There's still a fair chance - she'll play one of the 5-8 seeds in the 4th round and then could play any of the top 4 in the quarters :p

She would need Azarenka and two other players to pull out to be seeded, as she's currently ranked 36. But then again, if what TBE said is true about some years IW points do count towards Miami seeds, then she'll surely be seeded.
Honestly though, what's better for Davenport? A guaranteed 3rd round with a player seeded 1-8, or a possibility of an earlier round with these players, but also the possibility of getting the draw of a higher seeded player who she can clearly beat, by drawing them first round?

I like option two. :D:lol:

Unfortunately she doesn't really have many points to defend, so it may still take a while. All she has to do is win the odd game and she'll maintain her position for a few weeks yet.

This list is perfect for the draw-riggers.

We could possibly have in the same half:

Henin
Jankovic
Sharapova
V. Williams
S. Williams

Anyone think it will happen?

You idiot. It would suck because it would create an imbalance of the draw and not provide better matches to come in the later rounds of the tournament. It has nothing to do with whom the Williams' face. It has to do with putting some of the best players on the tour on the same side of the draw and leaving the other side to be completely lopsided.

Right, I was looking at TBE's non updated version of the rankings! Venus and Serena at 7 and 8, just like Australia! (just reversed this time around)

Very likely they'll be on opposite halves now! :bounce:

Yes, agreed goldy!
This new roadmap has me excited with those four big tournaments we'll have, I can see that being really good for the tour. Outside of slams, four more Miami-esque tourneys where (hopefully) all the big names will be there. Can't wait really. And a CLAY one. That will be interesting.

The rankings have been updated. Serena is ranked 9th. She is still 320 points behind Hantuchova but hopefully she will lose a lot of points at Indian Wells and Serena will be able to defend hers at Miami. Then she should make it to 8th. Venus is still at 7, just 104 points behind Chakvetadze.

I'm sure the only reason she's entered is because it's mandatory, though.

We're talking about the same Lindsay who was suppose to take a break during the Olympics in 2004but then took a wildcard in Cincy.

This is the same Lindsay who said she wasn't coming back and then had to be told by her doctor to stop working out because she couldn't feel the fetus in her last trimester.

You don't listen to what Lindsay says because she's :bs: ing half the time.

What you really do is go:
What would a moody rich white women do in this situation?

She's not going to play Indian Wells, Miami, and Amelia Island.
She enjoys the conditions in Indian Wells and Amelia Island.
She already has a 0 from last year on her ranking, so it's not hurting her.

Let's just say a mysterious illness comes up after Indian Wells.
