If you substitute a player with approximate ranking #150 for the 1st round BYE, this draw could easily be the draw until the final of a 50-K challenger.

I've got worse:

to win a GS, A-Mo beat Yan, Loit, ret., Vaidisova, Schnyder, ret., ret.

Step to this!

to win huge Tier I , Sharapova defeated: BYE, Voskobaeva, Tanasugarn, Wozniacki, Radwanska, Zvonareva...

to win Tier II , Henin defeated: BYE, Pironkova, Kleybanova, Bazcinsky, Knapp...

Patty's road was tougher than Maria and Justine road...

zvonareva and radwanska are way better than Nakamura, Amuradovaor Yan.

but right very easy draw compared to lena's in dubai:
Schnyder, Bondarenko, Schiavone, Ivanovic, Kuznetsova :wavey:
THAT'S a great achievement

Well Doha was a Tier 1 and Schnyders draw ultimately ended in Serena williams in bangalore(which she lost to) while sharpy played Zvonareva in the finals  now the comparison is obvious!

Justine had it much easier. And she played Knapp, not Serena.
Amelie had to play well at the AO. Kim and Justine didn't retire until they were beaten.

Yeah Justine's Antwerp title was just STUPID. It was like winning an ITF title. STUPID I TELL YOU!

Justine's Antwerp :o

And she practically struggled through most of the matches!
Patty's players were all in good form - espiecally Yan and Akgul!

You can't fault Patty, though.

She beat everyone who was put ahead of her. Because Jankovic, Kirilenko, and Szavay lost early doesn't make it her problem or should she feel any less accomplished. Justine's Antwerp run is worse.

Well you can't fault any player for beating the players across the net from them.

a $100K would be lucky to have 3 decent players like Nakamura, Amanmuradova and Yan in their draw...

Schnyder beat players who beat Szavay, Jankovic and other decent players.

Your argument really works in Justine's case too. Antwerp had a few top players too, but they just ended up losing early.

Stupid thread.

Patty beat some good and clearly in-form players. She can only beat the players in front of her. Bangalore was great for Patty, because alot of the time she can have some bad losses. Last week she actually beat these players.

Well, it is not her guild that Szavay and Jankovic as possible best ranked-players in her half last earlier :p

yeah and many of you are complaining about Lindsay winning tiers III and IV, beating on the way higher ranked players :D

Funny how some posters always complain about this while at the same time all of them would like their favourite player to get such a draw at any Tier II event.

lol well still in my mind the worst road was this -

2007 New Haven - Kuznetsova

Bye
Radwanska 4-6, 6-1, 6-4
Schiavone 6-2 RET
Dementieva 4-6, 6-3, 3-0 RET
Szavay 4-6, 3-0 RET

It's not her fault that Jankovic, Szavay and Kirilenko lost their matches  and she beat the players who beat them..

And it's good for her she won those matches, because on a given day she can screw it up and lose to one of them..:o

Well for a "weak" draw Patty didn't exactly make it look easy............

This is why there will be fewer but more important events in the new tournament system next year

The top players just don't show up anymore.

Fantastic thread! :D

I'm just glad she beat these players and actually won when she was supposed to. That, to me, is more impressive for Patty than it would have been if she had beaten Szavay and Jankovic to reach the final.
