The director of Strasbourg asked Rainer Hoffmann if Patty would like to come to Strasbourg this year, and he responded to him that tennis was not a big priority any more and that Patty and him do want to start a family soon and therefore, Patty's career will end soon !

Wow, thats quite a specific answer. Not surprising really, I think being out of the top-10 has demoralized her. It'll be sad to see her go though, she really added something to the tour.

it would not surprise me if this were true, she has had a long tennis career already, ten years ago she was heading towards top ten

Rainer also said he was Chakvetadze's coach :tape:

plus he's a convicted felon so i'll wait until Patty says something.

The thought him having sex with anyone makes me want to puke :o

i wonder who will retire first between Patty and Nadia. both seems hopeless and might not ever get back to their good old days

hell maybe Nicole calls it quit before those two :o :scared:

Oh, WTA tour will lose a big sportsman.

Schnyder is not a man. And she is actually quite a good sportswoman, by the way.

I think this probably isn't true, but Hoffman just running his mouth.

i hope not cuz the tour is going to get a good deal more boring if she does.

Don't see it, as this is an Olympic year. (Maybe she announces retirement after RG to avoid grass season without penalty, then "lets" SUI Fed talk her into returning in August). Hoffy might be speaking more out of frustration @ not having been hired by anyone as their *cough* "coach". :tape:

Anyhow, I hope the Criminal's Consort plays @ least until Sleazy Sesil becomes a WTA regular so I'll have a player to hate on.

I don't think she will retire until the end of the year in Zurich, it just seems like the perfect ending.

I wouldn't like her to leave just yet because she's a highly intelligent player and her shot repetoire is second to none. I was really hoping to see a turn around from her on the clay this week but it didn't happen but of all places to do well in a Slam Roland Garros would be the place for her and yet all these years have passed and she still hasn't done anything nearing her potential there. She should have at least gotten to a semi there at some point given the talent she has and it's a shame that mentally she can be quite frail because if she was stronger mentally then she'd give anybody a really tough time in Paris. Please don't go yet Patty not in this form you can turn it around!

patty.. even though not one of my faves i love her game style.. so smooth and fluent when its on. and shes no.12 in the world, even while playing poorly relative to her best, shes still among the top in the world. dont think she will ever have what it takes to be top 10 again but she can still make tier 2 finals and maybe win a smaller tournament or two and hover between 12-20
