She will thrash our hopes soon enough I reckon.

While I don't really expect to see any immediate improvements to her game, I do hope she'll show up with a renewed appetite for winning and a strong desire to be the best player she can be.

I personally don't have any, that should be recognizable from the manner of my post. When I wrote "our" I meant hopes of those fans who have them, but at the same time didn't want it sound like I am not on the board.
Nicole will continue to suck for quite some time, I have no doubts.

Random yet lingering questions of the past few days:

- to prepare for the clay season she hires somebody whose claim to fame was coaching Henman?

- and what exactly makes Felgate qualified to coach a top 20 WTA player? The only female player he ever worked with, as far as I know, was some Brit no-hoper.

- if she really wanted to rebel and break free, why did she single out Kodat for the axe?

- borderline tanking, no fight, piss poor movement - after effects of mono? Serve also gone? Why?

But the most persistent one:

- average out Nicole's least bad and lousiest performances of 2006-2007, and what do you get? #20-25? Maybe not even that? Heard from and seen on TV about as often as Alona Bondarenko? Less?

Nicole plays Dulko, who loves clay and is playing very well right now, in the first round.
If a miracle happened and Nicole won, she would face either Wozniacki or Golovin in the next round.

Nicole could use beating some scrubs to raise her confidence, but for me personally this draw is exciting, because she will be tested from the start. Although Dulko might be tired as she has reached Fes final this week.

I have come earlier from my work than I should to watch Nicole sucking. It probably isn't worth it, but at least I will see what exactly is wrong with her.

It seems like she's in the same situation as Gasquet is.They stopped to be competitive so, of course, it's harsh to come back strongly.Without saying that they don't know where they're right now but both not for the same thing.

Well, I hope she will find an issue for her problem on court.

Nicole was much the same as she was in her previous losses, according to what I read in here about the latter. Plays really bad for a while, and then just stops playing at all. Lethargic, can't be arsed to rally or even to move.

I wish her all the best in whatever she's going to do now that she's given up on a career as a tennis pro.

Ja, but the 1st set was just standard issue bad Nicole. It's the 2nd and 3rd set Nicole that is new and unsettling.

I wouldn't overexaggerate saying she's done with tennis, or saying she'll end up in challengers. :o

But she might wanna go down to Tier 3s and 4s to get confidence.

Sigh. I was hoping for an improvement in her attitude, if not in her game.

I really don't know what to think about her game... I just hope it won't be that bad for the French Open, she really has a lot of points to defend. And I just expect to watch her once this year before she lose. :rolleyes:

Radek is doing pretty well out there. Had a nice come-from-behind win against Ferrer yesterday. Another three-set win today.
Let's hope he can somehow inspire her to play better and find some much needed fighting spirit within herself.

:lol: I find him quite entertaining to watch. I thought he played pretty smart against Fed yesterday. He could certainly teach Nicole a thing or two about the game, especially tactics. At the end of the day, beauty won't win you tennis matches.
