Nejedly Kanepi, SORRY! No Tataiana Galovin and Olga Puchkova in the draw! <img src="graemlins/lick.gif" border="0" alt="[Lick]" />
Maria SHARAPOVA is catching up with Tataiana Galovin in the rankings!
I don't like when Galovin and Puchkova play too many tournaments for their ages! Come on, they are 13 yrs old. Obviously, they are in a rush, aren't they? Do they want to be like Martina Hingis, huh? Fortuntely, Maria is smart as she is taking her time. I can see her ranking goes up faster than theirs.

Michelle Mitchell is a tough draw for Sharapova. I am excited to see if Sharapova can advance past Mitchell and if so, if she blows her away or not.

Gee Scott, it looks like Sharapova blew Mitchell away. So much for Maria having a tough match with her. But it's hard to believe that someone so sweet, so lovely, so nice, so cuddly and so kitten like, like Maria, can be so ruthless to her opponents. Don't you find that surprising? Maria Sharapova may possess an important quality that the other female Russian tennis players lack. That is a killer instinct. Take no prisoners Maria!

I am shocked that Maria thrashed Mitchell. Some of Mitchell's exploits are on the page linked below.

In her last 2 matches, Maria has played girls even younger than she is! I wonder if Maria has ever lost to a girl younger than her. I doubt it. Any idea?

Wow! I cannot believe how dominant Sharapova was in this tournament. Hirsch, Liles and Mitchell are all solid players. Sharapova should move up to #80 in the ITF Rankings but she is playing like a top 10 or 20 player. I sure hope she plays in the Eddie Herr tournament in the 18 year old bracket.

Congratulations Maria! Wow! Maria decimates the field once again! Maria is only 14, but she is a 5'8" 105 pound titan, who is dominating some of these 18u tournaments like she owns them! It's a tremendous accomplishment. Especially when you consider she only started playing the 18's in July. I know the competition isn't the greatest. But Maria the "Russian Lynx" Sharapova is ripping her prey(competion) to shreds! Maybe Maria is the Russian female tennis player with a killer instinct, who will set the standard for female Russian tennis. Udachi Maria!
