What are the chances for Momo to be top 10 by RG?
Yes, she has been struggling for a bit, but her form has steadily been improving. I am sure she will at least be top 15 by RG, and I want her to be top 10 again for RG and Wimbledon! Especially considering the shaky form and conditions of the current top 20...

What does everyone think?

23ish?

I think she has a good chance to win AI. Her game is great on Greenclay IMHO.

I don't know what to think about momo any more. I hope she does climb up the rankings somewhat before the FO.

Erm no I don't think so. Maybe top 20 again, she's only a couple of wins away from that at the moment

Even if she does, does she have any chance at RG or Wimbledon? She's just been so bad with no confidence lately, I'm afraid one good tournament with a depleted field(AI doesn't really have any good players for clay) might not be enough.

I hope I'm wrong but I see NO WAY of her being top 10 by Wimbledon

Top 10? Nope. With her current form and confidence, it's sad to say she'd be lucky to stay in the Top 30.

If she regains confidence and starts playing well, Top 20 is a good position to be in. But Top 10 by RG? Definitely no way, in my opinion unless she doesn't lose a single match.

23ish?

Is it even possible to move up 13 spots in that amount of time? I think the top is tightening up actually. It ain't gonna happen.... this year.

Oh gosh, i would LOVE to see her at top ten by RG. But lets be honest, clay is not her best surface, and the french open pressure always seems to get the better of her.
I would like to think that she will be top ten going into the US open series.

haha... you must be kidding... to jump that high she'll have to win Rome or something...

That's definitely more probable I suppose, but if she won 2 or 3 tournaments, she could get back to the top 10, and despite that clay hasn't always been her best surface she has had some great runs on the surface. ;)

She would have to win 2 of the 3 Tier Is and do well in the other, as well as do well Amelia.

ALSO, she must have the other top players, like Radwanska, Szavay, Bartoli, Hantuchova and Elena not do well since she will need to hop them.

Aka, not happening.

Well really, do you think she is going to win Berlin/Rome/Amelia Island/Charleston with players like Henin, Williamses, ivanovic, Sharapova?

I love Amelie, but her form is no where near the top 10 players at the moment.

If she goes well, i will be the first to eat my words, but i just dont see it happening as much as i would love to.

I think first of all she needs to play solidly in matches against the top players, not necessarily win but no be beating in straight sets, or be beaten with a very one sided score.

She needs to battle a bit more out there, get hungrier and get confidence by playing better. Maybe a couple of good wins over top 15/ top 10 players.

I just dont see all of that happening by may.:help:

Not only will Amelie Mauresmo not be ranked in the top 10 by Roland Garros, she will not be ranked in the top 10 EVER AGAIN. She's toast.

That's the biggest problem, I think. Szavay, Radwanska, Elena, Vaidisova, Zvonareva, and Peer are all defending relatively few points. While Amelie has nothing to defend that I know of, those six are all capable on clay, and all six have less than 200 points to worry about (I think) and start with a 150-400 point buffer. That's a big hurdle to jump over.

I'd like to see Mauresmo have one more big hurrah at Wimbledon, but I'm less and less sure that she's going to last much longer.

Yes, she has been struggling for a bit, but her form has steadily been improving.

but has it?

sure, clay could give her back the confidence (and that's mainly what she's lacking ATM) and i really hope she'll do well.

Forget RG, will she EVER make it back to the top10. I hope so.
She's ranked 24 right now in the rankings, 19 in the race.

It's taken her 18 tournaments to earn 1107 points. What would make one think she could MAKE UP 1150 within a few weeks before RG (pts for #10)? The highest person she's beaten has been #36 this year. The lost to #174 last week...

I hope so, but I voted no... Don't wanna jinx her nor do I expect too much of her anymore :o

EDIT: and it seems that it's mathematically virtually impossible...

No way. It's the CLAY season. Her worst surface. Even if it wasn't, she still wouldn't get up there.

Her chances are non-existent.

I don't get this thread. :scared:

I'll be happy just to see Momo win more than two matches in a row, at this point.

Hell No! You must be on crack...
Sadly, I don't think she'll be top 10 ever again:sad:

It's the CLAY season.

Since when? Not counting mental malfunctions at RG, she's got an impressive collection of clay-court trophies on the shelf.

But no, I don't think she'll be top ten by RG. I do think (and hope, and pray) her ranking will improve, but I don't see her making that kind of leap so quickly right now.

Apr 10th, 2008, 02:21 PM
She would need to earn about 1100 points by RG. I think her chances are non-existant.

Nothing against Amelie herself, mind you, but only when this happens:

Wouldn't she have to enter--and WIN--most everything between now and Rome? No chance, IMO.

I think 2 tournament wins could do it and With the injuries, illness, and 'interesting' form of some of the top 20, I truly believe!

Come on Ame!!

oops...I didn't mean to repost the pic twice...though the pggies are loverly.
