View Full Version : Which Grand Slam Serena will win this year?

I know she hasn´t won a grand slam title in a even year since 2002, but she´s been playing very well lately, crushing Henin and winning 2 titles... I think she´ll win the US Open, IF she doesn´t injure herself, and maybe Wimbledon

She can win any of them, but if I had to pick one now I'd say SW19 :)

Definitely, Wimbledon and the U.S. Open. She talks about them a lot in her interviews. I think she also has a strong chance to win the French.
Olympics is top priority as well!

If I have to pick one it would be US.
But Serena is crazy, she could win the three, but she could lose in the three QF.

the French or US Open. I just think Wimbledon will belong to Venus or Henin.

It depends on how healthy Serena is and if her footwork is getting any better. She's still the best player on tour when playing her A game and I think only Henin(at RG) and Venus(Wimbledon) will be able to stop her if she finds her game.

She could win more than one GS this year but I'd say the US Open.

I don't think she'll win any.

I really would love for her to win a second French, and have at least two of every slam!

She's well overdue another Wimbledon and she can beat anyone there even Venus, so if I had to pick one I'd say that....

Any or all would be good though :)

I'd like Venus to win the French, Serena Wimbledon, and Elena USO. Lindsay can get olympic gold, and then I'm happy with all of my favorites + Serena. :)

Her best shot is probably Wimbledon, anyway, regardless of what I feel.

I don't think Serena can beat Venus at Wimbledon anymore. She's not fast or explosive enough there. On grass, Venus can shorten the points and her flat yet often erratic shots are aided by the grass.
Venus would need a high serve % and probably need to come to net more, but if she does what she needs to do.. she should beat Serena on grass.. probably the only surface where she has the advantage.

She's Serena, if serena puts her mind to it she can win all 3 so can Venus.

Venus would handle Serena at Wimbledon. Venus' game has evolved into such a jewel on grass and Serena's game is much more spin and needs time. Serena can beat anyone, excluding Venus at Wimbledon.

I think Serena can win the French if motivated enough. Henin's vulnerability is more than apparent and it's time for someone to take her down. But I really see the USO. Not winning RG or Wimbledon will motivate her so bad to win the USO.

I want Serena to crush Henin again, this time in Roland Garros!! She can beat Henin easily if Errorena doesn´t show up!

U.S. Open. She just needs to play some tournaments before hand.

I just dont know... I mean i feel like Serena has gotten her game to the level were she can win again; however, I've just got this feeling that Venus is finally gonna win Roland Garros, and if she doesnt win it my #2 is Jankovic breaking through and #3 Henin..... Serena is my 4th fav to win it though...

At Wimbledon its tough to bet against Venus at this point. Sharapova being #2. Serena #3. and Davenport #4.

Us is wide open to me, so if Id say she'll win one it'll be that one. Of course she could just win the olympics and not a GS, which wouldnt be that bad...

If Errorena wakes up she can win all of them.

I think Serena is a strong contender for the remaining three. If I had to make a prediction at this moment, I'd say that she'll win the USO (in addition to the Olympics).

I have such a big feeling that Serena will win this French Open.

Venus will win Wimbledon and the Us Open I think Serena will win it to.

But if Serena wins The French I know she's gonna win Wimbledon.

So I don't know why but I ohh my God I am so sure of Serena my hearts tell me she'll win all of them

Time will tell and we'll see :wavey:

Don't think she's ready to win the clay. she's barely played on it in the last 3 years and she's not quite fit enough to really be a strong contender for the title.

I hope she wins something but iono what to expect from her so she could win them all or be QuarterRena again.

i have a feeling that she would do well in the French...
i mean how her game has been set up right NOW!!
and shes playing long matches as well...

but sadly..
Venus is preparing herself just as well

so...sorry ree..!!

Hmm...I think the u.s. open. Serena seems to have become a strictly outdoor-hard court player these days. Wimbledon? Who knows..if her serve's clicking, then she could win there too.

MrSerenaWilliams
Apr 14th, 2008, 05:40 AM
She could win all 3, she could lose first round at all 3

You never know which Serena will show up for each of those (potentially 21) matches, but you know she'll fight for it.

I hope she wins the French and adds either the US or Wimbly to it.

Jelena Jankovic and Kiki Sprem have taken down Venus at Wimbledon. Serena is more capable than both of those players. All she has to do is catch Venus at less than full throttle.

She has the best shot at winning Wimbledon or the US Open.
But the question is can she win a GS this year? Not which GS will she win ;).

I think she will win the French Open. She herself said the trophy is lonely as it's the only one without a companion and she will really like to get a second.
However Serena has been playing well and can win any of the remaining 3.

I think this year she is healthy and she is ready to rock and roll. She doesnt want another 2007 and really wants to redeem herself and no one is going to stop her,she will pace herself and put herself in a position to win and end of year she will be top four.

She's clearly not agressive enough to win Wimbledon. Venus and Maria are the 2 big favorites Period.

Her serve and return can do lots of damages on a faster surface like in NY. But her best shot is surprisingly in Paris. Her footwork, her variety can bring her far in the French. If she doesn't win RG, I think she'll end slamless.

She didn't play that good in Miami, at least not the way she played when she actually won GS in Lodon or Flushing  Her game is more adapted to slow surfaces.

Wimbledon definitely. She had it written in her notebook of tips that "You will win Wimbledon" and due to that damn thumb injury she could not fulfil this.

This year she will certainly be going all out to get the Wimbledon title.

It's obvious you don't know my tennis history since Serena is the first player I loved and that I can enumerale all her losses/tournaments won/outfits wore since USO2001 :wavey:

I'm just giving my personal opinion, me reckon she's just hyped thanks to her win in Miami and actually she needs to make an excellent clay season to prevail in SW19 and Flushing. Remeber last year, remember 2004, the latest two years she won Miami...:p

I've had a feeling Serena can win RG. Justine's reign of terror certainly seems to be over, I'd love her to win all three. :hearts: But since I don't see her catching Venus before the quarterfinals at Wimbledon, I doubt she'll win there. Venus plays amazing at Wimbledon and when she gets deep enough into the touranment, it belongs to her. I definently can see Serena winning RG or USO. But Wimbledon belongs to Vee. :)
