I fully expect her to lose to Bammer, but I would be more than happy to be proven wrong.

Tough looking draw for Nikki. At this point i hope that she can get a win. Of course it would be a very good tournament if she can get to the third round, most likely against Maria. I really hope that Nikki can get it going in Rome.

Bammer should win this easily, if not her then Wozniacki for sure, and if not Wozniacki then Sharapova 100%.

Hasn't Bammer been having a pretty bad year too? I think Nicole has a chance. I don't care how many times she loses, I'll still think she has a chance, because we all know what she is capable of. We're all just waiting for her to magically "click". If she gets to play someone really good like Sharapova she might respond to the high level and surprise us all.

Nicole gets easier opponent Russian lucky looser Ekaterina Makarova. That's all because Russian Dinara Safina just withdrew due to a tiredness probably(she won last week in Berlin) and Bammer gets her place in the main draw! :woohoo:

maybe a first win ;)

 Makarova?
I saw her playing against Molik last autumn here in Moscow :o and Molik struggled much against her :help:
of course Ekaterina isn't as dangerous as Bammer, but also can be a very tricky opponent for Nicole, especially now :tape:

and I would be glad if Nicole proves me wrong :)
good luck

So it's not Bammer afterall. That only means the loss will be even more embarrassing. :help:

Well hopefully Nikki won`t take her new opponent easily. In fact she can`t now with the slump she`s been in. BTW Nikki and Anna lost their doubles match today. From what i saw following the match on the live scoreboard, they gave a respectable showing. Hopefully we`ll get to see them team up again soon. Also i hope someone will give us a report on the match. I would love to hear if there were any temper tantrums from them.

COURT 6 - START AT 1 PM (ROME TIME)

1. Victoria Azarenka vs. Sybille Bammer[19]

Vika is playing?

She just withered in the Berlin SF, and then ret. from doubles, and now she's playing here, when she wasn't even on the original entry list IIRC?

So it's not Bammer afterall. That only means the loss will be even more embarrassing. :help:

Let's be positive. If Nicole wins more than 2 games, we can say she's improving.

Not looking good, and even if she manages to turn the match around against Makarova she will then very likely lose to Caroline.

I'm not quite ready to give up hope, though. :p

She lost.A new heart-breaking loss for Vaidisova. It seems like she's not enjoying her tennis and don't find any confidence.I looked her match against Dulko and she's wasn't so bad in some parts. It's really mental. We'll see if she will play Strasbourg.I really think she should.

Next step: using some bullshit injury as an excuse to leave the Tour, possibly for good, but never openly admitting she's quitting tennis.
