I was rooting for Caro, but now I feel sorry for Tamira. She is a better player than this score indicates...

How long is the losing streak for Tamira now?

She beat Cornet in Miami, then lost to Chakvetadze, the two Fed Cup matches, Bondarenko at Berlin and now this debacle. For the love of Pete, Tamira, please play tennis out there!

:oI really hope Tamira stops playing for a while. She needs to work on her fitness and her serve. She is also mentally weak. Hope the hype was not too much :o

The funny thing is that Paszek thinks she is on the right way to become one of the best tennis players. Her interviews for Austrian medias are just hilarious:lol::o

Maybe Santos wasn“t the right choice :fiery:

I thought she replaced Santos with Brooks?

Whatever it is, she isn't going to have a chance to win matches unless she can find a way to hold serve. She was serving much better than this last year. It's as though she completely forgot how. I hope she straightens it out quick.

She's in a slump. Maybe she has some problems totally unrelated to tennis. She's only 17 years old. Give her time to pull out of it. Players like Jankovic and Petrova have gone weeks without winning matches, and they both made it to the top five. Clearly, Tamira isn't playing the way she can play. She beat the h*ll out of Kirilenko in Auckland and played well against Davenport earlier this year.

Most observers think she has a huge amount of talent. When she puts it all together, she will be dangerous.

Well done Caroline. :yeah:

As for Tamira, I think her problems really began when she lost Larri Passos as coach. A coach can make such a differance to a young player and they really don't come any better than Passos. That guy is class all the way through. I think without Passos, Tamira is just a bit directionless. Perhaps they can get him back after Passos finishes working with Guga after Roland Garros? To be honest, without Passos, Tamira is a just one of a couple of dozen young talented girls in the game, some of who will achieve a huge amount, others who will achieve a fair amount, and others who will do very little at all. It really isn't clear which group Tamira will fall in.

Caro on the other hand looks more and more like she has a great career ahead of her.

Maybe. I'd like to see her take more than five or six games against a top power player not Venus Williams first before saying she could have a great future ahead of her.

Good win. Get it together, Tamira.

Why not Venus WIlliams?

And if that is the only factor you look at to see if she has a great future :tape::help:

She gets crushed whenever she faces anyone with a big game aside from Venus who is inconsistent as hell off the ground, so it's understandable she can make matches a fairly tight two setter.

Although she did take seven games off Ivanovic at Melbourne...I forgot about that. :tape:

It's just Caro can't hang with big girls at ALL right now to the point it's almost embarrassing how she gets beat down. It'll change, but I need to see the changes first.

Key point!

I can tell you are a stats freak. If you can tear yourself away from cement results and look at her game i think you would see what ChrisCHorse has seen.

I do agree she can do better against the top players.

May 13th, 2008, 08:45 PM
I used to like Wozniacki. I don't see anything special, and that has nothing to do with stats. But that's just me. I like seeing her win, though. She's a pleasant girl with a nice game. Like I said, I'm just waiting to see her breakthrough.

The last time I watched Caroline, I didn't notice anything truly spectacular, no really big weapons or anything, but she's consistent, I suppose. I hope she develops her game more so I can appreciate it more, she's a beautiful girl.

Anyway, good win. Strange to see Tamira going down so tamely these days.
