Amazing.. When I saw the QF lineup, the last thing I was thinking was a possibility of an all-Russian final.. Our Fed Cup 2004 golden duo really delivered big.. I am with Lena in this, of course.. But won't die of a disappointment if it is Dina..

Both are close friends. Last time they Dementieva won 61 60 and took the title.

C'mon Elena.

Agree with ys. I don't really mind who wins this one but their previous matches have been SO dull. Not a single set was won over 62. All 60, 61, 62, and that one retired set.

Hope it's good. Excellent chance for Elena. Great chance for Dinara.

Tough to predict. Both are playing great.

Hopefully it's Lena though, I think she can get back in the top 5 the way she's been playing this year. She just needs a good slam run.

Whatever the scoreline, I just hope Elena wins. :) Regardless, this is a fantastic result for Safina. Safina took out two of the biggest champions in the world. She should realize that this result will make her ranking higher. I wonder how high her ranking will rise?

lena needs this win if she wants to be top5 again. This is an excellent chance, she may NOT lose this if she wants to be a topcontender in paris. This can't be like against zvonereva in charleston, this time she has to win.

Someone said the last time they met on potter mud was 2006 Rome where Dinara won 6-1 6-1..

Correct me if I am wrong, theres a good possiblity I am, but wasnt Istanbul on clay? where Lena won 6-0 6-1 in 2007 and went on to take the title?

Anyhow, who wins this time, hard to call as ever, if it had been on HCs then Lena all the way, on clay its not so cut and dried and could even be 50/50 right now, they have both played well to get here and both taken top oppnents on the way, Lenas faster and fitter, Dinaras possibly got better clay court strategies.

We will wait and see, more Pressure on Dinara as shes going to be desperate to win this, should Lena lose its not huge biggie so on that basis I give Lena a SLIGHT edge to win.

They have never played in Istanbul. Lena won 6-0 6-1 in Moscow. The H2H Is tied at 2-2, with Lena winning her 2 on hard courts and Dinara winning her 2 on clay.

Elena she's serving well (not just for her) and playing big and consistent groundstrokes if she keeps that up Elena will be just a little to strong for Dinara I think

Lena won 6-0 6-1 in the SF of Moscow. She beat Alonya Bondarenko in the SF of Istanbul

Both players can be unpredictable, so this one is tough to call. I think Elena has a bit more experience in these types of big matches and should pull out the win. Unless of course she has a bad serving day which can sometimes happen to her in these high pressure matches. Elena always seems to play better when she's playing a higher ranked player, so this could be a nervous match from her. Dinara can steam roll opponents, but I just don't see it happening here. A close two sets to Elena probably - 7-5 6-3. Something along those lines would be my prediction.

I fear it's gonna be Elena, though Safina really deserves it. But today, she showed first signs of physical weakness, which is quite understandable after the huge amount of play during the entire week.

Elena is SO fit and could play like 5 hours per day pretending to be a wall of bricks. This tournament should be hers.

Unfortunately. But anyway: GO DINARA! :rocker2:

:sobbing: I am not a hater, dammit.

She REALLY shuts me up if she wins Berlin. This is a big, big, big tournament. This could arguably be Elena's biggest tournament victory ever. But she has to win it first.

I'm confident in Elena. If she doesn't make stupid unforced errors at key times and can return well, while keeping her shot direction to Dinara's forehand, I think she can win. Dinara has been good, sometimes even great, but she hasn't looked infallible. Neither has Elena, but Elena has played better tennis than Dinara.

BTW I like both a lot so I'm not being too biased. ;) I agree with the above though, if Elena loses it's not so bad. When you beat Justine and Serena back to back, it's okay to lose to you for awhile.

I really can't see Dinara winning this, but then against I couldn't see her beating Justine or Serena either.

I don't know, if I pick it will probably be biased so I will just leave my comments for after the match.

Hope Dinara wins it, of course. She deserves it way more after her incredible wins this week.

I'm confident Lena can continue this level of play if she stays healthy.
It's a question of whether Dinara can maintain her level in a Tier I final, and after this week.
