Right now clearly she doesn´t deserve to be holding the number 1 spot, it´s either Serena or Maria the best players at the moment... Also she spent a lot of weeks at the top spot, it´s time for another player to become the number one! I´m also wondering when she´s gonna lose the number 1, maybe after the US Open, since Maria doesn´t have a lot to defend...

As of now, she's still the holder of the French Open, US Open, and YEC. As well as 6 other titles. I can't think of anyone with a better past 52 weeks, and hence more deserving.

Do you want to pretend last year didn't happen?
Even this year, Justine has 2 titles. She beat Sveta and Ana in Sydney.
Then she got to Sharapova in Melbourne. No one was playing at Maria's level at the AO.
You want to toss her out for her results since Antwerp? And pretend she's not holding 2 majors?

This year will be just like 2004, after having a big year in 2003, her game will fall apart for the rest of the season...

She will lose her Nr.1 Position sooner or later ... I think right before Wimbledon ... she'll lose early in Roland Garros and will not defend Eastbourne ... right now Justine still deserves it .. she holds 2 Majors and the YEC .. I don't get how a Davenport fan can ask such a questio??? :tape:

Not me. Look at it this way, instead of comparing themselves to better players and saying, how disappointing, they could be saying, well at least my favourite didn't to THAT.
As soon as she retires she will be forgotten immediately, and someone else will take her place. That's why she still plays, she knows some of us still love her anyway.

Dumb thread.

Of course she deserves to be #1. She has 2 Slams on her ranking for gods sake! If you want to see the 2008 rankings, then look at the race, where you'll find Justine is not #1.

Well.... I just don't think any player is really playing better than justine...
of course, she is crappy nonetheless, but she lost to the same person who serena lost to..
and maria...welll... she is MIA in Red Clay...

Actually, where are the top 5?
they all lost in berlin!!!!!

They all have good streaks and bad losses... Everyone plays like their is really no clear #1 right now, So why don't we just settle on the numbers...

:worship: Who knows who will go on a hot streak next? Serena, Justine, Maria or maybe Ana or Jelena or Elena?

And to the original poster, you do know she is holding/defending 9 titles, right? Roland Garros, Eastbourne, Toronto, USO, Stuttgart, Zurich, and YEC from 2007 and Sydney and Antwerp from 2008. That's 2 slams and 2 Tier I titles. In comparison, Maria holds/is defending 4 titles(1 slam and 2 Tier I's) and Serena is holding 3(2 Tier I's).

Justine has been slumping all year and you claim nobody's playing better than her? Maria destroyed Justine at the AO, she lost badly to Serena in Miami and lately she hasn't performed well. Maria and Serena have both played better this year.

I don't understand why anyone would have a problem with Justine at the top of the rankings though. She's earned that spot and if the other players want it they'll have to take it away from her.

For the OP, did you start a thread like 'Anyone loves Henin for the fact that she is ranked n1?' when she was playing damn well last year? Guess not.

She won RG, USO, YEC, 5 or 6 other titles as well. She deserves to be number one, but shes got a heck of challenge if she wants to be number 1 at the end of this year!!!
