View Full Version : Being in the top 8 is more important than top 10 !

I just read a thread about Serena who might be out of the top 10 after Miami if she doesn't do well there. Well people don't seem to understand that the safest place to be in is being is the top 8 especially for GS and big tourneys like Miami. For instance last year (except for OA) Serena managed to be at least in the first 8 seeds at the GS, which helped her reaching the quarters every time.
In Miami this year, barring a last-minute withdrawal she will be seeded 9. She could face Hénin for instance as early as the 4th round.
Focus on the top 8 people !

well thats where i want chakvetadze to be for the remaining 3 slams a top 8 seed.

top 10 is special as your one of the 10 best women in the sport of tennis in the world, but top 8 is very usefull for slam seedings.

Pointless thread, you are only stating the obvious.

How sarcastic of you. At least one person got me here. Not so pointless to me considering people open threads about 1st round quAlifying matches in IW,or numerous threads about matches nobody cares about.

Of course, most of the threads in the GM are pointless, then again that's also stating the obvious. :p

That´s quite obvious, but I think top 4 is way better than top 8!

No she can't, because seeds 1-4 play seeds 13-16 in the fourth round. :p

Omg. How many more times do we have to see this crap about Serena and seeds? She has proven over and over again that she can beat anybody on any given day regardless how low she is at rank.
She has proven this to the world already!

No matter what she proves they will still doubt her.

I hope they doubt her enough she finds her 2002 Form and sweeps USO, FO, WBLN, Olympics.

Being 5-8 avoids Sharapova at the moment. Better than being Top 4. ;)

LOL!! Yeh if it wasn't for that Nenin then Nerena Nilliams would have won those GS's, but then again anyone could have won:

Nana Navanovic
Netlana Nuznetsova
Nelena Nankovic
Nenus Nilliams

She's going to have to prove it again this year. I hope that she shuts a few people up in Miami.

If Serena finds her 2002 form, she should give it back to 2002. She needs to be much better than that to succeed in 2008.
