Nice fight Aga . No shame to losing to Amélie, but I wish she got her first top 20 victory in a while against somebody else. Such a situation happened twice in a row! I fail to understand how she managed to lose the tie-break ... but well, that's tennis.
I hope she takes a long break now. She can do much better than that ;I really think she was spent in those last weeks.

i think you overestimate the value of that loss. this was A VERY VERY CLOSE MATCH. aga saved 2 m.p. at 3-5 then it was a dogfight, everything could have happened.

besides i remember another match with a tiebreak in the 3rd when she was leading 5-3 in it and lost 4 straight points against tamira paszek in zurich. so this time it was better cause she got one more point after being 5-3 up ;)

in my opinion aga is back where she always was with her game. let's be honest she got deep in some tourneys by playing amazingly consistent tennis: beating all lower ranked players and luckily avoiding the higher ranked (except for AO ofc). that was awesome, but i expected her to lose this consistency sooner or later...
i also need to underline she wasnt in such a form a szavay was last season: she didnt beat any of top players when they were playing anywhere near decently (i m sorry but i saw the match with kuzzy and she was hopeless, she did well to hang in the petrova match but later it seemed to be the injury that helped aga). my point is aga's ranking seems to be a bit hyped, even taken that most players ranked 12-20 are in a slump :o

I only partially agree with you. I believe Agnieszka has better skills than her results indicate. She has great game and she is a fighter, but let's keep in mind she is still young, developing tennis player. The two areas she has to concentrate on are:
1. Mental strength - Agnieszka is not new any longer therefore the pressure of winning is much greater; I don't see she can always deal with that. This is probably the most important part, because if not addressed it may destroy her career as the pressure will keep mounting.
2. Serve - It is her weak spot. If she improves it, she may be unstoppable. It is not as important as #1; every player has weaker sides.

P.S. You may consider using "emphasize" instead of "underline" :). I hope you are wrong about her dad being after money

I don't agree. Aga should be ranked where she is now.
First, so far this season, I mean until the last weeks, she was very consistent, and if the other top 20ers weren't so it's teir problems, she did her job perfectly, and she did beat the players who beat the seeds (Like against Domi who was in great form in Doha, beat Venus and Patty, and against Ashley in IW who beat Safina and few others I think.. Those players played like top 20 in those tournies..)
Like AndreConard wrote, I also think she should do the mental adjusment, to handle with the fact she is the favorite in some matches, and not let it affect her.
So yeah, she's not a top 10 YET but I believe in her, just improve the serve and everything is gonna be alright..I mean, she has ALL the shots, including good Volley, slice, touch which are not the strongest part in most of the players..
And I do htink she should skip Charlston.. No matter what her dad thinks.. She needs a little rest, to clear her mind after that intence first quater if the year.

Btw, is it true that in Poland she's called Isia??

Yes, Charlston is in this same time zone as Miami (EST - Eastern Standard Time); the east coast of the USA. EST is 6 hours from CET.

Supposedly it was a great match between Marta and Agnieszka, here is couple of reports:
As reported the quality of this match was very high. Please find those 2 reports below. Special thanks to both authors for sharing their comments.

"This was by far the best match of the two days I’ve gone to Charleston. Seriously. Domachowska has a new fan in me--her serve and forehand are REMARKABLE. Even though she lost, I have nothing but respect for her now. She is so talented.

Radwanska played great too. Aga fans, please, don’t lose heart she lost a set to Marta--there was an eleven minute game that ultimately decided who won that second set (when Marta broke Aga), and that’s all that separated them.

Such a high quality match, in dreary, cold, windy conditions. Aga’s groundstrokes are effortless. Just beautiful tennis all around from both players. In a day filled with otherwise boring matches, this more than made up for it. Congratulations to both girls." - by Ludwig

and second report written by Diane

"Finally, we saw Agnieszka Radwanska play Marta Domachowska. I was really looking forward to this match, and it more than met my expectations. Whoever plays in the final will have to put on quite a show to top what went on this afternoon between the two Polish women on the Althea Gibson Club Court. Both women hit breathtaking groundstrokes, and both served extremely well. Domachowska was strong on both sides, and Radwanska used the defensive lob successfully over and over. There was also some good volleying. I was cheering for Domachowska and was disappointed when she lost, but it was so close--a point here and a point there made the difference. When the 2008 Family Circle Cup is over and done, I may still think that this was the best match of all."

I'm relieved to learn that both girls were playing somewhere near their best tennis. I was more afraid that Aga couldn't beat an erratic Marta without spending 2 hours. It can only be positive for them. Now Aga has to take the most of her day of rest, I'm still worried about how she physically feels.

I also realize that her last wins came for the largest part in 3 sets. Clay won't help to make them quicker, but if she manages to stay fit, she has a big chance to shine on this surface. There are so many cows on ice when it comes to play on clay. ^^
Good luck Aga & please go far! :p

Actually, in the first and third sets, Gallovits was playing great, serving better than Radwanska, swinging freely, and controlling a lot of the rallies. I was a bit surprised Radwanska got through it.
