in the decider. The second set was crucial here, with Domi's weak set fitting perfectly against Vaidisova's

Maria spanks Alize

http://i214.photobucket.com/albums/cc219/5e4n/normal_alize-coub08-dreylau110mc-1.jpg

Earlier today Maria Kirilenko gave Alize Cornet a lesson in how to play tennis with a dominating, 6-1 6-1, drumming.

"I'm not going to lie, that hurt. No excuses for what happened today she was far to good for me, there is nothing I could do. This is going to take a long time to get over, I have never felt so outplayed in a match of tennis. My game just did not match up well at all to hers."

"I think it's time to have a serious think about my game, if I am to be competative on this tour and not just a threat to the high seeds in early rounds. I just hope I can bounce back even stronger, you can't win every match".

"I wish her the best of luck in the next rounds, I really feel she can take this title"

Great match between these two. Maria will be kicking herself that she blew a 5-2 lead, and 2 set points in the breaker, but Jankovic hung tough out there and is rewarded with her first ever final! Well done :)

Fairytale week for Jankovic, who had never even been into the semis before, let alone atour final. She showed no nerves whatsoever and brought her best against Cibulkova. The first set was very tight, but from 2-2 in the second set, Jankovic really stepped things up and ranaway with it. Nice week for Domi still! :)
