Isia - Lena FINAL
This would be a great final. I really hope she will shake off (...) I really don't know what Agnieszka needs to shake off, but she is not herself since Amelia. I always say it is natural to go through bad form periods and I guess it is, what actually scares me that some players never come out of it for whatever reason... to hell... she has too much talent. I am right aren't I?

"aren't I?" is correct as far as I know... and I've been living in the states long time :)... if I said "ain't I" then it would be perhaps not broken but southern US dialect.

I just read an article on Radwanska sisters web site. If you can understand Polish here is the direct link: http://www.radwanskasisters.com/news.php?action=details&nID=224. The title of it is “Agnieszka Radwanska in Istanbul – why does she need this tournament?” In the article they go to explain that WTA requires top players to participate in lower ranked tournaments at least four times a year. Agnieszka was on the list for Istanbul and since they already skipped Antwerp the fine for cancelling would be very high. Agnieszka’s manager Victor Archutowski admits that she treats this tournament as a practice before French Open and it will not be “life and death” fight. They are concerned that if she gets to the final she will have to play until Saturday while other players will practice in Paris starting mid of this week. In fact Agnieszka is in Istanbul with her mom and Urszula is practicing in Dortmund with the dad and in the middle of the week they go to Paris.

Attack players??? -- I don't get it.

To disapprove of their performance, to criticize their game or their behavior, to express disappointment, well, yes. But why anybody should be allowed to heap abuse or call names?

Tennis after all for many long years was associated with good manners. So is it too much to expect some good manners from tennis fans on this forum? (I mean the forum as a whole, not this thread of course).

Yes attack players = Name call

For example in GM I've seen Radwanker and my personal favorite Annoy Ivanobitch:lol:

Oh and of course there's fitting the word choke into somebody's name which apparently is as funny around here as a man getting hit in the balls with an object:lol:

I don't think that adding the word choker to the lyer's name is offending.. if you add nasty words so yes, but choke, for me it's fine.. Have you ever visted in brother site MTF (Mentennisforums)? they add the word "mug" or "choker" to any player the can and it's a regular basis there.. They even have a mug contest :rolls:

Losing this first set 61 is not a good omen, but given her current form, it's pretty much in her standards. As long as she keeps on winning & being healthy I don't mind that she has some extra training before Roland-Garros.

I am glad to learn that you don't approve of such behavior personally. Nobody should.

Seeing something like Ivanobitch always fills me with revulsion. And not because I feel sympathy towards Ana, Agnieszka, or anybody else. I feel the same when any player is treated in this base uncivilized manner.

VasVas any news about the level of play in the match?

I posted the following in the GM section:

---- (Self)-quote ----

A match report.

22.5.2008 - Number 2 seed Agnieszka Radwanska beats her Slovenian oponent to qualify for the semis in the Sony Ericsson WTA Tour İstanbul Cup.
Agnieszka Radwanska of Poland was the second player to reach the semifinals. 19 year old Radwanska who is the second see of the tournament faced Andreja Klepac of Slovenia. Radwanska made 16 unforced errors and 3 double faults in the first set which she lost 6-1.

Radwanska managed to win the second set once she cut down her unforced errors and came to the net more often, 6-2.

Klepac who was the only unseeded player to qualify for the quarter finals made a good start to the third set. She was 3-1 up when Radwanska made impressive shots to bring the score to 4-4.Radwanska made 0 unforced errors in the final two games and closed the set 6-4.

i must say i feel for aga, she'll made way more tired than her final oponent, elena won without much trouble (maybe except for own multiple dfs in the 2nd set) 6-2 6-4 in one hour and 15 minutes

dementieva is playing some great tennis now, will be very hard to stop her tomorrow, still i have faith in aga & elena's serve ;) :)

Great last set Aga, if I trust Maciek ;). But don't forget that Elena is the defending champion, she won't be as nervuuuus as Aga in the final and she is back to top 10, so she is the best ever on this planet after Chakvetadze *end of Goldenbottox mode*

Cmon Aga, find your form again please.

Yes, I can't agree more. Aga was dominating the whole match from 3/3 till the end with her tricky tennis & her amazing defense. This was absolutely gorgeous to see, she was so relaxed, confident in her shots that Dementieva the queen of long rallies never found the key to overpower her. This play was a pure diamond, well done Aga on a 3rd title! :yeah:

RADWANSKA WINS THE TITLE
undefined (25.05.2008) 2nd seed Agnieszka Radwanska of Poland won the singles title at Istanbul Cup 2008 by beating defending champion Elena Dementieva.
2nd seed Agnieszka Radwanska of Poland upset top seeded defending champion Elena Dementieva of Russia 6-3 6-2 to win the singles title at 2008 Sony Ericsson WTA Tour Final.

Dementieva started the match with six back to back winners to go up 2-0 but Radwanska fought back to level and prevailed by breaking in the eight game.

Radwanska fought impressively from the baseline and returned many difficult balls back to Dementieva, forcing the Russian into unforced errors.

As momentum turned towards Radwanska, Dementieva struggled to find her rythym and she gave her opponent a 5-1 lead in the second set.

Polish 2007 doubles champion, allowed Dementieva one more game but closed out the match in the next game and became the first player to have won both singles and doubles crowns of Istanbul Cup.
