I can't remember. I read it in one of the ITF threads where Elena was playing. Someone commented that he/she wonders why Elena has any fans. So I asked if there's any particular reason why he/she seems to dislike her so much. He/she then shared that he met Elena & she was arrogant.

I'm not really sure myself, anybody here has met Elena in person? She seems to be really shy from interviews & pictures.

I'm even from Romania and don't know her personally :o

From 3-2 in the second to the end.

Bogdan is a lefty shotmaker with a good serve and plenty of firepower from the baseline. Her FH DTL was doing a lot of damage, and she was willing to move forward to finish off points at the net with drive volleys - and she can also pull off superb BH dropshots.

Sesil's serve is at Camille Pin levels right now, and the only thing she can do with her FH is to loop it as deep as she can (i.e. not much) and wait for the best. Her BH remains sublime though; as HenryMag noticed, she has superb control on it even when hitting it late and out of balance. Bogdan was pounding Sesil's FH side, and in most rallies Sesil was hanging by a thread. She was being completely overpowered while serving at 4-4, but held mostly due to Bogdan being dismal on ROS. Eventually Bogdan earned the chance to serve for the set at 5-6*, but choked horribly, and then went for too much on every single point in the TB, handing Sesil the win on a silver platter.

I would love it if Elena can qualify. Sabine Lisicki is one of the most popular and highly regarded players in the forum and it would not be a popular victory but it would delight me. I have thought for some time Lisicki is, shall we say, regarded somewhat more highly than her results justify and I think Elena the way she is playing has the ability to burst the bubble just as Sloane Stevens did last week and Mandy Minella the week before. Lisicki is one of the better player ranked outside the top 100 but she is a long way from being unbeatable and if Elena can play her best she could surprise a lot of people. ;)

I wouldn't play hardcourt GS qualifying if I were her. I mean she sucked all year on her favorite surface and now she's hoping to win matches on hard? I can easily see Elena becoming a doubles specialist sooner or later.

She'll have to.

She has reached her maximum potential in singles a couple of years ago, she has such poor mobility and she seems unable to get a good position for hitting the ball, and these only leaves her with the doubles.

What a pity, though!

Even though I know for sure Ema is a modest and down to earth girl (I'm friends with her cousin) and Olaru seems like a good girl herself, vanities can be very big even at this level (take Jill Craybas who's 38, had her share of good times tennis-wise, she's completely out and still won't call it a career). Both Ema & Raluca are still very young and they owe it to themselves to keep trying at least for a while.
But I'd give them one more season to keep trying. If you stay off the horse for a long time it's getting harder and harder to get back on it, and they're both out of form for too long now...
