Agi :yeah:

Agi must know something about Zi. ;) She is not that bad to loose four sets to 6:1 in a row.

I'd like to see Szavay. Anybody know if she has Cincinnati in her schedule?

Surprised Zi couldn't get more than one game per set (twice). Since I know Zi plays hard and fights hard, Agnes must be just that good. I'd ask if Agnes is a big girl but I see they are both about the same height and on the short side.

Well done, Agi. :D

It'll be good if Agi simply keeps up her clay form this week. I want her to peak at Roland Garros!

I love Yan Zi she knows how to tame the Serbians!

Drake: It also has to do with clay. Zi would give Agi more trouble on a faster court. Agi loves to loop her forehand, and is one of the best tactical players around these days. Chinese ball bashing isn't going to get it done against her, especially on clay.

You'd be treated if you saw Agi in person. Her movement is extremely fluid, very elegant, and her huge groundstrokes (especially the backhand) and big serve make her fun to watch and also allow her to win quick points. Her best results have come on fast surfaces, but her game is best suited to clay, IMO. She's run into some good claycourters this season, other than Davenport, which she was tired for, IMO.

I agree with faboozadoo15,

Szavay puts much more 'effect' on the ball on a clay court than Yan, coupled with her power and fluidity, she has dominated Yan two weeks in a row on clay. On a hard court the two would be a more even match, but it must be said that Szavay has more work on her shots, more spin which adds weight to the ball.... anyhow, I will wait for them to play on a hard court to see what Yan can do next time.

Players like Sharapova have more consistency, reach, trajectory on the serve, and mental fortitude. I'd dare to say Sharapova has more variety than the Chinese girls too :tape:

I'm always baffled at how the Chinese girls have not tried to emulate Hingis or Henin. They want to play like the Williams sisters, but they don't have the physical assets or the mental fortitude or point constuction.

Do they teach hitting patterns in China? You can see more strategy in junior matches.

typical maria and davenport fans :p

without her big serve, maria is a bit :help: just watch her 07 performance :p

and juju has the physical assets, she can serve up to around 180 kph :o she is just in the slump at the moment.

anyway western girls' body structures are physically stronger than asian players' :p

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think Sharapova's 2007 would be better than any year that any Chinese woman has ever had. She made a mjor final, a major SF, F of the YEC, and won a tier 1.

Justine works really hard on beefing up her serve and goes for it all the time. She serves less than 50% in half her matches. She has better serving technique than the Chinese girls. That's the difference. She has the same body type as Li.

way to go Agnes. She didn't serve that well in Berlin.
Right after her QF loss to Ivanovic Agnes went to court no1 for 45 minutes and practiced serve. Good to see it has paid off :)
