There's no points cutoff

It's just the 8 players with the most points for the year.

BUt ya know how they pick players that qualified way before the YEC. Like Justine and Jankovic last year. They qualified in the summer.

Listen, try to understand. There is no magic number. It varies, very substantially, each year. There is no way anyone can give you a genuine answer to this question.

I will tell you that if you are in the top 3 in the race by Wimbledon you are very likely to be in the top 8 at the end of the year providing you don't get injured or go into a terrible slump.

When it was announced last year that Justine & Jankovic had qualified some time before the YEC - that was because there weren't enough tournaments and thus total points left for eight players to catch them in the race. But there isn't a fixed number of points to qualify. You just have to do the Maths.
