When Cibulkova get an easier draw? She should get past Dulko, but then she has Maria in the second round. However, I guess the clay is her best chance for an upset.

A good draw for Sammy Stosur in her comeback to WTA level. Michaela Krajicek in R1 (who's on a 10-match losing streak, and possibly Venus in R2 (who's coming back to WTA from her 'illness'). It'll be a good workout for Sammy to see where she's at competitively..

Michaella hasn't won a match this year. I think Sam will probably win, but 2 matches she did have a wrist injury, and it's possible (thought not 100% certain) that the injury has come back. Well at least one player I like will win the match.

I could see Cibulkova giving her trouble, but, in all honesty, it would be sort of pathetic if she didn't make the SF at the very least. Losing to Bartoli would not be a good sign for her French Open chances.

Do you know why Krajicek keeps playing Tier I ?

Because it was her schedule, and she wants to play against the top players. She did enter Prague late, but that didn't really work for her either. :( Plus, she has said that once you have entered an event it's not easy to pull out (unless you want to have a fine because you don't actually have an injury). ;)

Players in Maria's draw : Vaidisova, Bammer, Paszek, Schnyder :haha: + players coming back from injury like Wozniacki and Vakulenko. And the only seed she has to face before the semi is Bartoli. Her tougher match before the semi could be Cibulkova in 2nd round...

Yeah, most of her fans (me included) have said she should play some tier 3's and 4'd, but she made her schedule at the end of last year, and she doesn't like to change it. Although the way it's going, she's gonna have to change it after Wimby coz she won't get into any Tier 1's or 2's with her ranking. :( She is looking at getting a tennis coach after RG though (thankfully).

Maria has a cakewalk yet again... :tape:

As a Maria fan, I really don't see it as a cakewalk, maybe I don't trust her enough, but Cibulkova can be hard,Dulko too, Bammer gave trouble to Ana this week and she has that "getting every ball back" type of play, well then Vaidisova is in a slump but she still could be dangerous if she's motivated... Sorry but no chance Maria wins this, IMO ...

Serena gets the tougher draw as usual, and yes, big surprise here, but Ana does have a hard draw.

Tennis: Amélie Mauresmo très incertaine à Rome
10.05.08 | 16h25

So she had a test done on Saturday which confirmed her intercoastal lesion. She will have another one done on Monday, if it's still there, she will withdraw.

I wonder how long do intercoastal lesions take to heal ?

Interestine draw. A serbian and Williams in each side for once. I really think that Venus can do it. She's had a long break and has hopefully gotten her head together. It's a fairly balanced draw, but I think the top half is a bit tougher. But I also think the bottom half has some great dark horse players who could do some real damage. I would not bet good money that Venus, Mausesmo or Sharapova doing too much damage though.

The Ana/Anna quarter has 5 qualifiers in it. :help:
How uneven is that?

Still, I see this draw as fairly balanced, the toughest quarter being Sveta/Serena IMHO.

Momo vs. Kirilenko 1st rd.
I don't even know what to say about that, but I will be happy for whomever gets through.

Come on Vee! Glad she is back!!!

Crap! I just read about the lesions. Any abdominal injury takes forever to heal it seems, and If she can't rotate her body then I guess she she should definitely withdraw. Maybe it's not too bad.

Serena has the toughest draw from her 1st match on: Bondarenko, Szavay, Kuznetsova, Ivanovic, etc.
Ivanovic got a pretty rough draw but I think she'll def. blow past Safina, she won't have the pressure of defending a title here.

Venus has a decent draw at least her 1st match shoudn't be too hard. She's coming back from injury but she got two players who are coming back as well: stosure or Krajicek aren't too bad.

After that she'll be an underdog but really it'll be great practice for her.

Something's telling me that Nicole's going to be able to string a couple of wins together and we're going to finally get out battle of the blonds Nikki vs. Masha!!! I just wish Nikki had more confidence and more rhythm in her game- but if it happens it should still be fun.

I've given up thinking that it will ever happen. Something's going on with Vaidisova other than just bad playing. Maybe it's Radek.

Good draw. Happy to see Venus playing (hopefully). I am really curious to see in which kind of form will she appear. I am not too optimistic, I prefer not to raise many expectations. Her possible 3rd round encounter with Zvonareva is dangerous.

Serena will probably still win this tournament even with one of the toughest draws.

Maria will not despite having another cakewalk draw.

joćo.
May 10th, 2008, 11:05 PM
How come Maria has such a good draw and faces Cibulkova or Dulko, who probably are way better atm than some top seeds, in her first match? And also has a fresh Venus and defending champion Jankovic in her side of the draw. While the top will probably be all tired from Berlin or something.
I guess I'll also just start saying that the other favorite players besides Maria, who I want to win, like Serena and Ana always have cakewalk draws so when and if they win it will feel like it wasn't that hard for them either and create a new trend of cakewalk draws non-Masha.

I guess it will be hard for Safina to keep this all up in Rome as well.
Ana should take advantage of that. But Fran in round 2 isn't easy as well.

I just knew that Makiri were in Jelena's side again. But now first Amelie :help:
Keeps it up girl, then you can at least reach a R3

Michaella hasn't won a match this year. I think Sam will probably win, but 2 matches she did have a wrist injury, and it's possible (thought not 100% certain) that the injury has come back. Well at least one player I like will win the match.
