Which palyers give the best handshakes/kisses at the net, win or lose.

I reckon, in no particular order, Venus, Mary, Lindsay, Kim and ASV.

Venus. Remember the pic with Kuznetsova?

Talking about handshakes, the most classic handshake would be Hantuchova's at AO SF. Ice-cold. It was actually funny.

Hantuchova deserved to be angry.
But I still jumped out of my seat with joy when Ana won.

Surprisingly perhaps, but Serena and Justine are usually very friendly after a match with their opponents at the net. Much more so than during the match-lol!! On the mens side, Djokovic is always very friendly at the net, post match.

Apr 13th, 2008, 01:48 PM
Kim was the nicest no doubt: win or lose, kisses for all. Even after she lost her 3rd Grand Slam final to Justine, she gave her 3 kisses. And when she didn't kiss it usually was because her opponent didn't want to, for instance Venus and Serena. With all due respect I don't think they are that friendly ... Venus always stands miles away from her opponent and just reaches that long arm. She also has this tick to get to the umpire first, like it's a competition  This is just my feeling of course, I'm not saying they are rude either. In general I like it when players kiss at the net, it's a sign of friendship and respect for the opponent.

Not just Hantuchova Aussie SF. Everytime she goes to the net she has a face like a smacked ass. :tape:

I don't understand why, though? You would think she had absolutely got used to losing now.

I think she is one of those people who rates her game sooooo much better than it actually is. I bet she actually believes she belongs in the top 20 :rolls:

Oh God Dani:hug:...

_______

Nicest are definitely Amelie, Venus and Kim. And Serena is pretty good these days.

Worst: Hantuchova, she just needs to get a grip of her whole personality and game. Change everything, I would suggest. Linds can be quite sour too. Henin is :o and even Sveta/Maria can be a little bit cold. Most players can be cold, I guess. But some are just ridiculous. :o...and also have no right, as they lose all the time anyway.

You are so pathetic. :o

Do you cry yourself to sleep everynight, trying to convince yourself that Daniela is not a good player?
You sure do spend a lot of your time trash-talking someone who will never see what you have to say.

Actually, do you remember the first time Amélie beat Serena in Rome?

Mauresmo was so happy that she wanted to kiss her opponent on the cheek but Serena just gave her a quick handshake and escaped as if Amélie had eaten garlic all day:lol:

But when Serena took her revenge in the FO and Wimbledon she was all sweet and sugar for the French...;)

Kim Clijsters was always able to smile, and she'd take her hat off usually as well to show respect.

Venus can always have a big smile, which can be pretty hard after a loss, so that's good of Venus.

JJ is usually very nice, as is Serena.

Venus is always very gracious and smiles like there's no tomorrow, whatever the result. When Jelena beat her at the French last year, JJ was patting her on the arm looking like she was about to say "Oh honey, it's okay" and Venus says "Oh yeah, I know, I'm so happy for you!"

I can't believe that some people used Lindsay as an example of somebody who isn't always nice at the net because of her last few matches with of all people Jelena Jankovic.

I like Jelena but she is hardly peaches and cream with all players.

And first of all, if A-MO didn't act like the Queen B. in the media and in Berlin when her ass got whooped by the belgian (do you remember that COLD handshake she gave:rolleyes:), I bet Justine would have at least kiss her in Wimbly. Plus since I stopped watching this joke of the match after that painful MP, I didn't see the handshake. Since when Amé's haters are supposed to follow her GS finals from A to Z ? :weirdo:

:rolls:

Ok, so just a couple of issue with this post then.

1. Why would I want to "convince" myself Daniela is not a good player?...At worst, I am delusional, because I am of the firm belief that Daniela epitomises mediocrity. I really do not need to convince myself anything; I am totally convinced, and have been for years now. That girl is just a walking, talking stick of mediocre....what you said is just silly.

2. No she won't see what I say. Nor do I wish her to. Nor will any of the top players see when we endlessly cheer our players on in all of these result threads especially. Yet people, not me mind you, do it anyway. So basically everyone is talking to themselves? Wow, you are a genius:worship:...just close the forum now, you just highlighted its pointlessness with one swift post of wit.

3. The funny thing is; each time I post about Daniela I get 4/5 good reps. A lot of people think it, they just don't say it. I say it. Get over it.

Vamos.

So basically, you're talking to yourself.

She's a solid top 15 player. Her game is just average. She plays Venus, Serena, Davenport. Basically tries to do the same thing they do, but with a slower serve, weaker groundies, and less mental toughness (she may be mentally stronger than Davenport on some days :tape:). Essentially, you get the point. Tracy Austin, whom I generally hate, summed it up when she played Henin in Wimbledon 2006. She does a little of everything, but nothing spectacularly good enough to matter.

105 MPH serve. Lack of Variety on the second serve.
Solid Paced Groundies. Not going to blow anyone off the court consistently, but can hit winners if given a bit of an open court/target.
On/Off Dropshot.
On/Off Volley.
Mentally Fragile.
Movement is improving, but still a weakness.

She is like a wannabe power player that just doesn't cut it.

Good to very good volleys.
Good dropshots.
Good groundies. She's a clean hitter.
Good serve. Can hit a kick serve.
Movement isn't that great but improving, yes.
And I also give you the mental fragility.

She has won several Tier I titles, has reached a Slam semi-final and several quarterfinals.

She is definately a Top Player :p

Kim by far - that Kimmie kiss was her trademark at the net. Just a few players she didn't manage to kiss who just stood too far back for Kimmie to embrace - like LenaD of all ppl  and she had to make do with the handshake.

Which players nowadays kiss at the net?

Amelie always seems very VERY friendly at the net, if you know what I mean (nudge nudge, wink wink, say no more...). I remember when she beat Iroda in Germany one time. Amelie had a twinkle in her eye and a spring in her step, as she approached the net, no doubt in anticipation of a bit of tonsil tennis action with the sexiest WTA babe ever. However, unusually for Iroda, she declined any kissing, just offering a quick hand shake, then walked to her chair. Amelie looked devastated, as you would be...
