Two 18yo young prospects with great expectations in future (especialy at clay) will play tommorow for theys career first "BIG FINAL". What do you think - who will win tommorow in Amelia Island (maybe youngest ever) semifinal?

"The Litle" Dominika is litle older, litle better ranked and won more big names so far (including at this tournament), but except more confidence that means also more pressure on her to win tommorow. On other hand talented Cornet have easiest (all straight sets wins without problems) road to SF without any physically or emotionaly chalenge (Cibulkova have in all three matches b/c hard matches and opponents).

H2H is 0-0 (they is so young), so only helpfull stats is they road to AI SF:

D.Cibulkova:
Azarenka 7-5 4-6 6-2
Chakvetadze 6-2 3-6 6-1
Mauresmo: 6-1 7-6

A.Cornet:
Bammer 6-1 6-3
Vesnina 6-1 7-5
Razzano 6-4 6-2

Cibulkova probably, Alize won't have the focus to stay with her gameplan for an entire match.

Cornet will win easily because Cibulkova will choke and plus, Cilbulkova is tired as hell mentally and physically

I pick Cornet in two or three sets

I'm thinking Cibulkova. She's riding a bigger high at the mement and probably feels she deserves it more. Plus I think she's playing better.

Either way, I hope they wear each other out. :haha:

Or Lindsay :p
The top half has been much tougher, IMO.

Neither girls had cakewalk draws so it was very nice to see them make it through. :)

Alize's win over Bammer was extremely impressive but I think Domi might have the patience in the rallies and the mental strength.

I think it will be Dominika. She is a year older and has beaten more impressive opponents. I am OK with either one, though :)

Two excellent prospects indeed!

Hoping the more offensive Alize, won't be too bothered if it's Domi.

.... as long as one of them wins the final.

I like both, both have great clay court games. Prefer Alizé though.

However, I'm fairly sure Dominika will win this in straight sets. ;)

Cibulkova because I prefer her nose...but honestly its 50/50. I would like to see this match...but considering I don't see any tennis on T.V for the next 2 months I'm not to disappointed.

Alize Cornet so far have strangest TOP50 career stats (TOP40 since next week) in WTA tour. This is her 3rd PRO season and she have so far 62-30 overall and 46-16 at clay. That means she played so far more than 2/3 of all her career matches at clay (in June that percentage will be about 3/4 ) and despite fact that she is youngest semifinalists here, only old Lindsay played more claycort matches and tournaments than young Alize. Cornet played so far more than 60 claycourt matches, Maria less than 50 and Dominika less than 40!

Actualy, except Volandri and Almagro i cant remember right now some ATP TOP50 case in near past (where always have many claycourts specialists especialy from Spain or Argentina) with such extreme 3/4 numbers. Many players in TOP100 but TOP40 can't remember. But for WTA Cornet TOP40 "surface" case is very unique right now.

Cibulkova doesn't ever give up until the very last point. I expect her to prevail in two-set clay court battle.

I expect her to prevail in two-set clay court battle.I dont know for other matches - but tommorow Alize will also "die" for every single point... She never before have better result than 3rd round at some big tournament (tier-II or above) and tommorow she have great chance to reach final!

nice to see some decent female clay courters. It's getting boring to see Justine dominate the French. I just hope neither of these two draw Venus at the FO otherwise it's going to be a hot arse mess.

as to the match.....i have feeling we're going to see a lot of long arsed rallies. Whoever's mentally tougher will win. And seeing as both are so young it's impossible to know which one that is. But I'll go w/ Cornet cuz she had the courtesy to lose to Venus unlike someone else:explode: taking advantage of the all the those UE's like it was a fire sale :fiery:

If Cibulkova wins the SF, then the Final will have to be the most "David and Goliath" match in WTA history. More than 25 centimeters height difference! How will Pova or Lindsay keep track of the little girl on court?

Cp6uja points out that there is little to go by to pick a winner in the Cornet v Cibulkova match. I like looking at the Career To Date match win record (CTD) for clues. In this case, Cornet's .6350 CTD is not too different from Cibulkova's .6476 CTD, but advantage Cibulkova, though. However, based on Cp6uja's clay court record for Cornet, that's a .7419 clay court CTD!!! But scanning the WTA records for Cibulkova, she appears to have a 33-12 clay court record including Qualifier and Fed Cup matches. That translates to a .7333 CTD. Slight advantage, Cornet.

The match is a toss-up! Hopefully the match will be as good as the Cibulkova v Azarenko match in the second round. Both girls will be fighting for that first Final. What a tournament!
