It's official, she is not the same anymore, she is gonna lose her title in RG, I'm really sure about that.

Serena Williams can go in final of Berlin without any problem, Kuznetsova is OUT, Henin is almost OUT:rolleyes:

Sveta out, Justine a point away from being out, I'd say Serena is the top half finalist and we're going to have a new Roland Garros champion this year. :P

The biggest difference with Justine now is that she makes alot of uncharacteristic unforced errors IMO. Its like if you get her in an extended rally, she is sure to wilt...which is not a good precursor for Roland Garros!

I think it is premature to speak about Henin's decline. It just might be a normal slump of the form; everyone goes through it. For her and her fans sake I hope she will be able to recover. Her success did not come because of luck. Justine definitely has the skill and she is not too old yet.

No, not at all, good for her, really good. I just wanted to see some fights in this event but there is and will be nothing, others top players are lost, maybe Jankovic and Ivanovic will give her a huge battle, I really hope else this event is really over:rolleyes:

ya, if she can win some that would help too:lol:

I wouldn't write Justine off just yet. Maybe she's just going to try to focus on slams. However it doesn't look like she's getting her competitive juices back by losing so much.

Justine Henin is not like Wiwis and Sharapova, she need to play and win tournaments before a GS, to accumulate a lot of confidence and regular her game, if she come in a GS wuthout a good preparation it could be dangerous for her, look at yourself her stats before a GS since 2006, everytime she won the tournament or reached final, she made a good result in GS, this year seems very but very complicated for her.
Wiwis and Sharapova, especially Wiwis don't need that, they can come in a GS without a good preparation and made good results sometimes they can win, Sharapova in OA(she just played an exo b4 the tournament this year like the habit). Last year in RG, she just played Istanbul and played horrible but she reached SF in RG.

Jasmin
May 8th, 2008, 02:38 PM
Whatever the case Justine's not getting to many matches under her belt to get the juices flowing because she keeps losing early and she has a light schedule. Yes I already know Justine doesn't have it like the Williams sisters. She can't just come in a slam without matches under her belt and win.

I think she needs a rest, shebounced back from a heartbreak last year when her marriage went bust, threw herself inot tennis and accomplished so much. Maybe she needs a mental break.

When will both Serena and Henin play well again at the same time? :bigcry: Closest was at the US Open and that wasn't Serena's best. Their rivalry has so much potential but not if they both have good and bad periods.

Put yer dummy back in your mouth ... wtf has any of this got to do with Williams?

Bad loss for Henin today. Even if she loses early in Rome next week it's foolish to write off the top clay-courter. Justine will still be the player to beat at RG.

Jasmin
May 8th, 2008, 02:42 PM
Doesn't matter who Justine loses to. I think she needs either break or something. She could very well be back. She's had down years. It happens to all the great ones.

well not really..safina is playing some really good tennis and can cause an upset..theres a possibility of a serena vs azarenka semi which should be worth watching and there are plenty of eye candy matches in the other half...so you should get to see the fights :D

I think she just took a month off....
Is the post match interview out yet ? I really really hope there isn't any more mentions of a "knee injury".

I knew that the "LULZ wait for CLAY!" nonsense wasn't worth much. The surface isn't a magic fixer-aller but I was definitely hoping that the time off would have helped Henin's game to some extent. Whatever physical/emotional issues she is dealing with. And then she had a solid opening round match so that was good, but now this again.
Another "Bartoli at Wimbledon" loss - it's not that she lost that bothers me so much, it's the inevitable 6-0 or 6-1 third set. She's not even trying. She's not even INTERESTED in trying. Bah.

I think it's safe now for the Henin camp to PANIC! And it's not about Justine's game, you don't get to where she is and what she's accomplished without game. It's her KNEE people! Justine will have knee surgery after RG.

i think she will wait till trying another shot at wimby before having the knee surgery

I was going to say that she was probably injured. Henin does not lose sets like 6-1 on clay. She always fights back. Justine's game is based on her movement and if something is not right, she may lose. Today was not her day, we'll see if she rests up for the FO.

She'll be back. When is hard to say but I am confident that she will resurge (though I don't really want to see that happen. Venus, Serena and Sharapova have all gone through it too. It happens to the best players...hell, it happens to all players, it's just more noticeable when it happens to the champions.

Yeah, she´s lost and she just lost her match... now her fans can accept that she´s in a severe slump right now, let´s see which injury will come up to justify this loss. Also they should thank Safina for preventing another humiliating loss that she would suffer against Serena!

When you talk about an elite player like Justine, who has won more majors over the past 5 years than any other TWO players combined, you have to judge her at majors, not the smaller stuff.
Justine ended last year with a USO title, and lost to Maria at the AO.
Maria did not lose a set in Melbourne, to anyone.
You have to wait until Justine is out of RG, or holding her 5th FO trophy, before you can judge a player with Justine's slam results.

She's in a slump:big cry:

Her game (like Amelie's) is build around confidence. She doesn't have that and we're seeing the results. I really hoped being back on clay would help her, and she would have a run here. Evidently not...

I don't get this confidence thing. I mean she's n.1 2000 points ahead of the n.2 and holding two majors titles. On top of that she has won 7 majors in her career....

Maybe she's very hard on herself or something...

Justine isn't in top shape right now. And lacking confidence. It will be tough to defend her RG title and to keep the No. 1 ranking this year.

Yeah, guess she is in a slump right now. Maybe's it's not her year after all.... :awww:

But then, Serena and Maria faced similiar situations before... and came back to glory. So what's stopping her from doing so?

She'll be back... I know she will :)
