This is actually a great victory since Petrova seemed to be in decent form after her marathon victory over Srebotnik. This win will definitely add to Maria's rising confidence. Hopefully she can beat Jankovic in the next round and remain undefeated on clay in 08.

You never know. Ever since saving those three consecutive MPs against Vesnina, Maria seems to be fighting for every game (even when down 0-40 and such) like her life depends on it.

Well, go back and read the victory thread. Everyone seemed to think Petrova was in decent form because she beat an in-form Srebotnik. Some even thought that the victory could be her "turning point."

Her coach should promise to buy her another dog or a cat or something. :sobbing:

I'm not really sure Maria is in good form. She's not beaten any quality players (Petrova is in a slump), but still, this is much better than Maria usually does on clay.

*sigh* I guess Nadia's first victory was only because of Srebotnik's lack of any mental strength whatsoever, rather then a return to form. :o

Congrats Maria! :hearts:

Ana just finished in time so I didn't miss a second of this match.
In the begining Maria was playing like the last set against Vesnina.
Really ok tennis but nothing special.

Nadia got very annoying at 6-3 2-0.
When she won the next game she didn't even take a break. It must be some of her tactical games.
At 2-3 and 0-30 I was afraid that Nadia would take it over.
Maria hold to 3-3 and that was just what she needed.
At 30-0 she made a succesfull dropshot 30-15.
Then she made 2 unbelieveable great points. Great rallies with some awesome winners in the end.
With the break it was over. Nadia really lost it.

Great win Maria. She's really starting to get her level back.

Sorry to say but I'm glad she lost the doubles. Her schedule is insane lately.
She played Warsaw till Sunday.
1 match monday.
Finishing it on Tuesday and also doubles.
Singles and doubles on Wednesday.
On Thursday she has to play again.
Against Jelena is will be really tough. But if she plays like this match there is a chance. I'm not sure if there are stats from the match but especially in the begining her errors were really low.
Her movement seems ok and the serve is working some better now.

Tomorrow on centre court. I hope she shows the same as she did today.
