She lost the 3rd set 6-1, winning only 9 points... since when does that constitute as 'tight'?

basically masha kicked everyone ass but serena
serena is in fine form
justine is on another planet these days far away from tennis
and there is a merry go round for ranks 2 to 5

venus has left the orbit of both earth and venus and is not even remotely interested in stringing a few wins together

nicole can't be bothered to expend energy on the court since she needs to preserve energy for sexy stepanek

Basically the tennis world is upside down.
Sharapova can play on clay while Justine can't.
Serena is taking tennis seriously.

Venus is very sick with a disease called wedding jitters as well as Nicole Vaidisova.
Dementieva suddenly remembers that she belongs in the top 10 while Bartoli recalls that she doesn't belong there.

Mauresmo is going through the motions, what those motions are I don't know because she's playing like shit.
So is Nadia.
The Serb craze is dieing down.
Kuzzie continues to play how to be in the top 5 without winning a tournament.

Vera and Lindsay look prime to come back into the top 12, while Chakvetadze and Hantuchova look prime to leave the top 12.

Another clay season, another top 10 injury delayer for Tati.

No Name Face

Serena's having a great year.
Dementieva is playing the most consistent (if not the best) tennis she has played since 2005.

Kimiko Date back at 37 is one of the big news if not the biggest.

She came back at 50K Gifu, defeating Fujiwara,South and most notably Nakamura en route to the final, but failed to claim the title downed by Tanasugran in three tight sets.

She's crowned in doubles with an unranked local youngster.

Nakamura earned her revenge though in the following week(this week) after Date again beat Fujiwara.

And Chan surprised everybody on American hardcourt. :p She shocked Bammer 61 63 at IW,and in the 3rd round make Davenport really work for the win 64 57 62.In Miami, she also take a set 63 against no.3 Kuznetsova,in the 2nd round. :p

irrelevant

She lost the first set and won the second 1-1

6-1 third set and only 9 pts won = not tight.

Serena vs Safina.. 1-1 after 2 sets...7-6 third

set = tight match

ps ( up 5-3 and a set pt and lose the set, is not
something to brag about.)

Serena vs. Safina had one tight set. The other two were one-sided to either player. Serena won 13 games in the match with Safina, Maria won 12 in the match with Serena, so the difference is not that big. But I agree the Maria match was not tight, but the first 2 sets were, compared to Serena/Safina where only one set was tight.

This is such a pointless discussion anyway tbh.
