And so it starts!!!

I could never find the GM/Non-Tennis thread for this...

Even Sonj has managed to check out all the songs before me...

Some VERY bizarre music to start - like a marching band rendition of past winners!!!

Ian Aberdon
May 20th, 2008, 08:06 PM
I VOTE FOR THE TURKEY!!!! :bounce:

RFS
May 20th, 2008, 08:17 PM
OK - quick round up so far...
Rock Ballad from some chunky looking 6th form dude from Montenegro - ok but nothing to write home about
High pitched warble from the Israelian Pop Idol (song written by Dana International - remember her!!!)... ok - better than most they've entered

Estonia... Ummmmmmmm
Think I've gonna nip back to my carbonara

дalex
May 20th, 2008, 08:18 PM
Ros :o
It's not bizarre , it's Serbian traditional music! Well more Gipsy Orchestra but traditional nonetheless.

Ana should have a video message and Nole should be there to start the voting.

дalex
May 20th, 2008, 08:20 PM
Did Estonia get booed? :rolls:
I kinda like Israeli song. I know, I should feel ashamed (), but I like traditional sounds.

Ian Aberdon
May 20th, 2008, 08:24 PM
Oh right - this is the knockout before the final. The turkey is in already! :yeah:

RFS
May 20th, 2008, 08:24 PM
Actually... yeah - I thought I hear boos as well before they started and apologies Alex for insulting the Serbian Traditional music

OK - so Moldova looked like a reject from Nancy/I'd Do Anything
San Marino.....'nother Rock Ballad - but bad... although the dude looks like he's busting to go to the toilet!... maybe the nerves eh!

Israel so far the best for me, followed by this one (San Marino)

RFS
May 20th, 2008, 08:25 PM
Oh right - this is the knockout before the final. The turkey is in already! :yeah:

No - Turkey has to be voted in tonight I think... that's what they were saying on BBC Breakfast!

дalex
May 20th, 2008, 08:26 PM
And by turkey, you mean Dustin? No turkey is in the final yet, Rich. You need to vote for your turkey to get there.

RFS
May 20th, 2008, 08:27 PM
Didn't Belgium do this some other year - with a madey-uppy language... but the song last time was gorgeous.
This... ummmm... no - perhaps some washing up and clearing up graprfruit juice I managed to kick all over the floor...

Edit: Unfortunately we can't vote until Thursday ... some strange bint is in the booth with Paddy O'Connell (and she's bloody irritating... a wanna-be Fearne Cotton, but I don't think it's her...)

Ian Aberdon
May 20th, 2008, 08:28 PM

дalex

Oh, I'm sorry, are the thread titles not clear enough for you? This is the thread where we discuss Eurovision. There are about a zillion threads labelled "JJ Photos" or "JJ News" or "JJ Cheering" where we discuss JJ. I can see how that might all be confusing, but I think you'll find that applying logic to the thread titles is a big help. They appear in bold when they've been updated which, for the JJ threads, is rather often. Good luck!

I finally made it through the first semi. Estonia, OMG. :haha: :haha: And Plushenko, OMG. As a friend of mine said, that performance had more choreography than any of his programs. And the Greek postcard was . Novak's suit defies description, but the singing was, um, amazing. And Dustin the Turkey was so, so robbed. When are we going to go to Ireland to party the shamrock way now??

French? More Nordic-ness... Iceland!
My My - you could skewer yourself on that hair!
Did she over-do the mascara... her eye was half shut!!!
Classic Eurosong...

Sweden: Another classic Eurosong - although I thought my telly was on the fritz with her appearing in black and white....
Legs that go on for ever and bacofoil... good look!

Turkey - (no NOT Dustin...) -LOVE a bit of guitar... and he looks like the dude off the Stereophonics without the voice of a thousand drillers surface mining the back of his throat!

Ukraine... WOW!! Although nothing will ever top Zena Warrior princess that one - but that has the edge for me over Swedish Bacofoil bird...

Lithuania... - oh No.... the hair, the rings, the song... ALL kinds of bad...

I think I'm gonna vote Portugal this year. I really think it's a rare quality song from western Europe :ras: and they never did good on ESC. I think Sweden or Ukraine will win though. Mainly because of block voting. If I had to pick a diva to win, I'd go with Greece or Armenia - the songs are catchier and easier to listen to, and they are HOT.
Norway has such a familiar tune but I'm not sure what it reminds me of.
Oooh, and I'd like Bosnia & Albania to do well, but I don't think they have a chance to win, maybe Bosnia depending on whether neighbours go for them or Serbia this year.
And please, stop booing Albania, idiots! The girl is only 16 FGS!

Germany have been on - and were pretty awful, it has to be said. Not very tuneful

JJ and Puppy will prolly have their messages in the voting interval

Jelena, please come very soon, this is pure torture for me. Btw, Finland will send a real Metal Band some day, they are only teasing Europe in terms of the upcoming storm in the next years, hahahaha

Yeah I can't believe I'd ever watch the Eurovision Song Contest - but there is a reason of course.

BTW only 19 posts last time I checked till 50000 posts in JJ forum. It's gonna happen in this thread and soon.

To be very honest...just always. Geographically Russia was always a part of Europe. I know it feels a bit strange, but that's the way it is.
