This is the place where we come up with reasons why Jelena loses a match, plays poorly, chokes, gets in a big hole and has to come back, or says something controversial.

I'll start with one:

Bartoli d. JJ Wimbledon 07

There was something in her eye. It was raining. The match was disrupted too often. :lol:

-NAJ-
Apr 7th, 2008, 01:14 AM
Bangalore 2008 Zi Yan def. Jankovic

i think she lost that match because she didn't have Evian water to drink during the match. and we all know that JJ in India drinks only Evian water
:haha::haha:

I do believe the Bartoli defeat was a "trapped eyelash" rendering sight in the left eye nigh on impossible.

Yeah, that was really :o from Jelena. One more thing I didn't like, when JJ lost to Bartoli in Wimbledon she said something about Marion not having a life, and training whole day. I can't remember exactly what she said, but it was poor :tape::help:

I don't have an exact quote (it was in Serbian) but she basically said she doesn't train 10 hours a day, implying that the length of the match with the rain delays was something more suited to Marion's tastes than her own. i.e. Her life doesn't revolve around tennis. I really wish I'd seen a translated transcript of that interview.

Yay, Bruno, this thread is such a great idea :yeah: (at least something positive stemmed from all that insanity in GM)

let me see...
JJ's loss to Yan Zi in Bangalore - well, she's been there, seen it, got the sari and the forehead accessory. Why would she stay at that tourney any longer?
JJ's loss to Sorana Cirstea at the Fed Cup - she wanted to make Ana play another match and tire her out for the succeeding tournies... (tactical loss)
JJ's loss to Serena in Miami - she didn't want Serena to get too disappointed and end her career (humanitarian loss)

Great thread, Bruno! :yeah:
Zoja, lovin' the humanitarian loss excuse! And tactical one :devil:

My own feel about AO semi loss to Pova is that it happened because the roof was closed creating hot & humid conditions! As you all know and JJ told us so, when it's humid the balls get fluffier and it's harder for JJ to play her game! So we can call it a fluffy excuse! :D

When I think of that loss I always have in my head a scene from Monty Python's ''Holy Grail'' movie - the knight who's guarding the bridge and getting his arms and legs cut off, but still yelling ''It's just a scratch! Come here and fight you cowards!'' :lol: JJ was falling apart during that match...:sad: (and on top of that, the bloody balls were fluffier than ever!)

You know... I misread the article that came out after that match where MaKiri was wittering away about the motivation of the puppy and read something like "all I could think about was beating her and getting the dog" ... and initially I thought Woah - that's a bit harsh in the name calling stakes!!! Now why didn't we go ahead with that misinterpretation and make a big stink about it on GM. "Kirilenko is insulting Jelena!" "Maria thinks she's the hottest thing in the world!" :lol:

True. I think JJ lost that match because she was so distracted by how unfair it is that she has to wear whatever Reebok hands her after they've already filtered it through Nicole Vaidisova, whereas Maria Kirilenko gets to wear Stella McCartney. :o

def. v Kuznetsova (Zurich indoors 2006)

excuse: dodgy umpire (aka: "the big" stand-up row at the end of 1st set)

"Three of Sveta's pile-driving forehand winners were clearly out in that tie-break. I know because my mum was courtside and she was nodding in agreement. When I picked up my chair I wasn't going to throw it at anybody... but I did want to smash it into a million pieces. I was so angry and frustrated."

This is where another JJ's quote comes handy - "What you lookin' at, woman!?" - when Sneki told JJ to challenge a shot during AO...Needless to say that it was bad challenge as it usually is with JJ. Remember that fan at USO2007 who screamed "Thank god!" when umpire announced JJ was out of challenges!? :lol:

I do too, but I just can't imagine her speaking through that commercial that Maria Sharapova & her dog did. I don't know though, maybe it'd be seen as really really sexy by the masses. Pachisi originated in India by the 6th century. This game was played by the Mughal emperors of India; a notable example being that of Akbar Khan, who played living Pachisi using girls from his harem. A variant of this game, called Ludo, made its way to England during the British Raj.

Well, bump! because this thread rocks.

Does she really uses that excuse so often (I guess you're kidding for Ana and Dinara), or are you guys just joking? I never read/listen to interviews, so please educate me.

If she really does she's my new hero. Well, in fact, all of what was said in this thread pretty much makes me love JJ even more (I'd definetely buy that Jankopolic game).

We're not lyin' ;) She's said variations on the man/ATP player theme on Serena, Dinara, Ana...

Welcome to the board :wavey:

Seriously, nothing we could ever dream of making up would be better/funnier than what actually comes out of her mouth. :lol:

Woah, okay, you make me feel curious. I'll maybe start reading JJ's interviews now.

Oh my. I can understand for Serena and maybe Dinara, but all I can say is "Lol." for Ana:lol:. Thanks for the quick answer and also thanks for the welcome;).
