Haide Ana. Make everything you can to remove Justine from the number 1 spot. You totally deserve it.

Apparently in the beginning of the 3rd Ana gave her all producing some awesome winners. Looks like it decided the match, although the finishing off part was far from being clinical. Congratulations on reaching the SF and GL against Lena!

Good that she was able to finish the third set quickly, Ana will still need to raise her level more to be able to defeat Elena in the semi though

Anci..way to go.
Now pls try to do your best against Elena.
It's not fair she has to play twice today but if she wants to be N#1 someday she has to endure this kind of pressure.

Just being realistic she's never beaten her she's not really playing her best and she has to play twice in one day.

I have nothing against Ana, but having Agnes completing the last 4 would have been a lot cooler :)
What a suprising 4some would that have been for a Tier I final?
@ people who say Ana deserves to take the number one spot from Justine... not yet... maybe in the future, if things continue like this, yes, but as of now, considering the last 12 months, Justine is still substantially better (as say the rankings)

Ana in no way deserves the #1 ranking...YET. If she wins a slam, or actually beats Henin, then she might deserve the #1 ranking. Ana is very, very consistent and it compliments her ranking, but she hasn't done anything thus far that makes her the #1 player in the world.

Beating the Serbs ain't something special and not a big achievement IMO
A healthy Maria, Serena, Venus, Justine maybe also Lindsay can whoop them anywhere on any given day :smoke:

Just being realistic she's never beaten her she's not really playing her best and she has to play twice in one day.Ana with her casual claycourt performances is >>> than Elena at her 2008 claycourt best. Only problem is fact that Ana played so far all three 2008 clay matches way under her standards and she will play two matches today.

H2H 0-3 Ana/Lena is not so relevant in this moment, not only because they still not played at clay. Ana played two of this 3 matches in first half of 2006 like #19 and #22 ranked player (Elena is #8 in both cases), and only one of this matches which she played like one of elite WTA players - Ana lose in Dubai this season after recovering of Doha injury and withdraws.

So Lena chances today is about 45%, which is actualy better than Safina and especialy Azarenka chances against Ana. I think Ana will win this tournament despite poor performances in all previous rounds!

Beating the Serbs ain't something special and not a big achievement IMO
A healthy Maria, Serena, Venus, Justine maybe also Lindsay can whoop them anywhere on any given day :smoke:At clay only in-form Justine will beat both in-form Serbs and nobody else. I hope that Ana and JJ both will be at theirs best at RG b/c i realy doubt that Henin will be this time.

Ana :yeah: She's showing that she is more of a champion by coming through these difficult situations.

Now for the real test. I'm torn. I love them both and this would be a great win for both of them. I would love to see Elena go and win this title (anytime she wins a title it's wonderful), but I would also love to see Ana defend for the 1st time.

I love Ana but don't make excuses for her H2H with Lena. If Ana was injured in Doha, then how did she even make the QF in Dubai? Elena played amazing in Dubai and she deserves credit for that.

Since Berlin 2007, Ana is 17-3 in three set matches.

The three losses being:

2007 Stuttgart: Bondarenko :help:
2008 Sydney: Henin
2008 Dubai: Dementieva

You're right, but I just thought that it was hilarious that someone with a 17-3 three-set record would be a 1-3 underdog.

The three losses being:

2007 Stuttgart: Bondarenko :help:
2008 Sydney: Henin
2008 Dubai: DementievaMuch more important stats is that Ana record at red clay since 2007 is 15-1 and all this matches is from biggest tournaments (2 tier-I and 1 GS).

Her 3-setters stats will be useless today if she must play her 4th set today :help:.

pathetic service games, Ági.

I love Ana but don't make excuses for her H2H with Lena. If Ana was injured in Doha, then how did she even make the QF in Dubai? Elena played amazing in Dubai and she deserves credit for that.My point is that in this special case this 3-0 h2h is overrated and not so relevant.
