Which former #1 will make it back to the top 10 first?

Amelie Mauresmo - Currently: World #21 (1231 pts.)*
Lindsay Davenport - Currently: World #26 (1055 pts.)*

*their QF points weren't yet added to their ranking.

I think Lindsay is more consistent and can be top ten by USA open 08.

Lindsay, unless Amelie finds her confidence quickly

Davenport, I think she'll make it into the top 10 after a good showing at the USO.

I think Linds will make it after Wimbledon or maybe during the USO season :D

Davenport. She'll play well during the grass and summer hardcourts and she OWNS the indoor season.

Agree. Or next year or the year after for that matter.

Right now Mauresmo have about 150pts more than Davenport, but she played 18+1 tournaments and Lindsay only 11+1 (+1 is Amelia/08) and also in next 3 months Lindsay not defending nothing and Mauresmo defending about 600 points. So no question who is more close to TOP10.

If my calculations is correct, if we count only results since her comeback (week after USO 2007), Lindsay Davenport is right now #10 - more pts after USO reach only Justine, Ana, Jelena, Sveta, Maria, Elena, Serena, Daniela and Vera (bolded 6 players reach "much more"). Two players which traditionaly have much better results in second half of season AnnaC and especialy Venus is also very dangerous and some chances from this POV to reach TOP10 after USO 2008 also have Radwanska. So without any big improvment or big down in her game (and without injury) Lindsay will be after USO 2008 something between #7-#13. For more of that she needs to play like in old days (young actualy), and for worse - she need "Momo-like" slump or long-pause injury.

On other hand Mauresmo is in so obvious (more than year) big slump and only to start to thinking about comeback in TOP10 she needs for start atleast semifinal at her favorite tournament (Wimbledon) and late in year very good indoors results.

Davenport, I think she'll do great on the grass!! All she has to do is stay away from Vee and Ree, ;)

Do you realize with AI that Davenport is #11 in the race? It may take her a while, but she could very well get into the top 10 this year.

You are right. It is possible. But I don't think it is going to happen. We will see.

I didn't realize she was that high either. If she wins AI, she'd be #9. It would be silly to bet against her holding that spot when her best parts of the season are still to come.

That's a bit misleading - she is likely to drop a bit during red clay season. But I agree she has an excellent chance of making top 10 by the end of the year if she plays enough and is injury free. I don't think MoMo will ever get back there...

Oh I really think Davenport can get into the Top 10 - behind Henin, Ivanovic, Jankovic, Sharapova, Venus, Serena... #7 is not that unrealistic for her, and she can beat Ivanovic & Jankovic!

Davenport will be top 10 after the Olympics.

She isn't fat anymore. After having a baby, she's probably in far better shape than you are. Lame insult :o
