Venus In Love

By Tennis Week Friday, May 09, 2008

Venus Williams will appear on HBO's Real Sports On Monday night at 10 p.m. Eastern. Venus Williams is in love and has a affectionate advice for long-time boyfriend Hank Kuehne: he better reciprocate.

The reigning Wimbledon champion reveals her love for pro golfer Kuehne in an exclusive interview with Bryant Gumbel to air on HBO's Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel at 10 p.m. Eastern time on Monday. Gumbel asks Venus "you love him?"

"Why do you have to be asking that? I hate talking about my private life like this," Venus replies, adding: "I think he's a great guy. I love him. Thanks, Bryant. That's against every rule that Serena and I have made up."

When Gumbel asks "Does he love you?" Venus replies: "He'd better."

In addition to her love life, the six-time Grand Slam champion discusses her tennis career, her recent graduation from the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale, her work as a fashion and interior designer and her fight for equal prize money in women's tennis.

Venus also reveals her flight plans are often predicated on her tournament performances.

"I’m not into being a celebrity… like sometimes though, if you ride in coach on the plane, you get upgraded…now that’s fun!" Williams said.

When asked why she flies coach, Williams tells Gumbel: "Because I feel if I haven’t won a tournament, then immediately I am in coach. There are no perks if you’re not doing what you should do on the court. Serena and I are always trying to motivate ourselves to do better. So if we have a loss we shouldn’t have had, it’s coach until you win a couple of tournaments. If you don’t win that slam…Coach!"

Love it.

She's been taking quite a few coach flights lately. I hope she comes back and takes care of that.

The one thing I hate about this interview by Real Sports is that she probably had to deal with :bs: from either an interview with Mary Carillo or Bryant Gumble.

And even in that little bit of quotes you can tell that Bryant is being a total tool as usual.
But as usual Venus is the professional women she always is.

There's nothing wrong with flying coach.
It's not like you're Justine and fly coach even when you win slams.

I'm sorry, but Venus and Serena do much too much flying around the world to be flying in coach and have much too much money. I wonder if this rule applies to their coaches as well.. I can totally see Oracene saying fuck that shit, I wasn't the one other there hitting all those unforced errors like a fucking junior. First class please, thank you.

Venus is so funny. I like the coach part as well. Can you imagine being on a flight and either Venus or Serena is sitting next to you?

Don't the Williams have their own private jet? I bet some of you lot would love to be the trolley dolly (er, sorry, flight attendant) on Williams Air One, wouldn't you?

Not to talk about their love life in public. When you invite the public into your private life you are asking for trouble. They talk even when you don't invite them so imagine when they are invited.

"He'd better". That's brilliant, it's like a veiled threat.

I don't see anything wrong with this attitude they've adopted. If all those who live above their means took note, they'd be debt free

Venus did mention most of the time they're upgraded which is just a perk of being a star. But I can't see Oracene in coach for an extended period of time. The seats are just too small and their isn't any leg room.
