players like Bartoli in one of the easiest ways (just to finish the title of the thread:))

Szavay plays Bartoli on thursday, so i started to figure out the best tactic to apply against her

i consider hitting as many sharp angled cross-court shots as possible a winning tactic against Bartoli, because she's not a great mover (wrong-footed on several occasions), lacks the speed to run down shots and uses two hands both wings which makes her a hell to reach out for the wider shots :devil:

these are pure disadvantages of Marion which Agnes should take benefit from in tomorrow's match

so c'mon Agnes with those spectacular shots you are capable of hitting and storm to the quarterfinals! ;)

Why would angnes want to get into an angle battle wit Bartoli. She hit's two hands on both sides so she will hit better angles. She need to play first strike tennis and keep the points short.

That's not a big problem. Before the match promise to give Bartoli a cake if she loses and voila, the match is yours.

hmm... that's quite harsh an idea but it could probably work :)

probably you're right about that but

all i am saying is that she should be the one who hits the first sharp-angled shot in the rallies to make Bartoli miss the balls all the time. because of the physical limits she has (about which i have written above in the entry-post) she couldn't be able to take them back on court if Agnes played these kind of shots

did Agnes or you say this?
Bartoli has proven she can play with the big dogs with these movement, so obviously this plan might not work

i guess she would never say things like these in public/for the media, because she's a lot smarter than that. (this has nothing to do with all these stuff but her best subject was maths at school, at which she was doing (a lot) better than the average...)

these are only my own silly speculations. :) i think all the players have more or less idea how to cope with different playing styles.

Szavay will need to serve well and stay aggressive. If she executes well, this match is hers. There's really nothing Bartoli has over Agnes except for being consistent.
Szavay has a better serve, stronger strokes, better movement.

Bartoli gets to a surprising amount of balls and is excellent at keeping the ball in play. She's got good tactics and a tricky serve.

But in Berlin, I'd take Agi in this match.
